I am a traveller in the lone desert It's nothing special I can stand the wind I can stand the thirst And the sun I know how to go and walk Until the setting of the sun In the desert, flat and empty, where nothing is given My head is alert, awake I have climbed up and climbed down The mountains where I was born I know in which caves the water is hidden These worries are my friends I'm always on familiar terms with them and that
I just learned about Tinariwen when they performed at the FIFA 2010 Kick-off concert in Johannesburg. After that ultimately I fell in love with this band. I downloaded their album 'Amassakoul' and the songs were awesome. God Bless Tinariwen!
The people of North Africa (Berber"s) were great seafarers trading in "far distant shores"their ships came to our Islands a thousand or more years ago. we had gold copper"to trade" ,social contact followed and "the melody and rhythm" of African music was seeded into our culture,it is reflected our appreciation and understanding of Tinariwen,Are we not like Caravans passing in the desert or"like ships passing each other at sea".From the UK Peace be upon you in the holy month of Ramadan
Tinariwen have a magical influence on many types of audience. Even now, after 4 years of listening to their music, I can be transported to a calmer, happier place just by switching off to the stresses of life and focusing on their superb musical delivery.
La ou vous aller, vous avez l art de donner de la couleur au désert ! De faire vibrer L âme targui ! Bravo vous êtes les meilleurs ambassadeurs de la culture berbère .
Why some people are fighting about their origin or their land ? We are all brothers and sisters ...we are made of clay and water how can we own the land that we were made of ? Peace and love guys...great music that shows a great culture ! And once again peace and love with all people of good will ..
Gives birth to the stories of my life You who are organised, assembled, walking together Hand in hand, you're living A path which is empty of meaning In truth, you're all alone
Oh, I adore Tinariwen. Got to see them in New York last year. But on an outdoor stage would be so much better, I think. Après avoir passé deux ans au Mali, sa musique, son peuple, et sa beauté naturelle me manquent enormement. C'est la nostalgie! Un jour, inshallah, je retournerais...

You are very true my friend. In spite i'm not an African but Greek, i believe strongly the same thing. Blues are truly coming from Sahara not from south states of the USA, because many people tells the last one scenery i wrote, but it is a fail and only a fail!!! Blues inverted in America from the African slaves. It is not an another american "country" kind of music but it is west-African and Saharan. And Tuareg (Imuhag) are the only authentic "bluesers"!!!
There are many kinds of Berbers, touareg people are one of them. Morocco's berbers are mostly Riffian and Chleuh. Berber people are inherently North African, not only Moroccan.

Amassakoul 'N' Ténéré, is the song. Don't know the album but you can find the song on the MALI album by world music specialists PUTUMAYO. (putumayo presents mali) contains other great artists + notes on all of them + a mali recipe
for touargs ther's no state, no border lines, no flag!! so mali or algeria doesn't mean no thing for them . their land is the desert their language is the berber. they have to be free now and all the berbers of north africa. god bless us the berbers .
@Royaliste1966 / i agree with you and this music is soooo good/ who cares about language or dialect/ i'm irish and have fallen love with this group!!!!!
@themoorish1 They sang under the Algerian flag at the World Cup opening party. Openly waving the Algerian flag during the performance...so despite being "freedom fighter" songwriters, they still recognise Algeria as a state.
The guitarist in the blue robe who stands right in front of the percussionist (the one who said thank you very much at the end) is not on KXEP's 2023 feature performance of Tinariwen's new album. He appeared with the band for many years. Does anybody know what happened to him?

John Lee Hooker would have loved this: pulsating, hypnotic, desert blues that pull you into a trance.
