    wouldn't both an isopod and a hagfish be stressed at the super low water pressure in a tank compared to the depths they normally live at? Not that something so simple as an isopod or hagfish really needs weak animal rights, I'm just curious if restocking is frequent/necessary.

    • @insectilluminatigetshrekt5574
      @insectilluminatigetshrekt5574 7 років тому +39

      Unlike most deep sea creatures, hagfish and giant isopods fare relatively well under normal atmospheric pressure.

      Isopods are among the hardiest invertebrates.

    • @acephantom903
      @acephantom903 5 років тому +8

      Remember these are found in the North Gulf of Mexico. That is relatively shallow compared to the normal depths you see deep sea isopods and hagfish. If you were to try to take an Atlantic or Pacific version, they probably would die. In this case they probably took trial and error to find specimens which could survive in a normal tank.

    • @suruxstrawde8322
      @suruxstrawde8322 5 років тому

      Interesting, so if you ever find one and don't know the species or origin the best thing to do for it is keep it in a salt water solution of appropriate ratio until identified.
      ..still need more research.

      Chino Najaki that’s the wrong creature. You’re thinking of is a giant centipede named the arthropleura which was about fifteen feet long. Sorry if you have insectophobia.

    • @reesaserik3759
      @reesaserik3759 4 роки тому

      Chino Najaki: Maybe you are thinking of the extinctTrilobite. That is what the Isopod makes me think of. To me the Trilobite (according to fossils found) kinda resemble the Isopod. It is believed the Trilobite had segmented shells or body, and that they too may have been able to curl into a ball.
