When I was young my uncle Bob K. sold new Fords. My oldest brother Max had graduated high school in spring 1965, he went over and got A job at Delco Remy in Anderson In. right out the door. By the winter he placed an order in late December for A Red on Black 1966 Ford Fairlane 390C.I. that car would haul ass. He was banging gears in it when he backed it into some trees and that was it totaled. The he was on to A 1967 390 Mustang. But I was hooked, I would have to have me one of those 1966 Ford Fairlane's, well I've had two over the years, among A bunch of other old Ford's my last one was A 1967 Ford Falcon 289 sports coupe, Ca. car, built to the MAX and yes it would pull the front wheels off the ground.....

I lived in Monroe, LA in 1966. The local Ford dealership (Rivers Ford) received one of these cars. I knew the sales manager who was going to drive it on the new local dragstrip. I stopped by and he showed it to me. It was exactly like these cars with a lift off hood. It was shortly after that I went in the USAF so I never saw it run and never knew what happened to it.

I worked a summer job in may through July of 1966 at the L&N railroad yard adjacent to the Ford Assembly plant in Louisville, KY. We mostly loaded full size Fords and heavy truck made in that plant onto auto racks (tri-level rail cars) and pedestal flat cars for shipment all over the world, we did receive Mustangs and Fairlanes and pickups for unloading too. In June or July we received a shipment of 66 Fairlanes from the Atlanta plant which included two white 427 stick shift cars. They had bare bones Interiors and almost no options that I can remember. The window stickers said they were destined for a racing team with a Michigan address. Some of my coworkers took the opportunity to exercise these cars in the huge storage lot before they were picked up by a typical auto hauler for deliver to Michigan. I appreciate your video about these cars.

The 427 side oiler engine used in the GT40 had factory cast ports for using a dry sump oiling system as a wet sump wasn't possible for use on them. Did anyR code 427 engines have these ports?? Did 427 Cammers have them ?? Or was the GT40 427 block a one off only for them ??

GT40's and all race 427 were production line cast blocks, nothing special. When used in the GT40, there was an external dry sump system with a two piece oil pan and front cover that contained the oil pump, scavenge and pressure lines. Thanks for watching!
