The homage to Hollywood has the UK showbusiness industry looking like those areas around Disney land where everything is Disney themed without the copyright material. Mad.
Who else remembers when Stuart Lubbocks' (the Barrymore Pool Corpse) dad used to do publicity opportunitys wearing a T-Shirt with the words ' "Unexplained Anal Injuries" Printed on the front ??.. I do... And Barrymore Does/Did ....
Interesting comment, as I agree with you, being a bass player of some 35 years, into James Brown, jazz etc. Everything is played so flat and from a lead sheet, by people with limited music vocabulary, despite being ‘professionals’, but conversely, I was taught bass for a while by a guy called Andrew McKinney, who makes most of his bread and butter from playing in the pit for major shows (Lion King etc) and also is the bass player for the James Taylor Quartet and is a proper demon swingy groover. My point is, it varies 🙂. I’m not sure whether it’s improved over the years generally, or maybe that some shows, even then, just had better bands.
Well my Davro guess - Moira Stuart - was wrong. And his Bart mask was an even worse attempt at a Simpson face than that noseless Homer on the Great Yarmouth dodgems.
Just spare a thought for how much work and rehearsals went into this crap. Baffling and admirable at the same time. This is a hard enough watch, even edited into 22 minutes. Gad.
It's difficult how quite to critique this adequately.....but it puts me in mind of the review in 'This is Spinal Tap'....for their album 'Shark Sandwich'!....which simply read 'Shit Sandwich''.... 🙄
The hero Turtles 🐢 was absolutely pathetic…dressed in the sort of budget outfits you get at a children’s birthday party, and the theme slowed to a crawl Does it cost much to get actors/dancers who could actually do a bit of martial arts?!? 😂

I recall Andi Peters saying that the reason for the change to Hero Turtles was that no one really knew what a Ninja was at that time It makes a lot more sense than the oft-quoted “connection to old and very violent Bruce Lee films” Don’t think he ever fought a ninja! I also remember seeing the word ninja spray painted on a wall when in the 80s…we assumed it was either someone’s name or another way of spelling or something to do with the country Niger!

Even as a kid when I heard orchestras playing the A Team or even star wars I knew there was something very wrong but nobody what seemed to notice
