    Wow....excellent video! The ones you mentioned are exactly the ones I got before I saw this video! I subscribed and hit the like button. I wish there was one for the Dead Sea Scrolls....an encyclopedia that was current and not super expensive. Please continue to do lots of videos as I love your scholarly point of view which is hard to find on the internet. Books are expensive...in hardcover but I hate paperbacks. Books are like the sweetest candy. Thanks.

    I noticed you mentioned several times that this or that particular resource is good because it “objectively” treats a subject, implying that others (more conservative resources, actually) do not treat things objectively. However, according to some conservatives, for example, Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary should be read with caution, because it is written from a theologically moderate/liberal perspective.
    One must realize that everyone has a bias - every resource, no matter what it is - and I myself have biases. One of my basic assumptions is that God has revealed Himself in the inerrant, infallible Scriptures called the Bible, and these, being from God Himself, are incapable of any error - any form of error of any kind. This very Word of God reveals that Jesus Christ is God Himself, the second Person of the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), where God has also revealed Himself as One God in three distinct Persons (see Mark chapter 1 for an example of all three Persons at the same time - they do not cease to be one to be the other, for example, but always ). This Word also reveals that the sinless Son of God came to die on the cross of Golgotha 2000 years ago to atone for my sin - and for the sin of the whole world - so that all who would repent/turn from their sin and, in that same action, turn and cast themselves completely upon Jesus Christ by faith alone for the forgiveness of their sin, these precious souls would not perish but would be given everlasting life, forgiveness of their sin, an eternal Home called heaven, and a Heavenly Father who has always desired them to be in relationship with them.
    You were created to know the Word, and to live the Word. To know the Word - to know Jesus Christ personally - who Himself is God who put on flesh and was crucified and resurrected three days later - and to live the Word - to put the Word of God into practice, to be conformed into the image of the Son for the rest of your life as a believer and follower of Christ.

      Where did you read that God literally put on flesh? Or that the Trinity is real? The Bible teaches that Jesus is the one God’s “son” and “Christ”

    Most Christians who are not in seminary or in ministry will never need the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary. It would be a waste of money in my mind for them to acquire it. Other more affordable options would give them enough. I feel the same way about the New Interpreters' dictionaries and commentaries. The IVP set, however, is a solid recommendation. You seem to like recommending liberal resources.

    Hi, I have a question.
    would there be any non-unitarian dictionaries that would compete with the ones that you just mentioned ?
    I just wanna get a proper perspective of what is out there. Its not like I wouldn't consider getting a dictionary because it is unitarian. Its just to get a proper picture of things.
    Appreciate you sharing this info.
    Thanks!

      I don't think any of the dictionaries I recommended are "unitarian." However, some of the contributors of the NIB dictionary expound trinitarian readings of the Bible, so you might try looking there.

      @@JacobElliottSermons "Dale Tuggy" has a video explaining this, I will link it in an edit. However to answer your question myself when Biblical Unitarians say that there is no Trinity they don't mean that "the Father", "Jesus" and "the Holy Spirit" are not people/things that exist in the Bible, sometimes even mentioned alongside each other. Peter James and John exist in the Bible. Sometimes they are mentioned next to each other. No one ever thinks this somehow means they are really secretly one being in essence.

    What do you mean by "biblical unitarians"?

    • @juliataboada8202
      @juliataboada8202 2 роки тому +3

      What he means is that he does the not believe in the trinity....meaning he either believes God manifests in modes of the father modes of the son and modes of the holy spirit as the same person but different modes ...best known as modelism.....any variation of that doctrine is heresy .....God is one but three distinct coeternal persons father son and holy spirit

    • @youngknowledgeseeker
      @youngknowledgeseeker Рік тому +1

      Biblical Unitarians believe that the bible teaches that God is one single person alone, like every other being we see in existence, and that that one person is the Father. They believe that Jesus is his son, but not himself, and that he is his son through the miracle birth through God's spirit and power that brought him into existence. They believe the Holy Spirit is most likely not a separate person from the Father but instead is a way of speaking about God in his "operational power and presence".
      "Unitarian" means that someone believes that God is one person, the "Biblical" part means that they try to get all their theology and beliefs from scripture as their highest authority, not tradition or ideologies.

      @@domcruise274 We're just trying to be as honest as possible with the text according to all the knowledge available to us regarding language, translation, historical context, and scholarship. James Dunn, Bart Ehrman, JAT Robinson are some top scholars among a few who also fully realize that the New Testament authors, and by proxy the earliest Christians, either in part or in majority or in full don't show any sign that they knew of the Trinity or even of the concept of Jesus being God, nor did they teach it.
      I would suggest you just hear the claims and evidence out yourself before judging or making rash and derogatory statements unbecoming of you.
      Even if the Trinity is true or deity of Jesus it doesn't seem to be from the New Testament or at least not in the authors minds or awareness. Instead it would seem to be a form of "progressive revelation" or "dispensationalism", ie God later revealed it to his Church.
