I've come across black bears twice and I wasn't a bit nervous and those bears knew that they didn't smell fear and they left. If I didn't have it I'd a shit myself. I was just out walking the trail and each time they came out of nowhere and I had a cougar come behind me once on the trail. When you take out that Canon and you tell the bear to leave or he's gona be your new rug they know and the walk away. I had to fire a warning shot on the cougar she just kept coming closer and closer kicking up dirt with her front paws. First time watching your videos. I watched the whole thing. I did enjoy it. Calming and peaceful. I respect the fact there's no cussing. I'm a Cristian and I believe you are too. I'd love to camp. I'm 69 and use a walker because of my bad knees. My husband is 74. We just set everyday and do what's necessary in a day. Very boring life but I dream of camping and fishing. I'd also cook on a campfire the old fashion way the way I use to. I've cooked on an open flame and made full meals lol. But now I just dream of doing it. So, I camped with you. Keep making your videos and also why don't you bring your wife sometimes??
Get yourself a screened tent that you can flush right up against your van so when you walk out the side door, you'll be entering right into the tent where you can cook, sit and eat outside without being surprised by any animal walking right up on you...or a person. Leave no gaps in between the van and the tent. When you're out in the open like that, anything can walk up on you from either side of the van. A screened tent will give you enough time to get back into the van quickly and safely. Some have 2 openings.

It was an interesting trip. It was nice to see you enjoy the outdoors, the animals and some tasty dinners, that is solid simple comfort right there. With technology we can forget about real life and at times get immersed in it. A good book will always do too. You kept setup simple yet adequate that is how it should be 5 to 10 minute takedown. Was good to see you brought protection along as much as we want to see the best in everyone we have to be smart and prepared for anything. I have seen female campers alone sometimes being approached and I feel fearful for them. Nothing wrong with being ready
Thanks and yeah regardless if people want to accept the truth or not, females definitely need to be more prepared when out solo. I have seen a few where I was very nervous for them also. All it takes is one crazy person
@@TolbersCamping Excalty, looking for the good in people is not ways a great attitude to have on solo journeys for anyone... I have seen some very strange encounters for some solo campers, my fear level was on alert for them. I am adventurous but being cautious is not paranoia just good sense, as well as being prepared for anything that comes your way. I spent almost two full months in the woods on 125+ acres this summer in an RV area...as summer wanned so did the folks on site sometimes I could look both ways where I was parked and see no cars, I still enjoyed the countryside but with a bit more caution when it thinned out
Great video as always! We just came back from camping/hiking in the Smokies. Carried two cans of bear spray and air horns in case of bear encounter. Glad you didn’t have to fight mosquitoes too much. I got one single bite which isn’t bad. Also used the thermacell. It works!
When I went to Costa Rica the guides told me to take B1 or a B complex pill. Mosquitoes don't like it. We used Deet spray as well & I never got bitten & we were in the rain forest!
Love the simple awning you have there. Thank you for sharing your content. I'm following because there is something about your channel that is interesting.
Hey dude, nice video, the loud splash was probably a sasquatch, and the ding sound you heard could have been a mini big foot,. They hide under cars , you should hang over the side before you put foot to the ground and look under the car first, the little ones grab you're leg and hold you for the big uns. Thanks for mentioning Steve, great dude, ya wanna have fun stalk him when he's camping and make a video. If you're ever down south let us know so's we don't waste ammo. Thanks again and we subd ya , make more
I agree, most likely Sasquatch is watching you. Whatever you do don’t point your gun at one, makes things worse, they will leave you alone if you walk away. Yes we have them here, like it or not
Old movies, to film rain, it had to rain about twice as much as a real storm to see it. I heard once that filming milk gave a better image, could be a dream memory though. Nice tarp.
I live in Minnesota. The most dangerous big animal that you will probably encounter in your life in Northern Minnesota is the moose. Damn, those things are cantankerous! Once they start an attack, they don't back off... and they will often PICK a fight with you. Black bears usually run away but be careful that you don't get between a mamma and her cubs. You're pretty much done for once you do that. There are other dangerous animals as well, but for the most part, if you have bear spray and you are armed, you can survive. BTW, mosquitoes are a big animal in Minnesota... they are known as the State bird. LOL!! I love the North Woods of Minnesota. Peaceful and beautiful.
I can’t wait to see a moose in the wild. Plan to head up that way fairly soon. I know they can be very dangerous and want to stay a safe distance away but will be prepared.
Just found your channel- new subscriber. Loved your night out in northern MN. Hearing the rain storms are the best. I’m looking forward to bingeing some of your other content. Blessings to you and yours - stay safe out there.
Love your content thank you for sharing your journey hello from Texas be safe and be good I enjoy your video take care wishing you and family happiness and good health
Love your camping videos Man but I can say with all honesty as well as two experiences growing up with my parents. While camping it's probably a good thing that you have the bear spray and a pistol and a minivan to separate you from them. Because if you're actually that worried about bears you should probably know that bears have a sense of smell 2100 times that of a human. So even though you disposed of the burger remains in that Campground trash bears are highly attracted to sweet and sugary things such as pastries and cookies like you had in your minivan. Having a close-up encounter with a overly eager black bear trying to pack on as many calories as it can before it's hibernation cycle begins. Is a once in a lifetime experience you really don't want. Lol 😳
I'm about to watch this video right now. But when I tell you I read your comment and when I tell you you scared the bullshit out of me. When you put it in perspective like that it's pretty damn deep what you said. Just saying
@@danbailey96 so you think only brave people should camp? Give him some grace to learn a new life experience.not everyone is privileged to grow up camping with someone of wisdom to share the experience . Someday he will feel comfortable enough to share these experiences with his boys. You have to learn somewhere.
Also you may want to get one of those small coolers that you plug into a car plug you dont need ice and they work well if you get one about the size of your cooler the price isnt to bad its definitely work having. Walmart sells the small ones at a responsible price they use very little battery power can be run on solar too and its can run small battery supply so you have different options to use but easiest is just plug into a car plug if you worry about your car battery just crank the van up for a few minutes before bedtime to get a good charge. They are made to use in the car so it doesnt pull much power at all....
The game camera is a very very smart idea, if you don't want to be bothered by certain things in the woods. They see the light from the IR emitter and will not approach. And you most definetly don't want these things to approach. You wouldn't ever camp alone after that, I guarantee it.

A tip for your cooler, instead of loose ice, a small jug of solid ice will last for days and won't get your supplies wet. 👍😊
Thanks!! 😃 😊
I freeze 2L pop bottles..ice and eventually water!
I’m new to the channel so I’m not sure if you’re talked about this, 12 volt fridge/ freezers are great. No more ice or soggy food.
Great idea, thankfully I have a small portable fridge now so no more melted ice 😀
Yea my gma used to do it for fishing, we would freeze a few 2 liters full of water, had a drink as it melted and kept the fish good.

I spent almost two full months in the woods on 125+ acres this summer in an RV area...as summer wanned so did the folks on site sometimes I could look both ways where I was parked and see no cars, I still enjoyed the countryside but with a bit more caution when it thinned out
The animal you were wondering about
Is called a fisher cat. We have them in Michigan also. Vey cool animals.
Great video as always! We just came back from camping/hiking in the Smokies. Carried two cans of bear spray and air horns in case of bear encounter. Glad you didn’t have to fight mosquitoes too much. I got one single bite which isn’t bad. Also used the thermacell. It works!
I’ve never had much luck with those candles, but the thermacell works great
Skin so soft oil/lotion by Avon for is a great bug repellent for the skin. Citronella candles work for me also.
When I went to Costa Rica the guides told me to take B1 or a B complex pill. Mosquitoes don't like it. We used Deet spray as well & I never got bitten & we were in the rain forest!
You are pure fun. So realistic. I just had to sub with all notifi on. Thanks for just being truthful, honest, yourself.
Pretty awesome I always wanted to camp out in the middle of nowhere just exactly how u did it in the video, perfectly
And always bring protection, there could possibly be crazies in the middle of nowhere messing around campsites
1st time watcher . Definitely subscribing love this video. Beautiful scenery
be safe out there ☺ 🌧
Looked like a river otter. That makes sense, too since you heard an animal dive into the water.
What jumped in the water was much bigger than that lol
Love the simple awning you have there. Thank you for sharing your content. I'm following because there is something about your channel that is interesting.
Thanks!
I follow Steve’s channel. Bless him and his family, so sorry to hear this,I too lost my husband to cancer last year.
Nice tarp.
Re: film. In old movies snow flakes were soap flakes.
Loving the background 🎵!
Opening and closing for in auto mode drains battery if doing for couples days. Have jump start kit ready
For sure
May God bless Steve, so sad to here about his wife. GOD BLESS YOU. NICE SHARE

Thanks Ann!
Prayers to Steve
Lol 😳
As scared as he is he probably shouldn't be out camping I'm thinking a motel 6 would be more suitable to his character.
I'm about to watch this video right now. But when I tell you I read your comment and when I tell you you scared the bullshit out of me. When you put it in perspective like that it's pretty damn deep what you said. Just saying
And as we know one must also watch out for the 2 legged predators blessings
@@fosterkennel649 They're the ones I worry about too👍
@@danbailey96 so you think only brave people should camp? Give him some grace to learn a new life experience.not everyone is privileged to grow up camping with someone of wisdom to share the experience . Someday he will feel comfortable enough to share these experiences with his boys. You have to learn somewhere.
Thanks for telling us about Steve's wive passing away.
Beautiful 😍❤️ place, I love 💕 the woods 👍👍
Also you may want to get one of those small coolers that you plug into a car plug you dont need ice and they work well if you get one about the size of your cooler the price isnt to bad its definitely work having. Walmart sells the small ones at a responsible price they use very little battery power can be run on solar too and its can run small battery supply so you have different options to use but easiest is just plug into a car plug if you worry about your car battery just crank the van up for a few minutes before bedtime to get a good charge. They are made to use in the car so it doesnt pull much power at all....
It is morning here its 7:51 am and it's been snowing love the snow 😁
The game camera is a very very smart idea, if you don't want to be bothered by certain things in the woods. They see the light from the IR emitter and will not approach. And you most definetly don't want these things to approach. You wouldn't ever camp alone after that, I guarantee it.
I haven’t been on in a while I’m glad to be back and catch up on any videos I’ve missed. By the way, awesome video with so much wild life love it keep those videos coming. As always stay safe stay bless 🙏🏼❤️
