- I really like this song ! And i think Reba is amazing so i wanted to make a video to a song of hers. Hope you like it SUBSCRIBE =)
DISCLAIMER. I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE SONG!
"That's one body that'll never be found. Ya see lil sister don't miss when she aims her gun." Always loved that part.
Your right I dont
Little sister must have known Jimmy Hoffa - and since then, has been doing Hillary's dirty work.
Ha!
Same.
Me too:)
Some key points though that I wish were in the song that are only revealed in the music video is that :
1) the sister was actually with Andy which is why she killed him. She killed him for cheating on her and sleeping with her brother's wife. Which also is why she killed the wife. For cheating on her brother with her boyfriend/fiance.
2) the judge hurried the trial along because he also had slept with the wife and didn't want that information coming out.
3) the biggest thing being in the song it's implied that the brother didn't know his sister is the one who did it but in the video after he got to Andy's house he sees his sister there and knows she did it and when he hears sirens he tells her to run and takes the fall for her. So in the video she's super old and ends up telling this reporter what actually happened the night the lights went out in Georgia. Still love this song though! One of my all time favorite Reba songs!
I need to watch that video. I've always been a bit confused on who did what with who and why in this song. Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense now! 👍🏻
@@bobbindre965 yeah both are kinda confusing cause just the song leaves out a lot of important details but the video they talk over most of the song.
That's only the video though. This is a cover of the original and none of that is implied.
bobbin dre me too! Very confusing song
i LIVE for her and this song such a masterpiece
Never realized how dark of a song this actually is. She's amazing!
Very deep and dark!! I know every song by Reba. She's a beast!!! I just sang Fancy at karaoke last week, had the bar totally hyped 😂😂😂
Isn't it crazy listening to songs as an adult that grew up to hearing and not realizing what they're really saying?? Lol there's a lot of songs that as a kid i just thought was a catchy song, or whatever, and now that I'm older it's like OOOOHHHHHH!!!!!! "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is a great example!!! Lmfao Loved it as a kid, i liked baseball so thought the lil bit with the announcer was cool....Now as an adult I realize he was trying to get this girl to fuck him!!!!! He lies to her about being in love just ti get laid!!!! Then talking about how he can't wait to die to get away from this bitch!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 it's kinda messed up really......although, i do still love the song LMFAO and good ol "Fancy," never realized when I was younger that her mom sent her off to be a hooker!! Lol crazy!!!!
@Stevie Lee Considering I was a kid when it came out, not that hard to understand lol. 😊
@Stevie Lee considering I was 6 when it came out.....yea, there's a lot that I didn't catch or understand! Lol "to tell you the truth, I've been with her myself..." A 6,7,8,9 year old isn't gonna realize that that means he had sex with her too!!! There's plenty in this song that a little kid just doesn't have the knowledge or life experience to understand.
Me either. Never understood the lyrics when I was younger. Apparently I sung murder songs 😂😂😂
My sister got to be a stand in for Reba McEntire. She told me she was one of the kindest sweetest person. 😊
That's great that she said that to ur sister ❤
This is by far the best country song I have heard in a while. Reba is my favorite country singer
Like Hell
You do know this song was released in 1991 right?
Try Vince Gill amazing
@@rondakayecoxedwards21 why like hell? Just curious?
I get it, bud. Counrty has become bubbly gum pop in my opinion. If this is the first time you're hearing this song, I'm glad you found it. Great song. Morbid as hell and sad, but great song. Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson are also wonderful.
Every time I hear her songs i always get goosebumps especially this one. Love ya Reba
Same! I always get goosebumps on this one
Seen her perform this in concert when I was a teenager. Loved it!
2019 and still love this song Reba is a legend
Same
Oh yea
Classics never get old!
Agreed.
2021
Never did understand the guy at the bar, "I'm your best friend ... I've been with your wife." you ain't much of a friend then, damn!
She was a fat hog anyways
Happens more often then you think
@Jeremy Lim You can still get the county name on your license plate here in FL. I have one like that. Didn't realize it was a "southern" thing.
pluggin the wife of your best friend is bad public relations.
Anyone still listening? Aug 20, 2019!
Krista September 2019 actually Haha this song is twice at old as me
Farless me Addison!
October 😂😂
October 5, 2019!!!

2020 still the best song ever
It's a Reba song.... it will ALWAYS be an amazing song no matter what year :D
Yeah love reba always
Still one of the best songs from when country was country
this is what country is missing. good music and a story.....country now days, since 05 , in my opinion, is just the bottom of a camp outhouse.
COLIN LEVASSEUR is it a bass on a true song
DahliaConejita
Or stereotypical country stuff, like "oh we likes de beer and cowboi and shet, oh tractor is kool".
Born and raised In the sticks love music like this but also bump up church ,big murph and fj outlaw
Country hasn't been authentic since the 90s this shit now is pathetic.
I hate how true that is. That's why I listen to the older music. Cause nothing nowadays are even country it's always beer, drug, or fake country boys/girls.
So true... don't mess with a southern woman, they usually carry!
You see little sister don't miss when she aims her gun...
ellen reed Hetalia Belarus
Nope, nope, never!
Mary Ellen Reed
One of my favorite lyrical lines ever written. ❤️❤️❤️ #golden
Son...
sounds like my sisters if somone ever messed with me I don't think they'd miss lol
Bobby Russel wrote this song in 1972 and it was originally sung by his then wife Vicki Lawrence (of the Carol Burnett Show and later in Momma's Place). I was in High School at the time ant it got a lot of play on our local radio station and was still going strong in 1973 when I was in college. I really do like the cover by Reba, and the video that she put with it. Something about the song made it stick with me all these years. Bobby Russel also wrote 'Little Green Apples' another classic country song of that time.
Born in 2006 and was raised on this kind of classic country God bless my parents for raising me right
Classic??
Born in 2005
I was born in 2005 and my parents raised me on this kind of country music too and I'm so thankful cause its taught me some life lessons
Elizabeth Farley it 100% is actually. Things over 25 years old is classic.
Don’t listen to those clowns it was released in 92 and that’s 27 years, Classic.
This is like if there was a criminal minds episode back in like the 1800s or something
More like snapped😅
Re-visiting Reba after that kick ass CMA performance 🔥🔥
I love the stories in country music!!!! I can't help it!!!!
Then you love "Phantom 309"
Mama'sLaundrymat FitnessRants yeaaaah!!

all these years later listening and I still get goosebumps every...single...time.
I love how the lyrics look. it goes with the song! 😍😍😍
Amber Heitsenrether 👌 👌ok
Beautiful soul, nice song and a pure heart, Hello how are you doing?
what a great story and reba delivers it beautifully
laura whitetail love her
Beautiful soul, nice song and a pure heart, Hello how are you doing??
Wow, you gotta give props to Vicki Lawrence ( Mama from Mama's Family) for writing such an awesome song, and even bigger props to Reba for making it such a HUGE hit!!!!!
+play4u67 Vicki Lawrence did NOT write this song Reba HERSELF wrote the song off of the movie that she had starred in which was called (The Night The Lights Went Out In Gerogia) which the movie was based off the book from the 1940s and the book was based off of true events that occurred in the late 1800s.
Cheating Longplays
I'm sorry I was wrong about one thing, Bobby Russell wrote the song, however, Vicki Lawrence recorded it first...please read on to see what I'm saying....
"The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" is a Southern Gothic song, written in 1972 by songwriter Bobby Russell and sung by Vicki Lawrence, an American singer, actress, and comedienne. Lawrence's version, from her 1973 Bell Records album of the same name, was a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 after its release. In addition to several other renditions, the song was again a hit in 1991 when Reba McEntire recorded it for her album For My Broken Heart. McEntire's version was a single, as well, reaching number 12 on Hot Country Songs.
I don't to be mean but it sounds like you might have gotten this off the internet and I really don't trust the internet for info plus in the interview that CMT had with Reba back in the day Reba stated that she wrote the song for the movie that she starred and the movie was based off the book from the 1940s and the book was based off true events that occurred in the late 1800s. Now I have seen what Wikipedia says with other websites and I have also seen the biography of the song in a biography book of the song and it stated Reba started it, if Bobby Rusell is stating he wrote the same song well then he has some answers that needs to be answered.
Cheating Longplays
, I don't see you as being mean :) Actually, you may very well be correct, I certainly don't have all the answers, but, as a kid (when the song first came out) this is what I've always heard and saw from Television, yes, the internet does say this very same thing I quoted to you, but what I'm expressing to you is from my childhood memories and such, not so much from the internet (I too, don't trust everything on the net either..lol). And I do agree that if Bobby Russell is stating that he wrote it, then someone needs to clarify this and squash all rumors...I do agree with you for sure on that!!!!
*****
I do not know what movie your talking about 1955 WHAT??? There was another movie with that name that came out in the 80s called "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" there must be two movies with the same name but the one I am talking about Reba McEntire WAS in it and I also OWN IT so I know that Reba was in it. I believe it was in the late 80s that the one that I have came out, and your other info came from an Encyclopedia okay now I believe it that so Reba did not write it, but there was a movie called "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia and it came out in the late 80s with Reba in it, it might have been remake for all I know, I just know that there was one and she WAS in it.
This poor dude leaves the town for two weeks and his wife sleeps with everyone 😅 #byefelicia
😂😂😂
And dude sister killed her, that's family.
Steve Griffith But she let her brother take the rap for a murder that she committed! Who needs family like that? 😩
Sheron Edge she tried to stop it. But it was too late
@@sheronedge6723 she should've wrote a letter before leaving the country detailing where she buried the wife.
I think people who don't listen to country think it's just trucks and girls but what they don't realize is it's like 75% vengeful destruction and murder and that's honestly one of my favorite parts
I was one of those people can you recommend more songs like this, I really enjoyed the storytelling
AN UNDERRATED COUNTRY MUSIC QUEEN.
And a quality actor. She's one of the characters in Tremors, among other movies. ;)
Beautiful soul, nice song and a pure heart, Hello how are you doing???
The stories in country music are amazing.
This song gives me chills but I still love it
Agreed, this song tells an AMAZING story. I love songs that tell stories, it's a real art.
I feel badly for the people who can't appreciate this music...

Reba a good singer ! I love the song
Who's listening to it in 2020?😍❤😂😘
Absolutely love reba!!!!😍😍
She's a really good storyteller/singer
I love how it's a whole story, and that a lot of country songs are like this. (i.e. Ol' Red, Red Dirt Road, etc.)
Lol
Beautiful soul, nice song and a pure heart, Hello how are you doing??
this is real country music and now days the country music is trying to turn into hip hop
I cant even begin to think why they even call it country music today, it sucks so god damn bad and its the furthest thing from country.
Mercedes Flowers ABSO FRICKIN LUTELY!!! smhv 😖😝😩
Mercedes Flowers not that I prefer today's country to what I grew up with... But country music evolves.. just like all other genres. the Beatles used to be rock music.. theyre classic rock now and rock music is nothing like the Beatles. That what happens as time goes on. It doesn't mean country isn't country it just means it's changed ..modern country. This kind of music still exists and is still being made. It's not alot but it hasn't died!
Mercedes Flowers YES! I was just telling my husband something to this effect; they don't make enough music that actually tells a story
Mercedes Flowers you said it!!!! The shit that's been coming out from 2k forward is garbage!
This is one of the most epic Choruses
Damn her voice is beautiful
"That's one body that'll never be found"
Favourite part
Reservoir Dogs brought me here and I am so glad I own that movie. This is true Country Music.
I love old country music and new country music it makes me remember my mom and dad thank you for putting a good music and the artists thank you God bless you all

So glad I found this old treasure!
Beautiful soul, nice song and a pure heart, Hello how are you doing??
Glad I finally found the lyrics to this. The story was a little hard for me to follow.
I love this song. The story behind it is great. I also enjoy new country for there is some great stories hidden in the music. You need to take the blinders of. Reba is a great lady. So is Luke Bryan, Megan Patrick, and many more
Beautiful soul, nice song and a pure heart, Hello how are you doing??
Is a great lady so is luke Bryan! 😂😂😂
Anyone else listening to this after the murdaugh verdict?! 😅
What has you all teary eyed in laughter? The death of the wife and child or the verdict? I don't find either so funny that I would laugh all teary eyed.
@@jacklyn6253wrong emoji, pal.
😅 =/= 😂
this has got to be my favorite song by Reba
I'm turning 60 and this brings back memories to singing this at the the 6th grade talent show when I realized that I can't sing and started rocking the bass instead. Lol
Little sister don't miss when she aims her gun. If that was me and my brother I'd have done the same thing except they wouldn't have gotten ahold of him because I'd be like oh hell no.
Shay Rogers I'm with ya gurl
Me too
it outright says she was going to confess, but they never gave her a chance, they had an on the spot trial and immediately hung him
You would be a wonderful sister
Right answer
Love songs that tell stories
Philip Shirk I wouldnt call this a love song at all. Its about infidelity, jealousy, revenge, rage, murder.
I listen to 90s country and its 2018 takes me back to the best time in my life. Sherri
I love this song it is so sad but catchy
i hear this song on the radio all the time and i love it
This is really a sweet sad and very twisted but yet beautiful song i love it💗🌹
Family doesn't always stick by each other this one sure does
This song is a remake of the Vicki Lawrence version from the 70s. That was one of Vicki's first exposures to fame. I remember listening to it on pop radio at the time. The lyrics were a bit too complex for me then, but soon I realized what was going on. The twist at the end is irresistible.
That's one sister you never wanna get on the wrong side of.
Beautiful soul, nice song and a pure heart, Hello how are you doing?
Shooting a gun in the general area of a corpse that had been shot to attract the police. A1 thinking.
MrCarson1997 sup homie isn't going to cut it you have to grab attention.
in the late 1800s the Georgia patrol was probably on horseback, but you'd want to be far from the scene when you hail them down.... either way would probably be best to let someone else get the police and stay far away from the scene.
He should have shot three times... that means I need help
we wanted to be caught his life was over the women he gave his life to ruined it
That's what I was thinking....
So I grew up in the south but I usually hated southern music but this- THIS- it’s my jam
Loved this song as a kid
That Amos boy Seth got out of this jam scot-free.
DinoVeritas
Maybe the sister killed him afterwards?
she never saw the amos boy, that was andy lying
Don't know.. maybe he was with the cheating wife when Little Sister found her....
Personally, I think the sister went after Andy rather than "that Amos boy Seth" because Andy was her brother's best friend, which made the betrayal worse.
DinoVeritas 😂
NOT ONLY IS REBA HOT!! SHE CAN SING. HER VOICE IS THAT TYPE THAT PIERCES THE SOUL!!
Love this song!
I have been trying to find this song for years! I finally found it!! I love this song!
First time listening to this!! Beautiful

This is my first time ever knowing the lyrics from this song. I’ve loved the song for decades not knowing everything that was said...now I know And I’m twisted. Still one of favorite country songs of all times
Agreed. Still as confused as I was as a kid...so why did the lights go out in a town if they hung Brother? Now maybe if they put him in an Electric Chair and it tripped a breaker, that's plausible.
While Reba is indeed soulful and lovely to listen to, this has got to be one of the saddest songs I've ever heard.
No big sister don't play around 😂

I'm so sorry for your loss.
Why do you think that for and I'm very sorry for your loss
