Dear Americans, musicians, guitar nerds and all music lovers, cherish this man for what he is and what he has blessed us with. There is no one like Steve! My hero and a great hero of the human kind.
Met Steve once backstage in Hamburg during DP's "Bananas" tour. The nicest, most humble, down-to-earth guy you can imagine. And one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Steve Morse is One in 100 Million - without question. His technique, versatility, and sheer ability on the instrument is legendary, and modern players have him to thank for setting the shredder bar so high - and so many have taken that ball and ran with it; achieving unbelievable technical perfection. However, compositions are where we separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak, and the Morseman is a monster composer. Like a bizarre genetic hybrid of Bach and Billy Gibbons, his melodic sense, harmonic depth, and balance of sensitive phrasing and ferocious attack place him up on the Mount Rushmore (or Mount Olympus?) of musicians. Thank you Steve!!!
I’m saddened by Steve’s wrist affecting him - yet thankful he can still share his amazing music, abilities and spirit. Such an influence in my life. Incredible person and unique talent!
A buddy and I went to see Steve at the Orpheum Theatre in the late 80's or early 90's. He was at the ticket booth talking to the person working there. We couldn't get up the courage to walk up and talk to him, he was 10 feet from us. It was a great show and I'll always regret not going up and saying hello. Great musician and seems like a great person too.
I will never tire of saying that Steve Morse has been, is, and will be the Master of Masters. Thank you Steve, for all your teachings, for your passion, and your humility.
Dude….This man’s character is so genuine! There is certainly love is in his heart and that is so cool to see in such a gifted musician. The ability to make music and play guitar is gift from God.
Steve Morse talking about his life and music? The man has earned this video my like long before I started watching it - a master of his craft and a true gentleman. Thank you for the music and best wishes in weathering everything you’re going through right now, Steve.
What an inspiring story. Ernie Ball, please do String Theory videos more often, some of us live and breathe better each day one of these videos drops. I've been struggling with committing full time to music for a long time too, quit my job for music but couldn't figure the money stuff out so left music full time - but my heart doesn't belong anywhere else, and I'm happiest and healthiest playing the guitar. Good to know I've not been alone in this situation, and somewhat proud that it was shared with the likes of Steve Morse. Maybe I'll find my way with this dilemma too just as him. Again, please keep these videos coming more often!
Steve has been a guitar hero to me as long as I can remember, but discovering what a great all-around human being he is, he's become a hero in every way. A good man with a great outlook on life and music. A great role model.
Thank you so much for this there is only one Steve Morse and he has been a gift to us all! Please keep these interviews coming he has so much more to share!
Thank you Steve! You are truly a beautiful soul Inspiring all of us to be the best we can be. I've Learned so much from Watching you play and Preform through the years. Your music is So exciting & beautiful Thank you for your years of dedication... 🎼🎸👍
Steve is certainly one of the all time great guitarists and composers. His music is incredible and brings so much joy to so many people. The fusion of styles, influences, with creativity and originality is off the charts. Instantly recognizable and legendary. Thank you Steve and the Ball family. Balls are Best!
Steve is terrific! I remember he played Happy Birthday on guitar for Jason Becker on his Birthday. It was amazing! I didn’t know Happy Birthday could sound do beautiful!
Thank-you Steve! Total respect for your work. And equally, EB: love your commitment from the beginning to the present to the artists, the art, the science, the need to run a viable business, and most of all to the universal language--Music. We love you EB!
This is a wonderful video that Steve and his fans deserved from his endorser, to appreciate his lifetime achievement . Well done for all the guys worked on it. 👏🎸
Had the pleasure of attending a clinic with Steve in the early 80s. Guitar Showcase, San jose CA. I was 13 and just learning to play. Was totally floored. To this day his music inspires me every time I hear it.
I'm very happy to see him looking and sounding so great! Recently in his Rick Beato interview he seemed a little... not so great. I know it's been a rough couple of years for him. God bless, Steve!
One of my heroes. I remember seeing Steve perform with Purple in the DVD Perihelion when I was 14 and being totally mesmerized with his playing. I've learned so much from him, but the volume swells were the thing for me growing up. Thanks for your beautiful music Mr. Morse.
Steve, I miss you from DP. Purpendicular is my album, no one writes as soulful melody as “Sometimes I feel like screaming”. I felt incredible sadness when I heard your departure, for the right reasons. I am really sorry what happened with your wife. God Bless Her, and God Bless You! Thank you for all the great memories from the Budapest concerts and the meet & greet. My Family and myself won’t forget your kindness, happiness and always cheerful energy that you gave on and off stage. We were incredibly lucky that we witnessed the greatness of the very humble Mr. Steve Morse. Thank you 🤘😍🤘 A Hard Rocking Family from Hungary
Thank you so much for that amazing Interview. That was so brilliantly done and I wish it could have gone on for hours! Thanks you Ernie Ball and of course thank you Maestro Steve Morse!!!
I have to add my experience to the many before. I met Steve at Saratoga Winners, in Colonie NY back in the early 90's, and talked with him a bit, and I saw him interact with other musicians who "dreamed" of talking to him, and he was the nicest, most approachable, most humble, real, down-to-earth musician, and person, I ever met, and the remains so to this day. He is truly a Blessing. He LITERALLY that night made me choose between playing drums and playing guitar. Guitar it was, and still is. His musical gift continues to both inspire and astound.! Thank you Steve! And thank you Ernie Ball and Music Man, and the entire family and team, for your absolutely amazing and inspiring products and instruments!
What an inspiring video, from the great Steve Morse. I heard him for the first time on an album by a french finger style guitarist Marcel Dadi and suddenly said :Wow, who’s doing these awesome solo parts!!! After that I discovered what a great talent he was. Saw him every time DP was in town and once to a G3 concert where he gently signed my Steve Morse signature guitar. He was so kind. Steve is and will be my number one. Thank you for this wonderful video.
Thank you Steve for sharing your many life's journeys with us thru your inspiring music and guitar playing. Thank to the Ball family for helping to make it possible for us to hear Steve's music.
I remember Steve Morse with his crazy long hair leaning back on a couch with a Frankentele in Guitar World. Managed to find a cassette of The Introduction and it was the soundtrack to the best summer of my life. He introduced me to the great Albert Lee on the song General Lee. And his next album introduced me to Eric Johnson. He’s been inspiring me since the first day I heard him. Thank you Mr. Morse…this is a beautiful human being!
This is such a great presentation of the Steve Morse story as he plays in the background giving us a look into his journey and how it all happened. Wonderful to learn so much about this great man. Loved hearing him play "Highland Wedding" here, such a masterpiece from such a "master" what a gift this man is to the world of guitar/music, may you live a thousand years Steve Morse
For me one of the greatest guitarists we have in the world💜🎶⚡️🎸⚡️💜I want to hear a lot more from Steve Morse and would love to see him live🔊💥🔊🤘🏼I had the chance to go with Deep Purple in Bonn, but unfortunately Steve wasn't there. So the only hope is that he will go on tour in Europe one day, where I can be there🙏🏼🇩🇪🫶🏼🙋🏻♀️
Thanks Steve for the music and inspiration. It led me on a quest I never would have taken had I not picked up a guitar. There have been so many hard times along the way that without music I surely would have lost my way. If you have a song in your heart, then it's one that must be played. That is the well every musician drinks from. And in the sense we are never alone. Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness. 'Maya Angelou'
A great human being.A brilliant musician.Sometimes I I Feel Like Screaming is the most melodic and "feel" solo for me.Has been playing on my head since 1996.Cheers to the legendary Steve Morse from Singapore.Wish you well always.Thank you for everything you have done:)
In my early years of playing, I'd heard of Steve Morse and read his articles in various magazines, but back then I was a kid and it wasn't like today where I could jump on the internet and learn about someone. I came across his book A Journey Through Life with Guitar and read it over and over, highlighting, and taking notes. I don't know when or how it was lost to the journey, but this vid made me go buy it again tonight. Looking forward to the refresher and hopefully, many more years of his music.
Never had the oportunity to meet him, but as someone who has tried to play a guitar, loves DP and Steves guitar playing style, I sure would fly wherever it takes to see and hear him play.
The fact that he joined Deep Purple made him more known by larger audiences, and gave him more financial return (wich he's worthy). But, in terms of music creativity, it was less challenging than what he was doing before (Dixie Dregs and Steve Morse Band). When I listen to his compositions back at the Dixie Dregs and Steve Morse Band days, I have no doubt that he is the GOAT. And it's so sad to see him getting old. (And worse: I don't see anyone taking his place - in terms of style). It's a kind of geniusess that will be lost forever.
I went to see RUSH in San Antonio, TX in 1985 - I was 19 yrs young. I hurried into the arena because I could hear their opening band had already begun playing... The Steve Morse Band. I was like.. WHOA! Who is this band? What I remember thinking is how good this band NEEDED to be in order for them to be warming up for RUSH. Well, it didn't take long for me to realize The Steve Morse Band was the real deal. Rod Morgenstein's playing ability and smile said it all, as well. RUSH was excellent but the real love affair with The Steve Morse Band had been ignited. "Golden Quest" became one of my all-time favorite tunes. Who would have thought, Tom Scholz would have company at the top of my personal list of American rock & roll Idols. Walk On Steve Morse!!
Saw The Dregs for the first time, opening for Pure Prairie League, in Denver, summer 1979. Next was High Tension Wires tour, in Houston, with T. Lavitz. Although I'm a drummer, Steve's playing and composing has been an enormous influence on me not only musically, but in my life. Funny that I'm just now finding out that his dad was a preacher so he was surrounded by sacred music, because when I heard him in the '70s, I thought, this sounds like church music influence, a little bit. What a life! 🎉❤👍🤩
Back in the early 80s a friend introduced me to the music of Steve Morse but playing an album titled.....The Introduction. First track.....Cruise Missle....blew my doors down. Very unique, shreddy style...❤

That’s really cool to hear! Have met John Petrucci at some of their concerts and had the same thoughts.

What an absolute gem of a human. Steve is probably the most humble "guitar hero" in history. Still underappreciated.
Paul Gilbert and Petrucci too
