People need to stop expecting God of War quality game Sony Bend is a far smaller studio that have never made a PS4 game before only PS1, PS2 and Vita plus it’s the completely new IP with the horde system really pushing the PS4s hardware to its max this game is a solid 7 to 8 out of 10 and that’s exactly what I expected.
Finally someone who appreciates the effort bend studio put into this. For their first attempt at a game of this magnitude they did pretty good to me, if this becomes a franchise they’re definitely gonna do waaay better
Far Smaller studio? Sony Santa Monica has 200 employees and Sony Bend has 135, which qualifies both as big Triple A game studios, although still smaller than the biggest AAA game studios out there. In fact, Corey Balrog himself defined Santa Monica as a "not so big AAA studio". Days Gone it's a AAA first party Playstation game developed with a bigger budget than Uncharted 4 which makes the game a huge disappointment. Not only it did a lot less than other open world games but it did it far worse too. It's ok if you end up making a 7.5 game(this is a 6.5 at best) but at least make it something unique that you can't really find elsewhere on the market or at least on PS.
I never thought I would say this, but this game with all of its problems is really enjoyable and great game and I mean it! I bought this game last week and started playing it. After maybe 5 hour, I wasn't sure if I want to play it more ( I said to myself: buying this game was a mistake), but I played it and than after few more hours I couldn't stop playing! Yes, this game has its problem but the good things about it are very stronger than the bad things and I loved the story, every character in the game (except one) I loved that it's a long game and the fact that after hours of playing the game introduces you to new area, new enemies, and much more. First I suggest everyone, who wants to try it don't hesitate and second if you can start the game on hard difficulty, Man it make the game more intense (after killing a larg horde on hard, I was so happy like I killed Father Gascoigne from Bloodborne) I really can't wait for the Days Gone 2. 8 out of 10 for me, but a really great 8.

Wow. I wonder if these recent games, in addition to their recent strange decisions, are signs that Playstation is starting to slip again. Skipping e3, a lackluster direct-style video presentation, more and more censorship, and now this 7.5 exclusive? Couple all that with the only other game they've got any time soon being the Dreams beta of all things? Not looking to good right now as far as I can see.
This is the most honest review n review score u have seen for this game. I love this channel. Unlike Gamespot n IGN where they gives out shit score just to get clicks.
It’s annoying with all the hate. Yeah the game is not going to be perfect, don’t forget the company has not made a console game in a decade. If this was made by rockstar or Ubisoft, I would understand being more harsh
Was gonna get DG tonight for day one. Now I'm a bit more skeptical after the few honest reviews I have seen. The repetition, frame rate and A.I intelligence or lack thereof are my biggest concerns.
solarneddy already purchased and I am loving this game so much that I don’t even want to go to work this morning. Lol. To me it’s a little better than The Last Of Us and I love that game too.
This is a fair review. A bit harsh because it is an 8/10 easily in my books; but still fair; not like the IGNorant review (very stupid indeed), or the gamespot review that make no sense at all.
I didn't think a Playstation exclusive could just be average at best, but here we are with Days Gone... Not to mention the devs of this game only made a handful of PS1, PS2 and PSP games, no PS3 games. Why would you make this game a PS4 exclusive, given the lack of originality, quality and development experience. Not to mention the models, scenery and environments look like crap compared to others, such as Last of Us, Horizon, etc.
There just isnt much interesting about this game to me. I'd say I'm zombied out, but there's certainly new paradigms within this genre that cloud be created.
im still getting it gameplay looks awesome remember witcher 3 was really buggy at first but became an absolute master piece after patches so i have hope (well i kinda have to since i already pre ordered the game haha)
Gamespot's "review" feels like the main reason why the reviewer hated the game is because she didn't like the protagonist as a person, for some reason. Also, this is how their review starts: "The over-the-top libertarian character takes you out with a rifle and shows you how to track a deer". LOL.
I have finished this game on every difficulty!!! I have never had any performance issues EVER!!! They have fixed all the bugs and add a Challenge Mode where you can earn patches that give you buffs that transfer to the game. This is the BEST video game I have ever played. Fairest review I've seen of this game!!! If you review it again, I'm sure you would rate it at least an 8.5 if not 9.0. For me it will always be a10.0.
I really respect your reviews but days gone is still getting hate because people keep comparing it to game that are literal 9/10 's , this type of game was a first for bend studio and I think they did a fantastic job. Their passion and hard work really paid off. There is a patch that was released not too long ago that cleared up whatever bugs and sound and other problems there were so the game is even better now. I really think this should be a day one game for people who want adventure and a good single player game.
Sorry, but your comment seems extremely biased. All games aren't reviewed in a vacuum. The industry being what it is, you can't give this game a high score if a lot of better games are out there. You can't just claim all the bugs have been fixed with the first patch. That would be unprecedented and is completely unrealistic. Fixing bugs also doesn't necessarily make the game itself better. It just makes it more stable. People should look at this game critically like every other game out there before buying.
@@Ayoul we all have our opinions and some people might not like the game and for some this could be their favorite game of 2019 so far, I'm just saying that the review scores don't always have to sway your choice of whether you should or shouldn't purchase the game. I have already played this game and in my opinion I really like it and I don't think it deserves such low scores but at the same time the scores are fair in terms of others opinions. I do hope people give this game a chance because I know how passionate the team is about this game and I do know many people will really like this game
@@nawaazsuleman I agree with most of that, but it applies to pretty much all games. It's weird to single out Days Gone in particular. I only disagree that because a team is passionate, than people should buy the game. People should do whatever they feel like based on the info that is out there about the game. Being passionate sometimes isn't enough to make a great game and there's a lot of great games out there.
Just finished the story, played the game for 80 hours so far, did most of the side stuff. I feel like there should be follow up reviews these days with games getting patches and stuff. Yes, it should have been less buggy at launch, but the game seems very different from the state it was in here. Especially on PS5, the game looks so awesome, runs butter smooth and the story plus open world are great. It's like Mad Max meets last of us. ''Bloated festering genre''? The only thing bloated is people saying this over and over again. By that logic aren't shooters a bloating festering genre, super hero films are bloated too, and why not say battle royal as well just because they are made in abundance. For some reason zombie games get called over used while everyone gets to make the same genre in a span of a month. I never understood this so please explain it to me. I think one group didn't like zombie games so they called them overused then everyone just ran with that for some reason.
I'm a huge of zombies, RE is one of my favorite game franchises of all time. But the genre is pretty bloated (although I think it's more the open-world genre that's the big hindrance here and not the zombie part). But yeah, FPS and battle royal as well. It's all the same and so boring
@@Goomyx1492 As long as you're saying it's true for other genres then fine but my point was that the zombie genre seems to get called out on it far more than the others. There are genres for a reason. Categories for people to select from to suit their taste.

Seth Ritchie Xbox gamer I take it? (This is where you say you play all consoles; this game just looks lackslustre, derivative and offers nothing new to the gaming industry.) Yawn.
Great review and fair
Imma wait to play it on my PS5 next year! :)
8/10 👌
It’s annoying with all the hate. Yeah the game is not going to be perfect, don’t forget the company has not made a console game in a decade. If this was made by rockstar or Ubisoft, I would understand being more harsh
Aren’t people supposed to judge a game by its own merits rather than by who made it
Hubblebub Lumbubwub yeah but it’s mostly getting hate from the bugs and glitches
The company has only 120 employees! They did a great job with this game.
''only 120 employees''
Wow, AAA devlopment has gotten really out of hand
@@hubblebublumbubwub5215 Days Gone development started with only 50 people. It's barely around 136 people now.
Brandon is awesome. One of the best reviewers out there.
You were too generous this time EZA. The game looks boring, repetitive and glitchy.
Unlike anthem, days gone can be saved
Was gonna get DG tonight for day one. Now I'm a bit more skeptical after the few honest reviews I have seen. The repetition, frame rate and A.I intelligence or lack thereof are my biggest concerns.
Picking up 2 copies of Days Gone. One for me and one for a friend.
steve mack that’s very generous. Unless you absolutely must play this right now I’d recommend waiting for a sale.
solarneddy already purchased and I am loving this game so much that I don’t even want to go to work this morning. Lol. To me it’s a little better than The Last Of Us and I love that game too.
solarneddy Also I’ve been playing for 6 hrs now and never came across any bugs. Riding the bike is feels good on this to.
@stevemack yes love this game.... It's just xbox fans that's trying to down play this.... I bet you he don't respond back.
Never even heard of this game. Looks great, gonna get it.
they just released a new patch today 1.04. Will probably release another one tomorrow to fix everything. They are moving fast.
Ill be the judge!!
9:06 “Days Gone is incredibly moving” 😂
The game no one wants or cares about
🤦♂️ do yourself a favor and shut up

Sold a lot.
Great review Jones. Always unbiased, neutral, but still exciting over the parts that get you going. Keep it up!
Thanks Jones!
That's a shame.
So we wait to buy this one on sale. But what to play until for us casuals?
So you review it like it's an average game, a 5/10, but give it a 7.5? Which is very good? GameSpot was more honest.
I'll wait a few months until it's cheaper and most of the bugs have been fixed. This and ACG's reviewer are the best I've seen so far.
Agreed.
Nice review, after a price drop and a lot of updates I hope, I think buying this game.
Question, did you review it after the patch or before?
I still don’t get how Deacon can attach weapons to his back without them falling off..
I listen to this and it confuses me about the Gamespot review.
Gamespot's "review" feels like the main reason why the reviewer hated the game is because she didn't like the protagonist as a person, for some reason.
Also, this is how their review starts:
"The over-the-top libertarian character takes you out with a rifle and shows you how to track a deer".
LOL.
Now that's a score I can agree with but I'm sure the score would be better if it wasnt that buggy
Great review Jones. Knew exactly what worked here and what didn't. You are truly in alignment with the genre. That's why I trust your 10.0s/Greats.
I have finished this game on every difficulty!!! I have never had any performance issues EVER!!! They have fixed all the bugs and add a Challenge Mode where you can earn patches that give you buffs that transfer to the game. This is the BEST video game I have ever
played.
Though it was weird throughout the game Deacon is Starkiller xD also, anybody remember the diplomat Phoebe dated on friends who didn't know English ("plate?")? That's Boozer 😅
So buy the game when they iron out the bugs and it is on sale...
There's a day one patch
@@MrSwitchblade327 Yeah true, maybe my comment is a bit unfair, I just want to experience the game at its full potential, day one patches rarely fix every annoying bug. Supporting a good single player game without microtransactions at release is always a good idea, so ignore the "buy it on sale" part XD
Same as always for AAA games.
MrSwitchblade327 day one patch didn’t fix anything don’t misinform people, there’s already reviewers who had the latest patch which was the retail patch didn’t fix the many bugs out.
@@Jason-ut3ou theres also another patch in the works for next week
Finally! A FUCKING DECENT REVIEW for this game. Unlike the"Review" from Gamespot or ign
Brandon Jones last of the "real" professional reviewers!
Easy-Allies you guys are the best reviewers in youtube. 100 times better than Ign or Gamespot. Do a series about rebooting ps2 classics.
Days Gone has everything I was expecting so far, I’m 8 hours in.
what do you think of it
Im definitely picking it up! There will be updates for bugs or glitches.
I love it how you actually show every little negative side about the game, not just talk about it, so I can see how bad it actually looks like in gameplay. I instantly became a patreon supporter to you, keep up these type of reviews and I will stay for a long time. Great job!
Definitely feel like I'll pick this up. Haven't played many zombie games since the fad blew up but this looks good enough to try
You should check out world war z and the left 4 dead games
Just found your review. I like your review style. Thank you so much for this, I am gonna pull the trigger for this game. Suits my playing style, single player and zombies. . . sold. Couple bugs makes the open world fun lol. Thank you!
Performance issues and glitches can be sorted out with patches. Design of some elements is something we have to live with. Really looking forward to play this myself. My copy should arrive tomorrow. Cant wait.
I agree :)
The only review I care about right here.
These guys and ACG are always the ones I'm looking out for.
ACG FTW
Best review I've seen. Despite some of the negative reviews, I'm still picking up my pre-order tonight. I honestly think with some patches it'll be an amazing game. I'm already stoked for the free DLC coming out later too.
3:03 - Canisters
The good news? Technical issues can be fixed.
William Friedrich: Exactly. All the negative points seem fixable via a few patches. Once again though, a game launching before being truly ready.
But will Sony Bend fix them?
Jonny Rogers pretty much already have. Patch 1.05 makes them almost on existent and 1.06 just came out today .
@@TheABElia Jones got the pre patch version (review copy). Recent patches really help with the bugs.
@@modeyv2 so, is it better now with the patches?

Fair score definitely this game don't deserve 3 and 5 for only the clicks
Maybe they really didn't like the game. I'm sure whenever those same publications give a game you like a super high score you don't question it.
@@Revealingstorm. All the games that I bought for me has super high score. When I finish it I review it for a solid 10, if the game is so memorable they get it.
Here we have a game that has a few glitches that already solve with latest 1.04 patch, and others site's give score 3 and other 8.5.
So yeah, Im glad that I have my own opinion that never fails me, and I never care about the reviews. They simply exploit the hype around the game and if they find a few problems they give those scores for clicks.
@@POATAPON3 well I mean that is there job to get people to watch the video. Plus you're making an assumption that it's for clicks. If you don't like it don't watch it. That's what I do for IGN reviews. They don't bother me anymore because I don't care what they score games.
From what I've heard the game has some really trashy moments and bugs.
It would be interesting to compare with State of Decay 2
"bloating, festering genre"
nice touch
Good review, you went into more detail than other reviews, the trip wire, bear trap, sending people to certain camps. No other review spoke about the intricate pieces of gameplay.
Whatever.Im Playing this..In the end it's still his opinion and reviewers play games a lot different than you or I..They play to critique...We play to enjoy...I'm on it
You sound like Jones just slammed the game. He didn't, he said he liked it a lot, but that it's held back by technical difficulties.
Honestly it's sitting at a score of 71 on metacritic, which was to be expected. But you guys need to understand, this was bend studios' first attempt at making an open world game and it was a damn good effort, give credit where credit's due.
dying light got a 74 and most people agree its one of the best zombie games
Jones, this review better encompasses How I feel about RDR2 and the kind of score it would have received from me. Not the same issues, but a similar variety of issues, as you have heard a million times plagued RDR2.
Setting that aside, seeing that "This is as bad as it gets" makes this a solid BUY for me. I will be picking it up tonight!
I Played for a few hours and I have to say that the Batman vision , mission objective markers and minimap indicators are ruining an otherwise great experience . I think I will wait until the summer for the Survival Mode to arrive so that I can play this game properly , I wish devs will add an option to remove mini map, focus vision , fast travel and mini map separately . Assassins Creed Odyssey did a great job allowing players to disable mission objective markers (Exploration vs guided mode).
Does this review include the day one patch ?
1.04 was 20gb and I have not seen a single issue after 5+ hours playing. Games amazing.
