I am very old school and would never fish like this but this lad is so good at explaining things I would always watch anything he did. As an example he explain about not just going out shallow but plumbing up first to find the deepest part off the swim. A good angler will tell you everything and still give a lesson off the next peg, this lad is for sure a very very good angler. Thanks for the video.
It is a controversial rig and tbh, I get quite bored of it when pleasure fishing and like to fish different methods but like you said Kieran, when you’re in a match you’ve got have it in your armoury because it’s just unbeatable with the speed you can get them in at. I feel that you explain things in a simple and honest manner. Cheers 👍
good to see you showing and explaining your rigs Kieran , my go to fishing would be for carp and f1s especially after watching you fish as you did ,look forward to your live match at Weston
Class tutorial Kieran thanks for this educational overview. Converted to commercial fishing about 15 years ago getting to improve my skills with videos like this love learning to improve my F1 fishing
Wow - I don’t fish commercials and this was fascinating to watch. Commercial match fishing is a whole different beast to anything I do so these videos are really an eye opener. Many thanks.
Don't agree with the way a lot of fishing has gone, same for game or coarse. Stockies and competitions have bred a culture of more and bigger at any cost to the heritage of fishing and the environment. Too many people saying 'anything goes if you enjoy it' which is clearly illogical and a recipe for disrespect to the sport and ecosystem. Sponsors, companies and bait manufacturers obviously keen to encourage this culture, with their vested interests, ending up as a race to the bottom for standards and derision for anyone who questions it, 'ah you're a purist blah blah'. Yep I'm a purist and proud. I'll stick to fishing for our native wild fish with deliberately self-limiting rules, codes of conduct, limited impact and respect for the environment. I will enjoy good days and blank days equally and take nature as it comes.
Got it in one a blind kid with a stick could catch fish in these over stocked with Frankenstein bred fish. Get in a river where you never know what you will catch next. All these fancy rigs and baits catch you no more that the good old natural one’s
Well said . UA-cam is full of jokers putting up videos of themselves catching tons of carp 2 inches away from the bank , then patting themselves on the back for how skilful they are . The next thing you know will be them scooping fish out with a landing net and claiming they've been 'bagging up' .I'll stick to rivers and canals and try to improve my fishing knowledge.
I think there is enough room for both types of Angling and therefor we should respect both. You should not label anyone. You have Match Anglers and you have Natural Anglers. We all enjoy our sport and look after the environment.
@@Stewbo1 With all respect to your and others views, I believe there is room for all 3 types of Course Anglers and they all should be respected. Good video Kieran. here in the South East we dont have many F1 prolific waters but I have tried your method on venue's with a mixture of both F1's and Carp with reasonable results. I have got the Vespe measuring tape on all my top kits and find very usefull. Thanks for info and by the way my preferred method is Carp/F1s on the Pole. I did enjoy fishing Western Pools Jacks Lake. Cheers
Haven't dished in a while and this was first video j chose to get back into it. Not sure why I've only ever had the 1 match but just wanted to say enjoyed the video thank you very much 😊 🙏
Used to fish a commercial ,and it was heavy fished ,,every week 40 folk fished matches and the bites were lightning fast ,,then it started whip fishing and striking every few seconds ,hit maybe 1 in 6 or so then they wised up again then it was a pike bung under pole so they hooked themselves on the tension of the bung ,all u could here around the lake was the bung rattle with the weights ,they called it the rattle rig 😮,but it wasn't for me
Mega angler kerion is thanks for putting us right in St Helens tackle with hard pellet rigs mate and deffo bream fishing is my favourite thing on big natural venues but the odd match f1 fishing pulls me back from time to time
I enjoy my carp comp on the lakes , would be great to see you at Float fish farm nr Peterborough none of the comps . The Tuesday matches are great and fished on Wagtail n 2 islands both good lakes
Great video kieron explaining everything on how you approach this tactic the over shotted rig 👍 its something i need to do in my pole fishing im really looking forward to giving it a go soon im fishing Lindholm myself in September a 4 day festival unfortunately in our rules for the the festival they is no caster shalla fishing allowed so im going to have to use pellets instead or would maggots be better on there I don't know ive never fished Lindholm so wouldn't know what would be the better option what's your view on this & would you still feed the same amount of loose feed like you do when feeding caster?
Great video. When fishing the overshotted rig how much line do you have between pole tip and float? In answer to your question I prefer silver fish fishing.
great video and full of great tips and knowledge on this type of fishing, just one question would you feed less bait if you were using pellets or would be the same amount as casters and maggots?. Thanks for sharing your time and keep up the great videos
Hi thanks for you taking the time out to watch the video glad you enjoyed it. I would feed it exactly the same way with maggots and pellets when I am fishing shallow the only time I would change the way I feed would be if I was fishing on the bottom hope this helps.
Kieran first time I have watched your videos.. Great to see a left hander. I have returned to match fishing after a long break and am having to relearn everything. Is there any chance you can do a box set up video. As far as I can see nobody has done one for a left hander.
On the rare occasion I go to a commercial rammed with fish I pays my money and fish in the most effective way I can to catch as many as possible I use this in a heartbeat if it helped. If I go to an old estate lake filled with bream and tench I’d get my float rod out likewise out cones the feeder gear if conditions dictate it’s not one size fits all every time
Can I ask your advice please or anyone. Whenever I fish mainly maggots I only ever get small fish. How do you get through the small fish to the bigger ones please? Thanks
Hi Kieran, I’m new to arp competition fishing having trout competition fished for 45 yrs !! I fish Float fish farm in Cambs 90% of the time which predominantly have carp and silvers and am obviously aiming to catch carp would you use 4-6 mm pellets or castors ?

Hi hello you did not show and explain the over shotted rig how deep and what float thank you 🤩 in the video we could not see any of the measurements on the measuring type just to let you know, thank you tape
It’s not really a method for carp it can work sometimes for carp when you’re poking the over shotted rig into the cover but I would go more down the route of fishing fixed rigs for carp.
It's not the poles which are the problem , it's these hook-a-chuck commercials that have allowed crap anglers catch fish way above their skill quota .how anyone gets enjoyment pulling out carp after carp and genuinely think they have skill is beyond me . All matches should be on rivers .
Yes sometimes the over shotted rig in abit deeper water can be deadly on clear venues but I would also set up some long lash fixed rigs just to cover all bases.
There's unsponsored anglers up and down the country, pleasure fishing and in club matches that have this gear. You don't necessarily need all of it though.
It's a pity lindholme have changed the 8 inch lash limit, because in my opinion there is a lot more skill to fishing a fixed rigs and more satisfying when you catch on them .

Quite a few of the waters I fish don’t ban this explicitly, what is banned is slapping water with pole tip - which is what this approach encourages

Glad you are enjoying the videos I will speak with the guys and see if we can do a box set up at some point.
Hi Kieran what make and model is your seat box please as i am a lefty.
Matrix S36 Pro - just turn the drawers 180 degrees to get them opening on the left, to have your side tray on the right.
Brilliant video keep em coming mate
Hi Kieran. Where did you get the measuring tape from which is on your top kits. Great Video by the way. Cheers
EBay he said mate, get 4 pieces of self adhesive measuring tape for £6 odd. Called BOYUAN.

Pellets if you want to avoid the silvers but caster are brilliant for catching everything that swims
Where are the tape measure stickers from? 😍😍
Whats the point of the float?(I know its probably to get around rules)
Great Video Guys, why do you prefer the float fixed rather than an inline jigga float ? Thanks
to venues that dont allow it a 28grn method feeder loaded with bait is proberly 32 grm and is a bolt rig , and just overshotting by a no 10 cube to go thro slowly ist allowed dont get it at all
If you use this rig at Weston Pools how do you get away with it as there is a rule ,no taping
I wouldn’t use this rig at Weston pools I would use fixed rigs and a jigga rig mate.

Where did you get your depth markers from and what name do they go by thanks

Where can I get one of the matrix unhooking mats you use to display your catch at the end of the video?

Is it only a f1/silvers rig or does it also work for carp
It’s not really a method for carp it can work sometimes for carp when you’re poking the over shotted rig into the cover but I would go more down the route of fishing fixed rigs for carp.
How much does this lot cost for somebody who’s about to start fishing I’ll be so interested to know
For the tackle and set up he's using probably around £5000 but you can still catch just as many fish on tackle that costs a couple of hundred pounds
Great video 👍
BOTH MATE , JUST HAPPY TO FISH
Great vid/content kieran thx 👍
I like I fish any way that will catch me a good net of fish so tight lines 🎣🎣🎣⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍

why you randomly replacing T's with C's?

Definitely silvers on a pleasure session
Carp and F 1

The rules at lindholme have now changed you can fish most methods and they have also allowed casters again in matches.
I don’t fish commercials Silver fishing on a river every time!

My opinion needs banning, a Float is suppoesed to be above the water not under neath, hence the name Float
Alright if you can afford 30 quids worth of casters .
Drop shotting then .. kinda
Almost
