C'mon UA-cam! Im listening to this acoustic god so much time, his music follows me everywhere I go, anything I do, I have maybe one hundred cycled melodies, thinking I know all of his works and I luckily find this one after 7! years using Spotify first day. Shame on you, UA-cam!
Before, i didn't really like don Ross's music because i thought it was too technical and really accessible to the grand public. But i changed and now I think I could'nt live without Ross's music, it's really amazing, some songs are really funny to hear (Blue Bear per example, I'm in a kind of a transe when I hear it's really unbelievable lol) and some others are more quiet and calm like this one, but still beatiful and full of emotion. Go Don go !!! You're my god guy !
Ross', andy's, antoine's etc, when some of their songs like this one gets more complex, sometimes it takes another musician to appreciate what's going on esp. a guitar player and unfortunately, this may also result in a smaller than would be audience. Doubtless, they are to me among the top 10 fav guitarists in the world and I hope more ppl will come to see the beauty of what is being played here.
it's a G#! tuning G#EADF#B (from low to high). And yes, it is a baritone guitar. Standard tuning equivalent of this tuning would be C#ADGBE - so it's standard tuning but with the 6th string down a step and a half.
@georgejonez I actually learnt this from watching the video. Once I discovered I could play it with standard tuning (except the low E is dropped to C#) it became easy to play. All the chords are text book. I can upload a tutorial if you want. There is a song he did a long time ago called "Island of Women-" This version is the improvement of that.
@hamish89melrose There is still justice in this world, go check out Don Ross's friend Andy Mckee. He's also a guitarist in the same style and he has a video with 40 million views. watch?v=Ddn4MGaS3N4
Isn't it crazy that Kanye West, Britney Spears etc get millions of hits for there blasé churned out so called 'pop' and this has 29,000!! Where is the justice!?.... what is wrong with people????
Hm, I can hear the melody clear in my head, but this is just a little too jarring with his position jumps for my ears. But I guess I was expecting more of a smooth jazz sound or something.
Don Ross should run for president!

OMG, this from 16 years ago and new to me, when Don had big hair.
Such a progressive jazz piece❤
If there's anything better than Don's playing, it's the titles for the songs
Especially the stories about how he chose the title :)
@@lfsanity9564 could you relay the story?
I love how this song is so quirky yet relaxing at the same time.
What a mysterious, luring tune. The fact that I cannot really construe it makes this piece so fascianting.
listen to that low 6th string rumble! God i love Don's stuff!!
Amazing - defintely some classical and flamenco elements.
Loving this! thanks for sharing.
