- It's time for another clip from the very special project my father and I have been working on. This time we're going to turn Reed loose on two tunes, Old Molly Hare & Mississippi Sawyer. We hope you enjoy this look at a true master and an American treasure in action.
All the best and keep rollin,
RC

Scruggs style is cool and all, but I love clawhammer so much!
I don't know what the project is, but I sure would like to see it. Great interview and performance.
Man ,this guys playing is so wonderful.
It just doesn't get any better than this!!
Reed is one of the finest clawhammer players ever.
Are there any tabs or lessons for that rendition of Old Molly Hare?
Love the tone you made. Sounds great !
Soooo cool! Thanks Glenn and Russ for posting these wonderful videos of Reed!!
Man, thanks so much for sharing this. Such a joy and an inspiration to behold!
Awesome player, and teacher! Thank you for posting!
Post More please!!!
Also a great human
Monster! Ridiculously good, just love it!
Anyone know what brand/make of banjo Reed is playing here? He gets such a bright beautiful tone out of it
Vega Tubaphone
His right hand is mesmerizing. So steady. Like a clock.
RGTD ,Rock steady.
I play the clawhammer style. I love myself bluegrass banjo but I never liked that the rolls could get repetitive, and it seemed so strange trying to play those old fiddle tunes.
I LOVE THIS! Thank you
👏👏
Excellent! I am excited to hear more about this project. More Reed videos, I hope.
How do I find/contact Reed Martin??
You can always hear him thinking aloud about the tune in his hand . Brilliant head to hand like no other ..
What a treat and treasure! Thank you for posting these. Just got into clawhammer, and all I hear is how that index finger or middle finger "needs a nail" to strike the string. Doesn't seem like Mr. Martin here has any long nails, but by God listen to that strong, thumping tone!
Niiiiiiiiice! Carson, Huber, Reed... Even though they all make the banjo look like a child's toy their happiness in playing is contagious! Thanks Russ!
Roll or Hammer... nothing as perfect as a 5-string.
That's so smooth, ... Great playing!
Genius
More!
