I like this system much better, it will make for more natural feeling cities- especially late game, where you wanna admire what you've accomplished but the lands of your civ has become cluttered with buildings of economic importance but little to no visual charm

Everybody is freaking about the ages and civ changes but no one cares about the gameplay improvements. I’m fairly certain it’s gonna be the most fun civ game.

Civ 6 felt like you were building a tourist brochure for your civ over the course of 100+ turns, and it was just an eyesore. But civ 7 looks so great. For the first time, i can look at a civilization game city and actually imagine people living there.

You must have low standards if you think Civ7 looks great

Yeah the cities look fantastic, like a little diorama. They really knocked its out of the park there.

this sounds much better to me! when I play CIV6 the main point of my game is to make my cities look nice, ill even space my cities far apart and sacrifice yield bonuses to give it a better look. so I'm hoping this new system can give me the best of both worlds

I don't know how I feel about these. On the one hand, the new urban sprawl look is great, exactly how a city should work. But planning the city layout to account for all the relevant adjacencies is one of the most fun things about Civ 6. Particularly when you're doing this on a border city where you might end up not having all the necessary hexes at all, or when your planning incorporates some critical wonder which you then have to rush. I also think I'll miss builders. Sure, there is a fair bit of micromanagement with them, but the thing is that since you have to spend production or gold on getting the builders in the first place, it's often a legit decision whether you can afford to build/buy a builder now or do you have to rush something else first. That decision is gone if tile improvements are automatic with population growth.
And I don't think it's fair to criticise the previous games' worked tile selection as being micromanagement for one simple reason - you don't have to do it. The option is there for the rare cases when you really need it, but the automatic assignment is just fine for the vast majority of situations.

Once the map is revealed I always lose that thrill of adventure and mystery. Being a geography geek I suppose this will make me an AGE OF DISCOVERY player. I'm excited that Civ 7 allows me to indulge my personal fetish for exploration. I want to voice my support and admiration to the CIv7 team for exploring new game mechanics and taking chances that can only broaden the horizons for Civilization.

I like that! If they fix the AI too, we may finally enjoy a Civ since the 4th

I was skeptical at first as a civ 5 fan. But I am growing more anticipation as they reveal more about the details of civ 7. I'm glad to see they are taking cues from older games as well as new and making a better game as a whole for it (or at least appears to be).

*Counter to "checkerboard" cities:* Adjacency bonuses. _E.g. Granary adjacent to Barracks boosts unit production._
That way you'll have to choose between culture bombing more tiles vs. packing tighter for adjacency.

Well unless you are able to build granary and barracks on the same hex?

@@bra5081 from what I seen from the previews you can. And apparently building combos can provide bonuses. But to encourage clustered urban areas some effects would need to be to adjacent tiles.

City building is great. But would the map size be big enough to contain lot of civs?

I never had a problem with having lots of units damn it every total war player is like this but my friends lose their selves when their units gets bigger and higher numbers. I like to play this new army system. For the city it will change civ forever cuz it is not going to have a earth kind map what? You are going to make all Europe one city? And if the cities are going to get bigger the space between them is going to get bigger I don't like having two cities like this near each other and if this happens the map size would be massive. I mean masssssive Raven bigger than custom made civ6 maps. Hop it tours out to be good. 👍 😊

First time we get to build railway stations in civ I think ? It seems to fill the whole hexagon though, is it a wonder ?

Civ 7 needs to replace the micromanaging with something else. Otherwise, it might start to feel more like a mobile game than a fleshed out strategy game.

Also, they need to make sure they the war and military tactics are in depth, almost like playing different victories create totally different games.

Idk much yet but I would not worry about that at all, now that much of the old system is scrapped, they are able to introduce better depth via newer mechanics.

I get the feeling they want Civ 7 to be more approachable for new players- especially as it's launching simultaneously on consoles.
There's still plenty of cool mechanics to keep it interesting and we'll have to see what else they have to reveal. 🙂

Garbage Humankind Mechanics, PtW dlc civ/leaders and Most of all Denuvo DRM make Civ 7 an easy pass. So many better games coming out, but hey if you want to fuck up your PC with Denuvo enjoy
