I became a single mom when my son was about 1. I lost a ton of weight for the same reason, I was so busy taking care of my son that I didn’t take care of myself. Thank you for being a good example for coparenting too. It makes the child’s life easier and stress free having parents that are united and get along. I had to put a lot of anger aside to get there but it was worth it.

You learned how to drive you learned how to be the sole adult in a home and you've kept your daughter so healthy and loved during that time. You've grown your business with your launches. You deserve so much love and you have a wonderful family and friends to support you. I just wanted to say that I'm proud watching the progress you've made and 100% agree that this coming year would be a great time to just focus on making sure you are fueled would love food community family. I really respect the way you talked about your daughter watching how you take care of yourself. I recently went on my own thyroid journey. Turns out after years and years of letting it slide that I don't just have Hypothyroidism I have Hashimotos disease. I needed to monitor my food and go on a gluten free/autoimmune journey. I was SO depressed about it because I love food. Not just to eat but the culture and story behind it. I had to shake myself out of that mindset because my son needs his mama healthy. He also needs to see her care for herself and her body in a way that I would want him to care for himself.
    Big hugs 🫂
Motherhood got the best of me in the first years. My little is about to turn 2 next month and I am just now starting to feel like myself again.

Thyroid issues have such a HUGE impact on weight. I struggle with hashimotos and gained so much weight without changing anything at all. And since one in four women have thyroid issues, this is just another reminder to not blame people for their weight or shame them for it.

So someone that eats fast food every day and has thyroid issues shouldn’t be blamed for their weight? It can have an impact on weight, however, lifestyle choices are even bigger than that. My mom is 65 years old, overweight most of her life. She’s had hypothyroidism since I can remember, she started eating better, intermittent fasting and walking daily, she lost like 80 pounds. Soooo….?? People use hypothyroidism as a crutch for poor choices.

I’m so glad you addressed disordered eating vs an eating disorder. I have struggled with this so much before I got pregnant being in college and after having my daughter and becoming a mom. I have always been trying to “take care” of others or my to-do list before taking care of myself. I have so many people that are like omg you look amazing after having a baby, i never want someone to think it’s how you “should” look after a baby because I didn’t do it in a healthy way, or even intentionally. So important to try and make our health a priority, and I’m glad I’m not the only one❤️

Then you can either put them in the bedroom or living room while you sleep in the other room. They’re usually not to much more expensive. We’ve also had success sharing a standard hotel room and just turning the lights off when toddler goes to bed until she is fully asleep. Most hotels will also supply you a pack and play or crip if you ask.

I still breastfeed but it's so easy for me to ignore my hunger cues.
I can literally go 12 hours just saying, I'll eat later or eat 2 grapes and go another 10 hours without eating.
It's not eating disorder per se because I don't do it intentionally or for weight loss. I actually hate losing weight, but nonetheless I can't get myself to prioritize eating.

My mom was a single mom of one daughter - and we have had a great relationship for the majority of my life. (Age 17-19 was rough trying to be independent lol) but I really appreciate looking back on great one on one time with my mom.

My toddler prefers showers. So we don't so baths anymore. For travel, we use a toddler inflatable mattress. I think it's called Shrugs or something like that. Doesn't take much space and easy to carry.

I suffered from Grave's disease (overactive thyroid) in 2019 and I got a lot of positive comments on how I looked and my weight loss when I was experiencing horrific symptoms, including hives, swelling, heart palpitations, and anxiety. I had radioactive iodine treatment so now I am in the opposite boat and it's very difficult to lose weight, especially after having a baby. So yeah, what someone is experiencing cannot be assumed just by noticing their weight loss/gain.

For the bath fear/dislike I remember when I was a toddler that the air was cold and the bath warm and the feeling on my skin of the cold air on my wet skin was the reason of the tantrums. So I suggest you to level up the temperature in the room to feel like in a spa day 🤍

I have the same struggle with the weightloss Brittany I definitely don't have an eating disorder. I have a 1 year old and putting myself last! Now I have to set timers when to eat also with breastfeeding and still breastfeed but not as much.. I don't have enough energy to keep up with her I just forget to eat. My boyfriend is forcing me to gain weight also :( which is very stressful!!

My daughter was the same with the baths. She is 2. Last time she was anti-bath I decided to get in with her and play. It was that one time that changed it all! She loved them again. Also I take her swimming once a week so I'm sure that helps with her love for water.

My daughter is the same way with being an independent sleeper. She does not associate being with me with sleeping at all. However, we still travel with her and it’s not as bad as you would think. I think the sleep pod would be a great thing to bring. We do the pack n play in a hotel, and it takes a little time but she does fall asleep.

My toddler went through a similar bath hating phase. I would lay her down on her changing table, prop her head so its out of the table frame and wash her hair while she watches something. Once thats done I wash her body while standing in the shower which is a lot less to manage if she kicks and fights but this system helped until she eventually forgot about her hate for the shower. Hope this helps!!

I think your the future can hold so many different possibilities with children and siblings. You may be one and done or may be like me i have a 7 year old and an unexpected 7 month old. I know lost people want children together but if you had another further apart just remember that bond can be so good as well. Your daughter is lucky to have her parents either way be it with future siblings or not.

The bath fear very common. My son went through it and half of the Mums I know went through with there children.
I just ended up having showers with my son. If we did the bath I was in the bath with him. Then I just waited until he asked to have a bath. Now he's in love with it. We always give him the choice of shower or bath and often he'll choose bath.
I think for him it was a choice thing and fearful of slipping. Though it can often be due to draining the bath. For this fear they suggest not to drain when toddlers in the bath. For some people I know they could even drain anywhere near the toddler, just had to wait until toddler is far away from the bath.

My son at 15 months became terrified of the bath. It only last about a month, our family Dr said try daily baths and like you mentioned you tried toys, toys, toys. But the only thing that actually helped us was our family visiting from out of state and going to the hotel pool. My son was so intrigued by his cousins in the pool that he wanted in and once he was in didnt want to get out. That next few baths after that were much easier but still a little scary then all of a sudden baths were fun again!

I don’t understand why so many people are pressuring her about having another baby. She’s super young. I’m literally damn near 40 having my second kid. Life happens and how you decide to live it is nobody else’s business if you’re not hurting someone else.

Bath time suggestion - what worked for my toddler who also hated the bath…
    1. Make the bath soft and comfy like put a towel on the bottom or a bath mat. And bring a really fun and special toy(s) in there. For a few days, go into the bath tub to play with these things - get in with her. Keep clothes on, no water. So several times a day for a few days just go in there and treat it like a super fun activity area. The point is, make it a fun place and break the negative association.
    2. After a few days of this you’ll start bath time again with water. Just a few inches of warm water. You should plan to get in with her. Make it super fun. TIP - don’t force her to lay back or pour water over her face and eyes. My kid hated that it was a trigger.
Took about a week of this for us and ever since my kid has been obsessed with bath time - just as long as I don’t force him to lay back or get water in his eyes. Haha

About the independent sleeper in a hotel room, you can get a room with 2 beds, then you do bedtime, put her in one of the beds and go hide in the bathroom until she sleeps. We did that and it super worked!

Hey! Not sure if this will help with the bathroom issue with your daughter but I was just reading a parenting book that was talking about kids at this age developing a fear of drains because they see the water go down and think they'll get sucked down too, my daughter is about 6 months younger than yours so it's something I've been looking out for!

I struggled with eating disorders my whole life and i was scared of how i get through pregnancy and all this... PPD after my first and the struggle of unplanned 2 under 2 leave me skinny with a toddler and a baby.
It isn't the eating disorder right now, it's not enjoying with pressure. I'd rather skip a meal and have another cup of coffee. I need to find other solutions

I feel like this whole area , LA -OC “promotes” eating disorders. It’s crazy ! So much pressure!!! The expectation is you have to look the certain way to kind of fit it.

For the bathroom thing, maybe you can try to transition from bathing to showering? I have a removable shower head and I kind of just let it hang from the cord for my 2 year old and he loves it. She might find it as a new form of water play? 🤔 Just a thought! ☺️

Oh my gosh no one really talks about how hard it is prioritizing yourself postpartum! I’m so busy taking care of my 9 month old but I have the opposite problem. No matter what I do my body will not let go of my pregnancy weight. It’s so stressful to try everything and have nothing work. I wonder how if I should get my thyroid checked out because I know it can be the other way around. Either way, getting back to yourself post baby is extremely hard, no matter what way we look at it!
