Oh yeah, that 10 year old kid said a tiny picture of a barely naked, completely non-sexualized cartoon lady that he thought was SO funny that he had to RUN to show his mom TOTALLY thinks it was "disgusting" and "shouldn't have been allowed." Yeaaah, that TOTALLY isn't something his mother COACHED him to say and tell to the news media after the fact. Uh huh. Yeah, I totally believe that statement really came from Kennth's actual real feelings. Sure.
Wait till you see they changed a whole page of book 3. Carpet Flyers is now dragon riders. Oh and where's waldo in Hollywood Ali Barbara and 40 thieves is now a pirate cave page
Interesting! I don't think I saw those changes before. I did notice a few changes you mentioned earlier such as the lack of children in danger, but I couldn't decide if that change was made for censorship reasons or because it was the 30th anniversary just to spice things up. They did that by "expanding the page" on the first scene, so whether or not they made these changes for ethical reasons is up to debate, I think.
@okso... I guess they want to steer away from any reference to children being hurt, like the pulling of a girls hair from Department Store page check list. Wasn't funny then and not funny now. Also i think a lot of changes are about cultural inclusion and not making stereotype jokes, there are many characters who have Been changed to include other cultures. Oh and jokes about weight have been removed, see the train station scales bottom right of book as well as ski slopes guy who crashes into tree
The 30th anniversary revisions of wheres waldo also removed cigarette smoking. Also the museum page has lots of changes to the art pictures and several other cultural sensitive gags were removed (Egyptian "Mummy" for example. Oh and any boxcar tramps were removed, the stowaways on At Sea for example as well as the train riders on the roof of the train on Railway Station. Oh and any children endangerment so the balloon boy in the sky at the fairground and the children on the roof of the train in Railway station. I could go on, basically every page had some changes.
Part of the appeal was some of the edgy stuff, kinda like MAD magazine, so it's a shame they censored and changed it so much. Loses alot of the humor too.
Much ado about nothing. It always seemed to me that the Waldo books were based on a European sensibility, which is sometimes "scandalous" in the U.S., but really shouldn't be .
JUSTICE FOR BOOBIES
Justice for boobies!

That's just offensive.
Americans: obsessed with t*ts and offended by them at the same time.
No wonder my country had no Waldo in South East Asia.
I see...
