  • Jerry Moffatt is a legend of our sport. He was playing a leading role in the development of sport climbing and bouldering in the 80's and 90's. Being a superb competition climber as well, Jerry is widely regarded as the best overall climber in the world of the 80's.
While he lived in Germany together with Wolfgang Güllich and Kurt Albert he got involved in the development of the campusboard. A training device which soon became absolutely essential for hardcore climbing training. Jerry gives us deep insights into the history and about his training philosophy. A must see!

I admire Jerry Moffatt for his skills, for his routs and all he has done for our sport. However, to talk like he is the creater of the campus board is just shabby. In my personal opinion he doesn't do justice to Wolfgang Güllich. I'm really upset how he talks about another climbing legends. What a shame!

Jerry is joking about the campus board, he is making fun of himself by being over arrogant 'before me, people struggled to do a single pullup' - I think the humour is lost in translation.
I recommend you read Jerry's book 'Revelations', he has nothing but love and respect for Wolfgang and Kurt, it's quite emotional.

I agree with Blake, you have misunderstood his comments which is easy with English dry humour.
He really does love climbing and all that goes with it, full stop

He is clearly joking at the beginning, "without me there was no climbing...people could barely do a pull up..." If they cut before the laughter, you could still know it was a joke.

I have heard Jerry praise Wofgang Gullich many times. The internet video is only a snapshot of a very short time slot.
