FUN FACT: Zach (The voice of charlie) actually talks like that. its his normal voice (same for pim, actually) and he says that he sounds like that because when he was young he had been in a terrible car accident, but also he said that wasnt true.

Zach is a top tier gaslighter, the real reason is a super deviated septum, he said he had the chance to get it fixed but his voice had grown on him and he didn't want to lose it's uniqueness.

With how big this show was, I'm surprised you haven't seen it before. I know you'll love it, it's absolutely wild lmao. But for as incredible and funny as the wild stuff is, the down to earth relatable moments are some of my favourite parts. The contrast between both of those is so good and makes both of them even funnier. Also fun fact, Pim shares a VA with Mammon from Helluva Boss

Fun fact the voice of Charlie and one of the creators of Smiling Friend (Zach Hadel/Psychic Pebbles) is a youtube/Newgrounds animator and a lot of the show's references are stuff he's joked about on Oneyplays, Sleepy Cabin or his animated shorts like the breast feeding thing is a reference to an art gallery promo he made

Desmond having a Smith & Wesson 500, an infamously impractical .50 revolver, is really funny. He could have picked any gun to do the job but he picked the most spectacularly over-the-top gun possible to make his head completely explode.

Fun fact about the end music; it's called BROWN SMILE and half of the melody was made by randomly placing notes in the program that was used but it somehow came out coherent and it stuck XD.

What's funny is that most of the main cast and side characters are from Oneyplays, because all of them go WAAAAY back to the creation of Newgrounds. Yeah. Smiling Friends was made by a friend group from Newgrounds. Ricepirate ( Mick ) even was included despite at the time having beef with the best friend of co-creator Zach Hadel. ( Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel both claim to be co-creators rather than " I created it and he helped. " ) - Michael also has appeared on Oneyplays once or twice. While he's a great animator and great writer, he's not always the best at going off the cuff, so he's not as fond of being given chances to improv like Zach who you can give a three word script to and he'll give you a 3 page bit about his character being " World's Strongest Gamer "
Genuinely one of the funniest and most talented groups of friends I've seen on the internet. Should hear Chris when he was doing- I think a fundraiser he was playing piano freestyle and making up silly songs on the spot. I think it's " Silly Songs with Jeff " ( One of the guys who helped Tom Fulp make Newgrounds. )
After Smiling Friends S1, a lot more people were suddenly interested in Zach and Michael's ICONIC voices. Lyle Rath from Pregame Discharge does a ton of voices on Smiling Friends too, as well as Joshua Tomar, a career voice actor that at one point was in the English dub of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
It's crazy how a friend group of self proclaimed " Autistic guys that like creating stupid stuff. " - can be so dang talented.
Someone on Twitter when talking about Xavier the renegade angel show said that his coworker showed him this show at his place and the guy was convinced he wanted to murder him because the show was so unsettling

There's a reason some of the show feels like a Meat Canyon animation. The creators of the show, Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel are old school internet animators that made a lot of similar stuff to Meat Canyon but predate him by well over a decade. Zach in particular is imo one of the funniest people on Earth. Zach Hadel is more commonly known by his UA-cam/Newgrounds name, Psychicpebbles. You can still find most of his old animations on UA-cam and Newgrounds too. He also is a regular guest on the UA-cam channel Oney Plays, a let's play channel hosted by his long-time friend and former Newgrounds/UA-cam animator Chris O'Neil AKA OneyNG. Pretty much everyone on Oney Play played a part in making this show, in fact, this entire show is basically just a giant collaboration between a ton of UA-cam and Newgrounds creators. Even the creator of Newgrounds, Tom Fulp voices several side characters, like Pim's sister's boyfriend in this episode.
Also, this show is packed with references to jokes in Oney Plays. People have put together a few compilations showing them all off and I highly recommend checking them out after you finish the show. The Boss breastfeeding "his baby" is a direct reference to Zach's animation "Gremblo Art Show" and it was the first clip I saw of the show. Since episode 1 dropped on April Fool's day with no announcement leading up to it, I had no idea he was even working on a show, but as soon as I saw that clip I knew it had to be him behind it. He also voices like half of the characters in the show including Charlie. If you hear a weird, decrepit sounding voice, It's probably Zach, his range is kinda crazy. Anyways, I'm super happy that you're checking this show out, and just in time for Season 2 dropping on the 12th of this month too!
I highly, _highly_ suggest checking out Hellbenders for some of the early collaborative animation between Oney and PsychicPebbles.
It is absolutely unhinged.

I'm loving how so many people are making reactions of Smiling Friends. This show definitely reminded me of Aqua Teen Hunger Force but this humor is up my alley.

When I go in vacation up to Minnesota (700+ miles away) we sometimes pass through grantsburg wi, and the Burnett Dairy Co-Op and I’ll spend almost a hundred dollars to stock up on great cheese with the rest of my family. Northwoods cheddar, and 2, 3, or 5 year aged cheddar, sometimes the 10 year aged caveman white cheddar, smoked string cheese, and anything else that catches my eye. Luckily my family are all good at not eating eachother’s nice cheese.

Btw it is now thought that rats weren't the cause of the black plague, but probably humans themselves. Also, medieval life expectancies were shorter than now, but not by as much as we usually think. The average age of death mathematically is around 30, but it's being offset by the high infant mortality rate, which is sad.
