  • In this video, we check out the Outlaw Effects Late Riser Auto Volume Swell Pedal. This one is a quick demo but gives you a good sense of what’s possible as it sounds great with chords, lead lines, drones, and includes an awesome preset mode.
    About the Late Riser
Silences the attack of your signal and gradually brings it up to volume. Get violin or pedal steel-like swells, reproducing the sound of quickly rolling your guitar's volume knob or engaging a volume pedal. Rise control adjusts the amount of time it takes the input signal to swell from silence to full volume, while Shine (aka Sensitivity) controls how sensitive the pedal is to picking dynamics.

This seems like a pretty decent pedal, but I would probably like it better if it didn't have the "pre-set" function. I really don't like electronic pre-sets because (from my experience) they malfunction far too often if they even work at all.

Thanks. You don't have to use the preset. It's simply there as a feature

@@ThePedalGuy yes, but (from my experience) features like that often affect the rest of the functions in some way... so even if you don't use that function it can still get in the way of the overall usability of the product.

"Digital memory" is finicky and often has a "mind" of its' own. That one "function" really knocks this pedal down from something I might buy to something I would never want to use in a live setting.

Is this another analog delay swell pedal where if you play notes too fast, the circuit cannot keep up, and you lose the effect?

Well it’s not a delay. This alters the attack of the input. And like any pedal you need to practice and find the setting that works best for you.

      @@ThePedalGuy ,
Yes but the swell pedals I have played have the same issue with losing the effect if you play too fast, so I was wondering if this is also true with this pedal?

@@mck1972 my tip would be to slow down 😉

Yes it is. I bought it and am disappointed. You have to play excruciatingly slow to get it to work. Otherwise you get the repeats and unusable sound.
