" sounds like you have really thought about this... love you bunches and she is welcome anytime!"
I knew this girl, her parents were really open and accepting. when she told them of her polyamorous relationship with two long-term boyfriends, it was not a deal at all. but when she wanted to buy a flattening iron they percieved it a symbol for hustle-culture wasting your lifetime on 40-hour week, they were pretty disappointed in her 😂😂😂😂
Tbh, if I've already prepared dinner and my husband has already done the groceries with a ton of requests for chicken and beef meals throughout the week, I think we have every right to be disappointed. Meal restrictions and considerations due to somebody's health and/or picky preferences cut out a lot of fun and lee way for meal prep.
My parents reaction when I cam out as bisexual. My dad: “Yeah we knew. You literally say slay all the time and we hear your conversations with your female friends.” My mom: “As the gays say, slay”
This was literally my family's reaction to my brother. He came out and everything was fine and a few months later he tried to go vegan and everyone was on his neck hahaha
It's because sexual orientation does not involve victims, just consensual adults it's personal. If you become vegan you remind/point out to people that they pay for the murder, torture and exploitation of innocent creatures for sensual pleasure even when they can choose to eat plant based they choose not to.
... That is something I can understand. Who you love is a thing between you and your partner. No one else is gonna have any downsides or something, beside from having to interact with them from time to time and hopefully getting along. But vegan? That means you have to either specifically cook for someone or you have to look out for dishes that are vegan! That puts labor on you!
These parents: Being gay okay, does not affect us, like who you like. Being vegan, OH so now we gotta change our ENTIRE meal plan to suit you, give me a break!
I mean yeah, a meal plan is a meal plan though. Doesn't matter how you cut it, cause now you'll probably need to see what you can actually eat now thanks to being vegan instead of being an omnivore.

"We've sheltered you, not everybody else in the world is going to be so accepting of your vegan lifestyle. It's dangerous out there, your poor grandmother, you know how old-fashioned she is..."
I agree with the parents. Who you love isn't inconvenient to other people because it's just a different person sitting in the same chair at Thanksgiving. Accommodation is not needed. Veganism though needs much accommodation and a lot of planning.

I thought about doing this, but I don't have even a decent relationship with my dad. I'd probably end up dating whoever I wanted (assuming I'd even find someone who's interested in me, and I in them) without so much as a "hey, I'm dating this person and bringing them over for Christmas" call/text. ... That is something I can understand. Who you love is a thing between you and your partner.
