Waking up and feeling you belong is the most wonderful feeling one can have.
The way Steve described how he felt when he visited Africa was so beautiful and yet so telling of the inherent racism that is literally built into the fabric of America.

When I took my 16 years old to Africa he said I wake up seeing myself every day and I don’t have to to-prove I am a good kid that stack with me this days after 18 years I feel his pain still this days

I am a white South African and couldn't deal with all the white people when I was a working and travelling in Europe. African people should teach the world about humanity and reciprocity. Africa, in your fold we will never be cold.

I love Steve Harvey. I was raised in bad conditions and environment and I still have a dream at 23 I’ll be something one day. This man made it at 40 and he’s an inspiration to me to keep going no matter what and no matter what age I am. Thank you Steve. 💜

He's 100 % right. I spent a month In Barbados ( birth place of my mother) and I felt happier. Less stressed. And confident. Something I don't really feel as a minority in Canada... Understanding that it's worse in America.. we aren that much different.

I’d like to know what it feels like to not worry about being black in America. What it’s do for one’s mental and physical health is unparalleled.
Well, As East African Black immigrant living well in the United States. I have zero worries. I hardly think of my race. I feel I'm the chosen one. I feel my neighbors are often envy of my family. I guess, being African immigrant does NOt qualify me to answer this question. But I had to.

@@ashanyc9146 I think you missed the intent behind my comment. It lacked a question mark in part because it was a rhetorical question. It’s great that you don’t feel the boot of racial oppression while living in America. I grew up around East Africans and the person I considered my closet friend in high school was Ethiopian. With that being said, I understand there’s great variation in identifying with blackness amongst north and East Africans. Nevertheless, I suppose the experience of African Americans differs. 🤷🏿♂️

It is very rare that Mr. Harvey does an interview in the past past 15+ years that he is not sharing parts of his story (his pursuit of success and good character) and thanking God for walking with him and carrying him....through the good, bad, and the ugly. I see a combination of humility, while unapologetically walking in the blessings of God!!! Everybody won't go the whole journey with us AND that is just the way it is.

As an African who love our wild life to death, I would love each and every child to experience just the wild life on the continent. It changes the way you look at our planet and you learn to give it more respect.
