In 1993, ⁠Sunniva Sorby⁠ was part of the first all-women expedition team 🧗‍♀️ to ski across Antarctica to the South Pole. That historic journey launched a thirty-year career of wilderness adventure, eventually transforming Sunniva into a citizen scientist 🔬 conducting climate change research in both the Antarctic and Arctic regions.
Along with her endeavors, Sunniva co-founded the non-profit organization, ⁠Hearts in the Ice⁠ ❤️‍🔥 to drive action and promote engagement in the climate change conversation.
In this episode, Sunniva shares her extraordinary experiences, including a nineteen-month overwinter in a remote trapper’s cabin in the Arctic 🎿. Alongside Hearts in the Ice co-founder ⁠Hilde Fålun Strøm,⁠ Sunniva captured this adventure in their riveting book, ⁠Hearts in the Ice: The Adventures of the First Two Women to Overwinter Solo in Svalbard⁠⁠. ⁠
