  • Following a brief history and Kit review, the whole painting and weathering of a Bare - metal finish is shown, much of it in time-lape. It is fully narrated with explanations throughout.

Nice job! For those in australia this exact plane is in the aircraft museum at Parafeild airport, Adelaide, entry is $12 and it's an open cockpit museum with planes you can sit in.

Still one of the best looking jets ever IMO, especially in the natural metal finish. Losing 40+ aircraft of 116 is crazy!

Alclad gloss black is notorious for long drying time. I recommend using Mr. Color GX2 Ueno Black. Fast drying, self leveling, perfect surface for metallics.

the notch in the L/E creates laminar flow across the chord reducing the buffering mentioned in this video - cheers Pete mirage maniac and senior aircraft engineer Qantas

I've been modeling for over 47 years and the natural metal finish is indeed frustrating. I've tried everything including a large investment in alclad ii paints. The tamiya washes will strip the the paint and then you will have to redo your model. Ugh. Also the aircraft at work used to be a natural metal finish and they become oxidized after a few hours of flight, with a dusty dull kind of aluminum look to them . So often times models look better than the real thing! But, what works for me is tamiya bare metal silver spray and silver leaf spray. These colors look the closest to the real thing. Anyway thanks for the build and the info. This is a very beautiful model .

Why where there generic roundels on the wings instead of the roundel with the kangaroo?

Based on superior German technology. Not really.

Actually based on some shared British technology, we could have had something like this if we hadn't been bloody stupid.
