  • Kyle goes into a fairly in depth description on how to go about catching more Sockeye in the Brewster Pool. This Brewster Sockeye fishery is amazing, but year in year out we get a ton of questions from guys that are struggling to catch fish. Learn about leader length, blades, hook set ups and more.

    Fished Wells dam this week, got chinook, was struggling with sockeye. Told my friend, who was in the boat, “see that boat, that’s Kyle, he posted a video yesterday, we need to watch it, I bet there are some tips there”. We watch a video, sure enough he recommended a bit longer leaders than what we had. I’ve put in a bit longer leaders, we got 6 sockeyes in an hour, before couldn’t get one for two hours. My friend asks me, “why does he do that?” Does what? Tells everybody how to catch em?
    I don’t know… Because he is a great guy.
    Thank you Kyle for being a great guy and taking your time to help us catch more fish and have more fun on the water. You are a legend.

      I agree completely. Kyle ( and very few other guides) are confident enough in their abilities to actually share details. I'm a DIY guy but if I ever hire a guide it will most likely be Kyle Jones.

    Saw you out there on Friday smashing it. Little deckhand was amazing, netting and setting. Safe travels to the coast. Saw you had really downsized your presentation, the Kill-R Lures boat (Maroon old Duckworth) was keeping pace with you and we did good, but man I've never seen so many bites as I did on your boat. That port rod got bit, lost a fish, rebaited back in and got bit again, saw that like 3 times, just crazy. Thanks for the tips on UA-cam going to have to up my game next year. Ryan

    Good stuff! This year, I've been running bow mount. Every day was a different speed up and downhill. Was nice using the bow mount, but i stay between the docks and the pumps just to not create a cluster up where most the boats are! Great tips Kyle!

    • @jonessportfishing

      @@jmdixon519 nothing wrong with using the bow mount. I just think the constant changing of speeds while operating a kicker with the tiller handle gets me more fish faster. It would be way more enjoyable for me to just stay away from the crowd and hit the easy button with the bow mount

    Whats your thoughts? I run my bowmount on a low speed and have my kicker going but locked straight but control my speed with the kicker and steer with the bowmount. I will kick in and out of gear , make turns and have related that action creates good fishing action. I just like my security blanket of the bowmount controler. Your a quality guide we have fished Wells and the Pool lots of times when your there.

    • @jonessportfishing
      @jonessportfishing  Місяць тому +1

      I think you are doing it correctly, and I don’t want to sound like I’m against the bowmounts. I have one and will use it when I want to relax, or am dealing with difficult boat handling conditions. I think varying your speed is critical, what I often see is guys just setting a speed and coarse with the bowmount and never making any adjustments.
      You are actively fishing, and that’s why you are consistently catching fish.

    Hey Kyle. Wendell Scism here. I was wondering how you run your livescope transducer... on the transom or on a pole. I'm getting ready to set up a brand new boat and could use some advice on this new tech.

    • @jonessportfishing
      @jonessportfishing  Місяць тому

      I run it on a pole. That’s the way to go so you can move it around to look. I use a minkota trolling motor shaft in a transom mount. It’s way more sturdy than most of the “high” end stuff that is made for livescope use. Most stuff is meant for crappie fisherman who don’t ever deal with current
