- The plaintiffs say they sold a piano to the defendant, but she flaked out on them. They claim they lost out on other offers and ended up having to pay to move the piano, so they’re suing for the balance due and moving fees. The defendant says she put down a deposit while she researched the piano but decided she didn’t want it.
case 29-123
They should just include the piano with the sale of the house. Lol
EXACTLY
That too, or donate it to the nursing home and get the tax write off like they said. Either way would've been easier than going to court and all that! Oh I almost forgot!!! They still turned out alright because they get that big appearance fee for being on the show! I think it's something like $700 plus hotel & paid traveling expenses!!? (Or something like that) So they made out pretty good I'd say 😂😂😂
When we bought our house in 2011 it came with a pool table with a cool billiards light over it and all the pool sticks, etc. They wanted to leave a piano too but we declined that 😆
nobody wants an old no-name out of tune piano. it's just a liability.
This couple is such goals. Traveling to Florida every year for 5 months- and then being able to go back to your home for the rest of the year. They living their best life.
They can afford it!! They keep suing people on this show... this isn't his first case..
Florida prepares for people like them EVERY year! They’re “snowbirds”
What other case were they in?
That’s very common with the elderly community from NY! We call them snow birds Bc they escape for all the cold weather 😂
My grandparents were snow birds. They would spend the spring and summer in Chicago but go to Selma, Alabama for the fall and winter.
The old couple is ridiculous. If someone changes their mind after leaving a deposit, they lose deposit but they are not obligated to make the purchase.
Probably miffed cause they got sued first
I don't think they totally understood the process. Just because they are elderly does not make them ridiculous.
@@DS-ky9dl No they pretty much demanded they wanted full payment for the piano despite the defendant not purchasing it. Old people are not stupid.. they knew what they were asking for.
They could be entitled to be compensated for the defendant failing to keep to her obligation, but they filed too soon. If they have to pay to get rid of it they could have a case for"Detrimental reliance."
did the woman really say , "we don't at least get $150" at the end lmao
I came back to this video just for that ending
I died 🤣🤣
I thought I was the only that heard that!
lmfao i don't expect anything less from the Steinburg's
why did she ask for 150?!?!?! woooooow she said 100 for the deposit.
50 years is not antique, it is vintage. People love to throw that around to add value to something.
True. That actually could have been part of her defense. Falsely advertised.
You’re correct...it’s considered vintage
So true...isn't something considered an antique at no less than 100 years?
@@lollipopgamerz Yes, 20-99 years is vintage, 100+ years is antique.
Pianos are all over CL for free!!!
The plaintiffs did not understand. Even at the end talking to Doug she was mad that she didn't get the extra money for the sale of the piano. Madame, you did not sell the piano. Why would she have to pay you the full cost of something she didn't actually buy? You got the $100 deposit and the ability to still sell the piano.
I think she’s more pissed by being inconvenienced which I understand cuz it pisses me off when ppl don’t keep their word and I, in turn, have to deal with a problem bc of it. The defendant pissed that sweet old lady off 😂😆I don’t think the defendant is trustworthy tho.
essentially she should have got her deposit back as the receipt states it, regardless if it was bad writing. It is reasonable that it could be interpreted that way and therefore a contract.
@@lisaparrey1343 she should have at least been given $50 back since that was the original deposit amount
@@TheMsklg1981 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@lisaparrey1343 The deposits are NOT refundable. It's the whole point of a deposit.
Them old ppl is ridiculous. She have every right to change her mind. She don't have to get y'all piano. They haven't even moved or sold their house smh pure ridiculousness.
Aww, she said in her sweet little lady voice "we don't even get our $150."
I swear some elderly ppl could take me for a ride. Lol
The woman with the assassin bangs must work for the show. She's always there and always in the front row lol I spot her every time!

I love her look. She reminds me of somebody I use to have a crush on. Also, she is a paid audience member like most of the people in that room.
That ain't fair to make the defendant pay for the moving fees. 🙄🙄 It's annoying, yes but that's just taking advantage. Just be glad to keep the deposit. Side note: Defendant must not like her ex at all to be accusing him of frauds 😭😭
I agree with you why she didn't sue her ex if he forged her signature as she said (I love her eyes and her "Dimple". Usually if you put deposite to hold anything then you changed your mind, you will lose the deposite but you are not obliged to buy nor to pay for the moving the thing.
I think she lied about the boyfriend fraudulently filing that lawsuit. She did it. However, the plaintiffs cannot force her to buy the piano, and she is clearly not entitled to her deposit back.
It's expensive to move a piano. I just bought and moved two for my 8 yrs old. You can't just hire any mover, well you can but you shouldn't. Someone who knows about or how to move them us best. I got her first one for free (paid $300.00 to move a short distance less than 15 miles), but it wasn't great. We gave it away and the second one we had for the piano and the move. Great deal on the piano but not the move. Less mileage on the second move paid less but not according to the milage difference.
@@aprilpinkelton4385 I think the moving company should pay for restoring/repairing cost the piano if they damage it. They have moving insurance.
it is perhaps the reason he is the ex boyfriend and no longer the current one.
I enjoy Doug's commentaries. He's hilarious and shady. Always has his reading glasses on ( metaphorically speaking) throwing shade at the losers of the case. 😫😂
How greedy the older people were. They received money for nothing and still want more.
The younger woman should of not sued them.
the girl said 'i leave a deposit, keep it for me, i'll buy it for sure'... and then she didn't buy it, the couple lost a few opportunities to have the piano sold. the promise was broken and there was an unfortunate misspelling that caused the defendant to believe she would get the deposit back. the couple were sued, and, they countersued. hadn't she sued them in the first place and left the deposit, that would never have had happened...
@@johnsradios484 pretty sure she didn’t and if I was her I’d sue the ex for forging her signature and suing the couple.
@@Saxgod
Agreed. This case was chopped up with misplaced ads and Harvey's interviews🙄 but *nobody went to court* over the $100, so it seems like her ex really did file the lawsuit.
@@heathernks8 if you have UA-cam premium you get no ads. It took me years to finally pay and now I will never go back cause ads are a bitch. Why I pay got as free viewing when offered on Hulu and cbs and other apps lol. Just FYI
The plaintiffs knew her boyfriend filed that case and not her , which is why they kept saying her “then boyfriend “. They must’ve talked about it on the phone at some point .
I don't think so. I believe she filed it.
Question: The plaintiff wants to: 1- Keep the deposit. 2- Keep the piano 3- She wants the defendant to pay the defference "$150" 4- last but not least pay the moving cost. 5- All of the above.
@@so_many_women_so_little_ti2833 Which is ridiculous
@@JeffBurden 🤔What planet she's living in 🙄🙈🤭😁
Shalom my sis 🥰
I use to pick up old upright pianos, nobody wants them.
Most people can't even give them away.
They're huge, heavy, take up a ton of space and piano lessons aren't seen as the same social obligation as they were 50-60 years ago.
I have one. Free to good home. You move it.
This elderly couple is a dynamic duo. They mean business lol. Their just going to force her to take the damn piano 😆.
😂😂
By any means necessary 😂
😂
AND get moving costs
Yes they were really waiting for somebody to show an interest and once they did they had their hooks in and weren't going to let go, also leaving her responsibility for the moving costs.
I can’t believe the plaintiffs were so annoyed to have lost. The minimum payment to appear on this show is $500. They lost the case but still earned plenty of money to hire someone to move that piano right to the curb. Get a life!
There is no minimum to have a case. I've seen as low as $25.00
@F F I’ve heard they get the legal fees covered and $500 each from the show!
@F F yes exactly!! Also makes sense why some of these idiots agree to show their faces on TV 😂

If y’all don’t pay some neighbor boys 20 dollars to put that piano outside with a free sign and leave this girl alone 🤦🏾♂️
This is the most ridiculous case! The judge had each side acknowledge that the other side had a reason to be annoyed, but you can’t sue someone for just being annoying! (Well, you can... But you’re gonna lose.)

Aren't they though!
Judge Milian has a good point. Don't poke the bear and do a lawsuit to get your $100 deposit back.
That dark haired chick behind the defendant, with the Vulcan hairstyle, is always in the audience, as I have seen her in so many episodes. She must live there or something, hehehe!!!
I think the audience has at least SOME actor extras to fill it out.
Why are they so concerned about moving the piano?! Just leave it in the house for the new home owners they may want it! My friend just recently bought a house and the previous couple that moved out left their huge piano, and she loves it!
If the new owners don't want it, though, they shouldn't have to pay for moving or disposing of it. It's the couple's responsibility to either get the new home owners' permission to leave it or to get rid of it themselves.
The sellers of our house left a (as I call it, toilet chair; it looks like an elongated toilet, it’s like a vintage Chase basically, it’s comfy and I love it.) and a cheapy ass desk, but I needed one so I use it and some patio furniture too. 🤷♂️We kept it all lol
Oh and a neat table that’s like a club♣️shape. Perfect for puzzles.

Im dyinggg the old lady said at the end. $150😂😂😂
I can't believe this elderly couple sued this lady because she changed her mind about buying the piano after paying a 100.00 deposit non refundable!!
They're upset that they only got to keep the deposit but you know they're still trying to get 250 for the piano... If i received $100.00 every time someone changed their mind i'd be doing pretty good.
That old women is so slow at getting to the point, the judge had no time for that 😂
12:47 That's it. That's the purpose of such a deposit. If the buyer bails, it offsets the cost of the product and seller is compensated for the time is lost.
So if you leave a deposit on something and don’t end up buying it, you can still be sued? Wow
You can be sued for just about anything. Doesn’t mean it’ll go badly for you. You could buy it, take it away, and be sued because the seller wanted more money. They’ll just lose
I hope their 54 year old daughter looks after the plaintiffs. Someone may take advantage of them. They should keep the 100, but they are greedy wanting 250 plus moving cost. 🙄🙄
“We don’t even get $150” the woman was not satisfied 😭
The look on Douglas face at 6:52 says it all lol. This makes me sad that the older people get the less they comprehend things. It happens to most elderly. You're born a child, then grow up, then become a childlike again. Fact of life.
Antique defined as an article of aesthetic or historical significance over at least 100 years old. The piano is not an antique.
I didn’t think so lol I’m like so ppl in their 50s are antique now? 🤷🏾♀️ 😆
Antique makes it sound much more impressive and valuable than vintage.

I think the piano is beautiful just as it is. It has a ton of character. Just have it tuned and play it.
Sometime it takes more than a tuning to get it to sound right. Pianos are living things. They are made of wood and other natural materials. Weather, humidity or lack of humidity, temperature all play into it. Let's face it, it's an upright not a Steinway or Bosendorfer grand. Not much demand for those old uprights.
8:47 the guy with the green shirt 😂😂

As for the lawsuit thing with the ex, my dad has done stuff like that, I don’t think she dated my dad, but I’m still inclined to believe her 🤣
😂😂 wow! I believe her too
That defendant 😍
Grandma still wanted that $150 lol
No, you DON'T even get $150. Crazy, greedy woman.
First off that piano is more like 150 years old and not 50 years old but most importantly, to everyone who owns these old pianos, they are everywhere. They are a dime a dozen, they are worthless in 99% of the cases and in fact they're even hard to donate because no one wants to pay to fix or tune them. No one wants to move them cuz they weigh half a ton. Old pianos like this start at about $1,000 to refurbish, $600+ to move and it'll be another 300 years before they are worth anything as an antique because of how many there are out there. Not to mention that there are lighter and more practical options out there now. I'd give it away to the first sucker willing to take it! =)
Defendant didn’t go through with the sale… and she didn’t fight for the return of the deposit. This older couple has $100 AND their piano (that they can now sell to someone else for the full $250).. they’re up $100. Kinda dumb that they’re suing her

I liked Milian much better before she was making 8-million per year!! All these Hollywood 'Judges' have totally lost ground and this forum (which used to be purer with Wapner) is just another dramatically hyped production.

Hahaha! I knew someone else had to see catch that.
The plaintiffs are low down freeloading fools to think their problems are someone else’s, the piano is their responsibility not anyone else’s. The plaintiffs are just like those people who think they’re god’s chosen ones those people with the same last names thinking they’re above the law….
Amazing that the plaintiff’s wanted the balance of the sale price, AND still keep the piano to sell to someone else. Oh boy. SMH.
Pretty sure Meadow’s father could make the piano “disappear.”
Didn't I see this same defendant in a People's Court with Wapner ?

I'm a retired musician (piano). Those old "uprights" are worthless ... total junk! You'll spend a fortune trying to fix the thing, and it will still be crap! Never buy one. Those old suckers (older than me) are GREEDY. All this for a stinkin' hundred bucks?
Jeez you would think the older you get the wiser you become but I guess that's not true.
Omg...apparently they just don't get it. Kinda greedy I think and selfish on the old couples part.

I can't believe people sue for these petty amounts, is it worth it?
Their mad because they are stuck with a piano. No one has space for a piano in their homes anymore and they are super hard to even give away.

&& nobody wants a broken ass piano they are gonna pay THOUSANDS to move AND fix!

THAT AIN'T NO C 😂😂😂😂 THAT WAS A REFUND!!!
The couple is the cutest but I see free pianos on FB marketplace everyday, they are expensive to move and tune.
I agree. I still have my vintage piano, plus an electric one, because the vintage one needs fixing.
Is the plaintiff the same as the guy who was in another case about selling a CDC Machine? the name is the same I think - Marty Steinberg. And yes, I know I watch these too much.
yeah he is!
many years ago my ex wife bought a piano, we got it in through the back door via a back gate, when we went to move out two years later, the landlord hadn't paid for the 'fee' to enable access through the back gate and was selling the house so we had to move out and it was totally blocked, this old piano was originally a self player that had been changed to physical player, we couldn't get it out through the front door because of a staircase so ended up ripping it apart and taking to the dump, was a very sad day
Take the piano on the plane with you next time you go to Florida, maybe the Captain will buy it.
There are pianos like that for free on Craigs list all the time. People don't want to have to move it.
I guess this case proves that irrational, and unfair attempts at getting whatever amount of money they can out of someone knows no age limits. Sad that at the end the wife couldn’t understand why they weren’t getting the rest of the money for the piano, and they shouldn’t because she didn’t buy it.
