It's great to see Cracked expanding their roster, showing that they're not just reliant on the charisma of four people. After all, humans are fleeting and fallible.
Both guys knew what they were talking about, respectful to the source material, if you'd call it that. As a fan of a fake sport that is often misrepresented, I appreciate this fresh perspective. Great video.
I'm not complaining, and I appreciate your explanation. You're right, sports entertainment is a concept of its own. I was confused because the fact that Tariq called it sports entertainment rather than just sports flew over my head.
VMM made me a happy and loving fool my entire childhood. I am ever grateful to him for providing such colour to my world and imagination. Same praise goes to The Under Taker, Shawn Michael, The Heart brothers and countless WWF legends.
He did a few other sketches... like the one where the Cracked team trolls Shakespeare's plays.... There's also this other guy in Cracked series Rom.com (Season 2) .... Just sayin...
So Crack, what makes you think this hasn't been going on all along with professional sports all along? The stuff the movie "Eight Men Out" talks about and all that.
The definition of an athlete is someone who engages in sports, and sport means competitive physical activity. If they're just following a script, then there's no competition. Their acting has merit on its own, sure, but none as a sport. In fact, most of the excitement that comes out of theatrical wrestling is that it mimics an actual competition(and advertises itself as one). Even if there's a general tacit understanding that it's fake, you can't blame people for being disappointed in it.
Hey, you guys remember when Arnold predicted that the future would be dominated by the XFL? Also, human cloning and helicopters that become rocket-airplane things.
I think you're missing the point: McMahon redefined pro wrestling as sports _entertainment_. In essence, it's like a sports film: it's portraying sports-like activity, but in the end, it's just entertainment. You don't complain when you watch Field of Dreams and the outcome's the same every time. That's what McMahon is selling: the drama of sports and competitiveness, but with a pre-determined narrative. Sports ENTERTAINMENT.
Matthew Aubry actually the greeks were a group of small militant city states with one democratic city that killed its greatest thinkers. they were definitely not more learned not even a little. i forgot to mention that the greeks didn't even have sewers
To be fair, the greeks didn't kill Socrates, they forced him to kill himself by drinking a horrific, painful poison. Oh, wait, that's worse, isn't it? And not forgetting of course that the 'democratic' Athens became a city-state with an empire willing to invade other states, execute all the men and enslave all the women and children, like they did to Melos. And they eventually lost to Sparta, so democracy = e
Greco Roman wrestling is an olympic sport... with that said it is one of the FINEST grappling arts out there. Only grappling martial art more complete is a tie between Gracie Jiu Jitsu and Sambo... Save olympic wrestling!
The XFL wasnt a complete failure. One aspect was added to the NFL. You know that overhead camera thats basically on a zipline seen in the NFL....XFL invented Right now wwe has the network where you can watch classic archival footage...I wont be surprise if MLB, NFL, NBA or NHL will do the same thing
Being a pro stunt man hurts too and people get injured, but that doesn't make it a sport or change the fact that what they are emulating isn't the real thing. If the outcome is decided beforehand, then it's not a sport, nor is it real. Martial arts and professional wrestling are "real" in the sense that it's a competition that involves one man besting another. Pro wrestling is not because it is scripted. I also wasn't taking one side, but merely saying comparing the two is like apple and orange.
Ever since 2006, watching the NBA feels less and less like an mindless and exhilarating, yet relaxing exercise in tribal traditionalist cheering and more like a kick to the nuts that makes me yell "BULLSHIT". Some people actually cared about the game's game aspect and I was one of them. I just don't give a fuck anymore.
Rebecca Delongpre? I spent three sad, lonely minutes racking my brain about why that last name sounded so familiar. Did you pull that out of your butts or did you subtly shout out a dead character from Veronica Mars?
The quick zooms-in and zooms-out are quite distracting. I might not have noticed them so much had they been used sparingly but they were used after every cut, like they were just cut-and-pasted on every clip. It was almost unwatchable.
I know you weren't criticizing it for being fake; I'm also not defending it. I was only noting that it shouldn't be compared to sports, especially MMA, because it is an act and is more along the lines of a soap opera. An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others. Theatrical wrestling does not have actual competition, which is the linchpin as to whether or not it's a sport. It's more along the lines of exhibition.
Nope...The WW(W)F used to be part of the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance), which was a board which allowed wrestling companies to share talents, while all of them fought for one world title. So naturally, when his father gave control of the company to him, Vince Jr spat on his fathers promises and bought out the best the NWA had. WCW and ECW were also in the NWA, but when they split, they managed to remain notable until the 21st century, which the NWA had failed to do.
I love how people go out of their way to state that Pro-Wrestling / Sports Entertainment is "fake". Thanks Captain Obvious, however; it's not a secret that the product is scripted and the outcomes are all predetermined, but to call it "Fake" and act like Pro-Wrestlers are not athletes is obscured. If you feel that way, jump in the ring and take a few bumps then report back to us how "fake" it is.
Welp, I'll say it first. Vince didn't start the 'larger than life' personalities. I'd say Ali beat him to it, but even Ali was influenced by the granddaddy of them all, Gorgeous George (The first man to sell out MSG). Still, Vince did make it profitable...By screwing over the rest of the NWA, and stealing their talents so only WCW remained behind...And the countless Indie NWA's now, which all constantly fuck themselves over...
They don't say it's a sport. They say it's sports entertainment. Just because the moves are choreographed doesn't mean the pain isn't real. All the well known wrestlers are on pain pills constantly.
You do know that the stuff they do still hurts right? Yes they pull punches most of the time (in order not to break a guys jaw or something), when they take a bump, especially on to hard surfaces it still hurts (how could it not?), people still get seriously injured all the time doing this "fake" stuff. Yes there are storylines, it's still entertainment at the end of the day. Yet if anyone who isn't a fan, go to a school...a different light would be definitely seen.
Sheer hilarity. I was following the wrestling, kinda boggling at the names in sports, but I have seen the links for ages. Look at Jordan and Hogan. Is the Heat not NWO?
Macho Man going, "I got a blender, yeah!"...
I've seen it all now.
Funniest comment I've read all year lol. :)
1:24 if you wanted to see that again
It's great to see Cracked expanding their roster, showing that they're not just reliant on the charisma of four people. After all, humans are fleeting and fallible.
Nah og are better
@@Carloszavalalol Well now they're all gone.
"I got a blender, yeaaaaahhhh."
My life is complete.
Watched the movie "Hooking Up" tonight and thought... "Why do I feel like this guy knows a ton about professional wrestling?"
And he was never heard from ever again.
Both guys knew what they were talking about, respectful to the source material, if you'd call it that. As a fan of a fake sport that is often misrepresented, I appreciate this fresh perspective. Great video.
These guys work great together. MOAR
Who is this guy I've never seen before. I like him.
Swaim just materialized his inner self - a cool black guy
I'm not complaining, and I appreciate your explanation.
You're right, sports entertainment is a concept of its own. I was confused because the fact that Tariq called it sports entertainment rather than just sports flew over my head.
VMM made me a happy and loving fool my entire childhood. I am ever grateful to him for providing such colour to my world and imagination. Same praise goes to The Under Taker, Shawn Michael, The Heart brothers and countless WWF legends.
First person of color, I have ever seen in a Cracked video
He's black.
He did a few other sketches... like the one where the Cracked team trolls Shakespeare's plays.... There's also this other guy in Cracked series Rom.com (Season 2) .... Just sayin...
F Clarke white people who say "person of color" are who black people make fun of
Im black...
good one lol
Agreeing with Nick, these guys work GREAT together. Great actors, both of them. But, oh, I miss CrackedTV....
I like these ones where you hide the camera in the office and catch Cracked employees speaking unscripted. Everyone has a good laugh about it later.
When I first watched this, I didn't know who Sam Richardson was, but now revisiting this almost a decade later I said "he's, that's Dunston!"
IT WAS ME AUSTIN!
Funny and interesting.
More importantly, loved the new guy. Has he been in anything else?
Dammit. I just lost 10 grand betting against John Cena last night.
Bring the Attitude Era back vince! And wrestling will be back to the good old days and much more popular...
The new guy is awesome working with Swaim. Put him in more skits please.
Next After Hours should be in a soul food restaurant discussing Steel vs Meteor Man
XFL went belly up twice. 😂
So Crack, what makes you think this hasn't been going on all along with professional sports all along? The stuff the movie "Eight Men Out" talks about and all that.
Amazing.
The pandas did take our F away.....

My name is Brendan. People get it wrong all the time, I feel your pain.
Love the new guy, you should keep him.
"Straight WWF style! .... until the stupid pandas came and took our F away." LOL! I've said that a few times XD Ah, the good ole days
I would totally hug Breandon.
Anyone else laugh their ass off at Macho Man's "We got a blender!"? That was the Golden Era of Pro Wrestleing
Anyone remember Dustin Runnels? When he found Jesus and stopped being Goldust? He was pretty much a proto-Tebow.
oh damn I didn't know Satchbag was a writer for Cracked.
That and entrance music... Even Snooker Players have entrance music now
Who's the new guy? I like him!
actually that was going on way before WWF, WWF was just the first to have large events televised over PPV or Closed Circuit.
I think you're missing the point: McMahon redefined pro wrestling as sports _entertainment_. In essence, it's like a sports film: it's portraying sports-like activity, but in the end, it's just entertainment. You don't complain when you watch Field of Dreams and the outcome's the same every time.

THANK YOU Im a die hard fan and peopel get it mixed up all the time
Dat Joseph Cambell quote tho...
rome invented modern day sports
No, Rome stole the sports of the Greeks who were far more learned.

Democracy = fail. Constitutional dual-monarchy FTW!
Holy shit... did he just make wrestling awesome again... still not gonna watch it but thats really cool
Thats why it's not called a sport, pal. It's Sports Entertainment. HUGE DIFFERENCE.
Hey the self-depreciation bit is DOB's man! Don't riff on his riff!
GOT A BLENDER! YEAH!
Greco Roman wrestling is an olympic sport... with that said it is one of the FINEST grappling arts out there. Only grappling martial art more complete is a tie between Gracie Jiu Jitsu and Sambo... Save olympic wrestling!

+Zoey Bedenbaugh wrestling has been fake for decades. the main reason for ufc's massive success is due to boxing losing popularity
Yes! This new guy and Swaim were paired.....MORE
I liked that new guy. He's good
I love cracked.com...i wish they would do videos for everything on thier website lol
Is that the dude from Samesies?
it's been bugging me for years but i knew i saw the black dude somewhere... it's sam richardson!!! right?
is that the guy from veep?
That’s the guy on VEEP
Swaim wasn't sure about Empath. He must not like Italian food.

3:14 ''Aw, Son Of A Bitch''
he probably means the dude isn't all gangster and whatnot.
Thats the same thing with Sepp Blatter
Holy Fucking Shit

The new guy is the black DOB
Rebecca Delongpre? I spent three sad, lonely minutes racking my brain about why that last name sounded so familiar. Did you pull that out of your butts or did you subtly shout out a dead character from Veronica Mars?
damn, Sam Richardson was hiding here the whole time???
Wait til he meets Toilet Truck.
You never bet against The Champ.
DAMN!
Sports-Entertainment.
The quick zooms-in and zooms-out are quite distracting. I might not have noticed them so much had they been used sparingly but they were used after every cut, like they were just cut-and-pasted on every clip. It was almost unwatchable.

Ending subscribe video made me sad. Aw. :(
The black guy played a cartoonishly incompetent cop in the last episode of New Girl.
Aww, poor Brandon.
Oh man, I am SO glad I stayed away from wrestling.
And sports for that matter.
never bet against the big bad mawineee

have we seen an asian cracked staff member yet? Just wondering, I might have forgotten
in other words:
wrestling: twilight for men
Would be nice if Vince would pay his performers better and treat them well.
Stampede Wrestling. I retire undefeated.

I miss the F days.

I may actually be the only one to understand the Mirai Nikki reference.
Donald Trump stole VMM signature catchphrase "You're fired!" as well. The guy ahead of his time by a long shot.
Vince should bring back the Attitude Era or get better story writers
The people involved are actually athletes, give me a break. I don't even watch wrestling and I acknowledge the fact that these dudes are athletes.
I would watch the shit out of that.
Stop zooming randomly!

IT'S BLACK SWAIM!
Sheer hilarity. I was following the wrestling, kinda boggling at the names in sports, but I have seen the links for ages. Look at Jordan and Hogan. Is the Heat not NWO?
