    Over 20 years ago I sat at a dinner table with a group of people and told them that no matter what weapons the Americans throw at the Taliban or how much devastation they think they're causing, the Taliban will eventually win the war. Whether it takes 1 year, 2 years, 10 years, 20 or longer than 30 - eventually the Taliban will win. The group around the table laughed at me.

They snuck in twisted diplomacy to get HK in order but its clear Taiwan, India and all its other neighbours can't have such a thing happen. The most they do is probe for intelligence on other nations and pointless shows of power with boats and planes. They can't win the border scuffles with India and won't escalate it either. What have they done though? Built more nukes. Its a scare game these days and anyone can play it if they have the ability to produce nuclear weapons.

      the Afghan army are corrupt, incompetent and cowards, they are very well know for deserting battles and accepting money from the Taliban to surrender. Also in Afghanistan there no "sense-of-a-nation" or anything to unify the country, people there are only really concerned with their immediate surroundings/towns and villages and their family, which ends up meaning they've got a military full of people who don't really care about their countrymen. With no real pushback the Taliban have been able to walk into Kabul and all the other cities over the last month pretty much without opposition

    • @Hiddenronin
      @Hiddenronin 3 роки тому +15

      Having spoken to a few squaddies who spent time there, they described the Afghans as being totally unmotivated and incapable of soldiering in any disciplined fashion.
      Most of them didn't see Afghanistan as a nation-state to defend and were more concerned with their own tribe / extended family group. Malingering, skiving, and cowardice were rife.
      Much life ISIL, the Taliban could be rolled up and destroyed militarily quite easily by any modern military, but unless the Afghans themselves want to protect their nation this is what will happen once the professional soldiers leave.

      @Peter Lowton Strict, Islamic law. Strict Islamic states around the world are not a bastian for peace and fair treatment, they still have beheadings in even the most civilized ones. The war ending there is probably for the best, it wasn't achieving anything and someone had to end it. Let's not pretend the Taliban are saints though, they never were and they are infinitely more militant now. Anything Western will be destroyed, anyone with Western habbits will be killed. Thousands are fleeing the cities already, the airport is packed with refugees stuck with flights cancelled. A lot of people will die at their hands.
