I’m so glad Martin Scorsese won Best Picture for this film. I didn’t get to see very many movies in those days cause I was in college, but I knew it was the best movie of the year the moment after it was over. It was that freaking good.
Matt Damon's character talking about getting out with his girlfriend was referencing the relationship not Frank. He's Irish and they stick it out in relationships no matter what.

i like Catch Me if You Can. not many like it but i do. but his best performance may be Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. he had to actually pretend he was a washed up actor, thats hard for him.
Probably you already knew but this movie was a remake of a Hong Kong movie called "internal Affairs" which came out in 2002. That one is also really good
the ending is so satisfying, also a really fun fact to this movie which i give martin scorcese props to is that the symbol X appears behind every character that dies, the most notable one is the one when queenan gets thrown down the building and you can see the x's on the windows while he's falling down, such a great movie.
Id have never thought id enjoy watching peoples reactions to some of my favorite movies as much as i enjoy watching the movies myself lol. I love these two lol. Shes a ball of hilarious sarcasm and my guy is funny as hell too
Departed is a well crafted remake (of Infernal Affairs), elevated by some great performances. It is also one of the best examples of dramatic irony (where the audience knows what the characters do not) that I have seen on film.
Hey, new to your channel (watched a bunch in the last week) but towards the end of the video you were asking if stuff like this really happens and in fact it does! An irish mobster named Whitey Bulger is largely the inspiration for Frank Costello in this film. Over the years numerous investigations should have put him away but they would always get stopped and no one knew why- the reason was because he was an FBI informant and he was more valuable on the streets than in custody, despite numerous people dying at his hands. I second an earlier comment by the way that wanted you to watch Gone Baby Gone and The Town. Two more great Boston movies.
The first time I saw this movie, one of my friends brought the DVD over to another friends house and his parents wanted to watch it too. They were devout Christians I've known my whole life. Most awkward few hours ever.
I dont know if you guys noticed or if anyone told you but before every character's death they are X's in the background to indicate that this person is about to die
Not my favorite Scorcese (that's still Goodfellas), but easily one of the best remakes ever made. Yet I do still prefer the HK original, Infernal Affairs. Leaner, more tense, but mostly a bit more ambiguous about good and evil. But don't get me wrong, The Departed is still an a great movie......it's just that Infernal Affairs is even better.
The Celtic punk you hear is, "Shipping Up to Boston," by the Drop Kick Murphy's. The Murphy's are from Boston. The earliest mob in the U.S.were the Masons. The second earliest mob was the Irish mob. This movie is based on a true story that wasn't finished. Based on the life and times of Boston mob boss, Whitey Bulger.
Scorcesse at his best. Check out Black Mass, a great gangster movie based on the true story of Whitey Bulger, who Frank Costello was based on. One of Johnny Depp's best performances.
What? You are totally right...continuity error? No...straight up hole..."Leonardo" was getting messages in the theater with no audio and as he was tailing him it blared out...right? If so...great catch.

If I had to choose DiCaprio's best performance ever, it would be his Calvin Candie's role in Django Unchained where he became the movie star with Christoph Waltz despite the fact he was the supporting actor.
39:00 it's Costigan's baby - unless she has some other undercover lovers we don't know about - Sullivan was impotent
Madolyn wanted to tell Bill she was pregnant and he may have been the father and all the things Costello's lawyer sent Bill was how Dignam knew. I believe.
Italian MOB were top of the food chain in every major city in North America, Boston (at least S.Boston) they could never seem to get straightened out. 🤪 Boston Strong! And I’m from Canada 🇨🇦👍
Incredible movie, what a cast. Dicaprio is great, this might be my second favorite of his, first being 'The Aviator'. 👍 Costigan's baby...the other had obvious 'performance' issues
I've got almost all his films. Love The Aviator. Also, Shutter Island.
They're collaborating on a new western. Looking forward to that.
i like Catch Me if You Can. not many like it but i do. but his best performance may be Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. he had to actually pretend he was a washed up actor, thats hard for him.
@@markmac2206 LOVE Catch Me If You Can
Only Martin Scorsese could get away with killing all these a/list actors in one movie.
The porno theater is probably my favorite scene Nichlson's 's humor is great.
Sullivan was impotent..... its not his baby.
it's pretty easy to figure it out when you KNOW you can trust a guy and he winds up dead in the same place as someone he should never be around.
By now Scorsese probably straight out owns 'Gimme Shelter'... n half of The Stones catalog.
Love Flogging Molly AND Dropkick Murphys.
God yes!
I always get those names mixed up when i talk about em.._
With a nod to Whitey Bulger and his crew with the FBI informant sub plot by the Irish mob boss.
Marty S movies are 3+ hrs of brilliance all the time everytime
This movie is actually a remake of Chinese film called Infernal Affairs
Nicholson is a legend❤
this was mind blowing in the cinema - pure silence after Leo got shot...
Great reaction guys, great movie watch it every couple years.
Johnny Depp unconvincingly played Whitey Bulger himself in Black Mass (2015).
Say what you will but haha I miss hearing that snap when a flip phone closes.
There are now smartphone models that fold close.
I never noticed that. Matt couldnt perform and then Leo performs. So is the kid matts or leos?
Oh, and Shutter Island!
"act accordingly" classic!
You should also react to other great Scorsese films like Taxi driver, Goodfellas, Casino and Raging bull
The first time I saw this movie, one of my friends brought the DVD over to another friends house and his parents wanted to watch it too. They were devout Christians I've known my whole life. Most awkward few hours ever.
Good times
I dont know if you guys noticed or if anyone told you but before every character's death they are X's in the background to indicate that this person is about to die
Not my favorite Scorcese (that's still Goodfellas), but easily one of the best remakes ever made. Yet I do still prefer the HK original, Infernal Affairs. Leaner, more tense, but mostly a bit more ambiguous about good and evil. But don't get me wrong, The Departed is still an a great movie......it's just that Infernal Affairs is even better.
This will forever be one of my favorite movies my mother put me on it 💯
Flogging Molly? Lol THAT was Drop Kick Murphys playing in the background
Based on the life and times of Boston mob boss, Whitey Bulger.
fantastic movie + reaction!
Personally, I think this is tied for best-Scorsese with 'Goodfellas' (1990), a must-watch!
There are so many incredible Scorsese movies. My favourite is The King Of Comedy.
Great reaction guys😁.
I'd love to see you reacting to Glengarry Glen Ross at some point, one of the best movies of the 1990's.
Awesome, I loved Mrs. Movies trying to stay ahead of this movie....😀!!!! Fucking great reaction... Thank you
O MY GOD your reaction on elevator scene is so good I mean you are really shock .you didn't see that coming
What a lot of people don't know is that this movie is actually a remake of a Chinese movie called Infernal Affairs.
Scorcesse at his best. Check out Black Mass, a great gangster movie based on the true story of Whitey Bulger, who Frank Costello was based on. One of Johnny Depp's best performances.
You make a great duo.
This movie is EPIC.
This is one of the best movies ever made
What? You are totally right...continuity error? No...straight up hole..."Leonardo" was getting messages in the theater with no audio and as he was tailing him it blared out...right?
If so...great catch.
You should follow this up with infernal affairs, the, korean I believe, movie this is based on.
Hong Kong , so it is Chinese. Not Korean.
Gotta watch "Gangs of New York" and "The Aviator".
Both Scorsese, both have DiCaprio
Don’t be a fiddlin Ben!
