Imagine if we got a prequel that focused on Mrs Afton, her relationship with her husband, her role as a mother. But most of all, how she could have been the first person to unravel William's schemes for immortality.
We could have gotten a much more mature story about a woman losing her children, slipping into depression and discovering how her husband has been manipulating an entire town and his own family into believing the deaths of his children were just tragic accidents.
As the story progresses, her life begins to further unravel as she unwittingly stumbles upon her husband's schemes for immortality, using the souls of children as a catalyst. Not only that, she also learns how Elizabeth and Evan were simply used as test subjects.
Evan's nightmares were fabricated from the use of illusion disks and tormented him at night to keep him away from Fredbear's.
I liked to picture that she's just cleaning up the house when she stumbles upon the blueprints when cleaning uo his desk.
At first she doesn't think much of it at first glance, but as she keeps reading, the truth begins to unfold.
The disappearance of Elizabeth and the death of Evan were not tragic events that seemingly happened because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
No.
This was planned, crafted in such a sophisticated manner with years of planning to make anyone unaware of the plan perceive them as just tragic accidents.

Interesting Mrs Afton theory I created - What animatronic she possesses and how she died.
Warning, this is a lengthy theory
Mrs Afton possesses the springlock looking chica at the back of Survival logbook. This is hinted by the Would you rather pages on the bottom row. Every one of them refers to an Afton except for the one about Chica. Clara (Mrs Afton stand in in Sister Location)is mentioned in the logbook about people you look up to. Also, why would that springlock chica be there in the first place if there was no meaning to it? Now for her death I believe she was killed in the "multiple simultaneous springlock malfunctions" mentioned by Phone Guy, which in the timeline (assuming that Midnight Motorists is about the Aftons) means that she dies shortly after Crying Child's death or before Crying Child's death and Midnight Motorists takes place before the bite. I think that she died before the Crying Child's death because the animatronics are clearly in animatronic mode. So for time period, I would say after Crying Child sees Purple Guy helping someone into a suit, if that isn't Mrs Afton

I really can't stress how amazing this is!! Mrs. Afton has always been an interesting character, I always feel like She died and Her death led William down this dark path, if I were to make some sort of timeline and headcanon it would go like:
Circus Baby's (Pre Murder William) opened and the infamous incident happened
After Elizabeth died, Mrs. Afton and William started to have arguments
Mrs. Afton then dies (not from murder) and William then finally snapped and the murders began

This song just makes me feel for all of them even more. All of them including him. What he did was wrong, but please hear me out for a minute. Back then there was a horrible stigma with mental health. If he admitted there was something wrong, if he told people he wasn't mentally well, he could have lost everything. He could have lost his business which is the way he supported his family. He could have lost all of his friends. To him, he was trying to prevent his life from crumbling to pieces. He was trying to keep his entire world from falling aP without realizing he was making things so much worse. And he's honestly my favorite because of that. Wanna hate me? Fine. Wanna call me disgusting? Fine. But he is, and always will be.
