I'm so happy that I came across yalls video & watched it !!! Awesome video. I'm from the USA & I have never seen anything like that little coffin in my life. Now the codd bottle marbles I absolutely love & I happen to have a whole codd bottle with its marble still inside & I absolutely love it !!! I bought it in a antique store in a town I used to live in in Black Mountain, NC. I was shocked to find one in my country cause I learned from the beautiful Nicola White mudlarker in London, England that they come from England !!! I want to find more. I love Nicola's videos & I know that I am going to love yours & mum's videos !!! I also would love to find some of those glass bottle stoppers, they are beautiful. Till next time, can't wait to see more !!! 🙂💕
I missed you, glad to see you mudlarking again. I'm a sheller, I live in Hawaii. I applaud any one who recycles and upcycles, and I definitely applaud you. I enjoy your channel so much and I think I've watched them all. I especially enjoy all the research you share with us. Keep up the good work. Aloha❤
Barbara, you should watch SiFinds. He is a mudlarkers from London and makes wonderful things out of what he finds along the Thames River! You may enjoy watching him!
Huuuuuui! Hey I’m also from Hawaii. (Maui) 😂 I think we’re attracted to mudlarkers because we can’t get access to historic little treasures like that and so easily. They sit, waiting to be found. Where I’m at the soil is just too acidic. Complete opposite to the Thames. That clay mud is practically preserving a variety of materials including leather, for centuries. I can’t lie. I get a little jealous.

Welcome back, Gail and Alex. I've been wondering if y'all are okay. I'm so glad you're back out and about on your mudlarking adventures. Cracking finds today. Much love from North Carolina! ❤️ 💙 That sherd with Donald on it might've once had the last name MacDonald instead... I saw the remnants of the c in your closeup. Thank you for braving the bitter cold and for letting us all tag along with you. 😊
Happy new year! When I worked in an art studio in 1990s I'd get bored of making wildlife sculptures and create my own freaky figures, wizards, skulls etc. and give to friends..and I made a wee coffin.. with a brass cross on the lid and wee brass handles ..kinda like yours, about same size, but without the stabby pin thing, (if I knew i'd have added it) friend still has it in a display cabinet
@10.20 them hands reminded me of the pierrot clowns back in the 1980s or so they became popular again. Anyone else think that too?? Welcome back ladies and A Happy New Year one and all 😊😊😊
There was so many different poses, I remember a friend who had her bedroom all fitted out with them, wallpaper, bedding, figures, lampshades the list was endless but the pottery found reminded me of them. 😊😊
Regarding the stabby coffin- it really reminds me of a book I ran across once that was a reproduction of an early 20th century catalog of prank devices that were used in initiations for fraternities and lodge-type clubs. Some of them were pretty dark and morbid, and I wouldn't be shocked if this was somehow related to the coffin? Of course I can't remember the name of the book, but I believe it was the book The Extraordinary Catalog of Peculiar Instruments about the DeMoulin Brothers Company. Looks like there are copies on amazon!
So happy they are BACK! since I've caught up with all the northern mud lark videos, there has been a hole in my heart that only Gail and Alex can fill!! 😂
Being the proud new owner of a piece of Alex's mudlarking inspired jewelry, I have a whole new appreciation for her finds 🩷 and I'm VERY excited for next week's reveal 😃
Thank goodness you’re back, it’s slim pickings for decent mudlarking videos atm! Very much enjoyed your trip to the foreshore guys - thank you and happy new year 🥳

Yay!! Now we can start the new year properly with Gail and Alex!! I hope you a wonderful Christmas! You’ve been missed! That coffin is so mysterious!! Very interesting! Love the sherds word! Gave me laugh!! Happy new year! Look forward to next weeks video and to 2025! ❤
Wow, I can’t even imagine ever having frozen ground where we live. But, then again, summer temperatures last so much longer over here, with temps over 100F for several weeks at a time. Greetings from East Texas (near Houston)!!!
I often see bits of things with letters that, if they were my initials, I would purchase after you make them into charms or other decorative items! I like to use letters/initials as decoration in my home. Hello to all from California!
Great to see y’all out and about! But brrr I am not sure how much I could stand of digging in the cold frosty ground. Y’all have more grit than me! 😂 Great finds. The coffin is a very bizarre thing! 😮
I had to giggle when you said don't forget to watch next weeks video. Most of us are waiting , sometimes not so patiently waiting, for your video so it is rare that we would miss it!!! Ha! I'm glad you are back because I've been not so patient 😂
Omg Alex you’re so funny about the things you like! It’s so great! You’ve got to figure out how to share what u make out of that funny porcelain bit please! ❤
Hello Gail and Alex! Great to see y'all back and starting off 2025 in spectacular mudlarking fashion!! What a curious piece that little coffin was...so cool! Looking forward to this years adventures...Big hugs from Texas!!😍🤩
I am dying!! The three words and your face expressions. I can’t stop laughing. I live in the USA and I can completely agree that it is a message. LOL and then you find the little coffin.
You too are something else we can both talk in harmony your words just blame together. It’s been really cold here in United States in Virginia. God bless you stay warm.❤
Despite the frozen ground along your foreshore there, it turned out to be a wonderfully exciting mudlark. That coffin is a super intriguing little curiosity. I love it. With your creative imagination, I bet you could easily fashion a similar little coffin pendant you could produce for jewelry; perhaps a modern spin on a memento mori with a gizmo button to reveal a little sterling skull inside the coffin. I’m so happy you’ve enjoyed some time off during the holiday, but I do look so forward to coming along on new and fun adventures in 2025. I’ve been wondering how the new renovations to your new door have weathered and endured the cold. I look forward to watching some new videos on your other channel, also! Happy hunting in the new year!
It has been the longest 2 weeks without you 2! Welcome back!! 😊....nice finds for the new year 🎉🎉. Alex, I absolutely died laughing when you found that peice of pottery with the "cock p-p" on it 😂😂😂, unusual find indeed 😂, the brass knob was the finishing touch ☠️😵☺️...great finds Ladies!! ❤❤❤
41:04 alien^^ All the best wishes for the new year and the next hundred years. All the best, health and well-being and super interesting finds from the past. The hands remind me of a figure of a French clown. I was about 4 years old and this aunt had such a figure in the display case, so around 1969/70.in saxony. That was just a flash of thought when I saw those hands.
You found a lot of interesting bits, despite the cold! The hands are interesting...maybe some kind of secret sign? And the coffin...what an annoying joke to do o someone. I hope they cleaned it off after use before springing on the next person! Of course, Donald must be DJT! Praying for his safety; only a few more days until sworn in! Thanks for the video! Happy new year! Cheers!
A mudlarker in America takes antique bottles that the top Is broke off, and cut it off and make glasses out of them. They only do the ones that have writing on them. They sell them on Etsy I believe.
The shard is too funny it also looks like a gorilla making a fist in the background. It's really funny and will make a great pendant. Thanks for taking us along 👍 😂.
Happy 2025 ! Great start .. so funny Alex with all the innuendos 😂 I wonder if the hands are the other way round like crossed over the chest, tricky one .. but what are the chances of most of the fingers still being attached. Love the little dog face so cute. The coffin, how bizarre, the victorians must have had a weird sense of humour... 😊
Awesome video! Gonna show my daughter, she and I are going to start mudlarking this spring. We don't have the fortitude to brave the cold, like y'all. Lol! I'd say the message from the pottery shards is that Donald wound up in the infirmary because of his indiscriminate use of his..... 😂😂😂😂
Happy New Year Gail & Alex 🎉 Alex's word pottery find was funny, I like silly humour like that 😂 For a hand warmer, if you get a empty can of pop, put a cut along the base with a cut upwards on both sides of the cut and push the flap in, so it's big enough for a tea tree candle, the whole can heats up to warm your hands and it's small enough to carry with you, don't forget something to light the candle
Oh, I can’t believe you put that piece of glass down-the one with the scallop shells around the edge. You could have made a really awesome fan shaped pendant with it by wrapping a piece of decorative metal over the top, and using that metal to attach a bail. If you see it again, I’d be happy to sketch something that you can do with basic tools-if you can use a jewelry saw and drill, you can do something really nice with it.
I saw Gail pick it up and set it down so fast I had to wonder if she had some kind of negative connection to an item that looked like it? Anyway I was shocked that she didn't pick it up to add to her collection? FYI, this piece of blown glass was a beautiful paperweight at one point. Much too big for a necklace! 😄 So maybe that's why she put it back because they are avoid pieces that are just too big to work with? Anyway, unfortunately we will never know unless she sees our comments and decided to clear things up for us. One can only hope!
What an odd find that tiny coffin was. People going round pricking other people with sharp joke items. Oh how i bet they laughed. 🤦🏼😬 Anyhoo, a rare and strange find none the less.
