I seriously hate this puzzle so much. I managed to get in a such locked state that I can't move or I don't know how to but it back to the original position. It drives me crazy.
This is a tough one that can get very tangled!
This puzzle has a lot of different, beautiful merges aside from the original setup. I really enjoyed it a lot but I have to agree with you. You can definitely tangle it up in such a way that you would rather throw it in a corner than keep trying to solve it :)
Me to
Easiest way to fix that is shaking it mindlessly and trying to turn it as many ways as you can, got REALLY stuck with mine as well, but that worked for me
Jackson Cazier Mine doesn’t move anymore
Wow amazing. I’m gonna have to watch this multiple times.
Yes, it does take a couple time working through it before it comes more naturally. Lots of steps to remember.
I've solved many of the hardest Hanayama puzzles (Level 6), but for some reason I've struggled with this one. I don't give up easily, so I'm not going to watch you video just yet, but I still gave it a thumbs up.
Managed to do this one yesterday. 20 minutes to dissemble but 90 minutes to reassemble.
I found reassembling it really tough, you've done a good job of walking through it in a simple way here.
Nice job doing it on your own! This one is a really tough puzzle! :)
Same here.
This hanayama puzzle was a bit too much for me, I got it apart but could not put it back together. I looked at some video solutions on youtube and most of them are really hard or impossible to follow. This quartet solution video is IMHO the best available, thank you
Same. I bust it out occasionally thinking I'll get it back together but never do. I'm a pretty big puzzle fan, and this is literally the only one in my lifetime I can't get, even with help. I'd seriously pay someone 20$ to put it back together for me so I can finally let it go.
I somehow disassembled and reassembled it without instructions once, then disassembled it againn but was absolutely unable to reassemble it a second time - it drove me insane. Thanks for the solve.
Glad it helped!
I tried since two weeks WITH a lot of solution videos - nobody explained it so that I could solve the reassemble. THIS video brought the breakthrough - now I can assemble it again. THANK YOU!
Love to hear it was helpful! :)
It really blows my mind that someone can look at a puzzle like this a figure out a solution to it all on their own. I can solve q few different rubix cubes, but that's bc I learned the algorithms. It's crazy for me to think that someone sat down one day and figured out those algorithms for the first time all in their head.
I spent a long time analyzing this puzzle, moving one piece and seeing how that configuration restricted or enabled the movement of other pieces, really trying to make sense of it. But my brain was no match for it and after watching this tutorial I realized I would have never figured it out.
For me this was a good lesson in mental limitations. I like to think of myself as an intelligent person and I excell in many different aspects of life that other people find hard, but in the realm of intuitively solving 3 dimensional puzzles like this I have no inherent skill whatsoever. And that's ok, it's a humbling experience
What blows my mind is the engineers who design these puzzles! They are super human!
I DID IT! Omg it took me like a solid week of messing with this thing every day. Thanks for explaining the steps!
Glad it helped!
With your help it is the first time I got the quartet back together after solving it! Thanks!
Glad I could help!
This is the only 100% maddening Hanayama puzzle. Thank you!
I figured this out on my own before watching your video. And I still have no idea how. This puzzle is torture. Lol. I watched your video to learn it better. And man it has sooo many steps for such a simple design.
Definitely lots of steps! That's cool that you solved it!
Found this puzzle in an old box. thanks for showing me how to put it back together in its original config. good video.
Best video for this puzzle. Thank you
Glad it was helpful for you! :)
Eric Buffington, thank you so much. Great video that make buyer of this puzzle sleep.
Thanks... wait what? Was that a burn? Well at least I'm helping make the world a better place in some way. :) lol Have a wonderful day!
Thank you. I solved it in about 1/2 hr. But needed to refer to your video to reassemble. Probably the most difficult Hanayama level 6 to date to reassemble that I’ve done.
It was a definite challenge! Glad this was helpful! :)
I got mine 6 years ago ... I'm in the middle of a med change ... and I'm not handling this puzzle too well at the moment. Why am I so stupid??? How did someone design the puzzle?
Solved ot in like 5 mins
omfg thank u so much man for the assembling part, it was somewhat longer than others, but with easy enough twists and turns that I was able to assemble mine without breaking it or soaking it in oil
so glad that it helped!
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou, been at this puzzle on and off for 2 years and could NEVER solve it, I gave in and decided to watch a video and finally got it back together 😅🙏🏻
0:12 solution
4:12 putting it back
Thanks for the time links!
Sir, Thank you very much!!!!!
So glad this solution helped! I appreciate the comment! :)
thanks for the help
No problem!
I bought this puzzle around Christmas and within a day or so of fiddling with it, I somehow got it to come apart. I only just now had to watch your video to figure out how to put it back together. I never would have figured it out, my god this one is ridiculous.
Thanks!
Great job!
Thank you
You're welcome
thanks to you. i finally fixed my puzzle
Fantastic!
I got 3min to disassembly and 13 min assembly 💪 no tips/tutorials
didn't expect it to go that fast, tried anothet puzzle which was noted as less hard, and couldn't solve. The star with spiral
That's so good! Nice Job!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
You are welcome! :) Glad you found the video!
@@EricBuffington I could not get this puzzle back to its original form . i tried for a few years . ^^" but now it finally happened!!! ^_^ Bless you !!
I'm here because I'm an absolute failure.
But you can succeed. I have faith in you.
Me too man
I literally just subbed and turned on notifications and after a while I got this vid.... What a coincidence!
I did it just for you. :) Hope you enjoy the puzzle. It's a good one!
This puzzle took me approximately 12 minutes to take it apart. Classic hanyama in the sense of 'if it doesn't move easy it shouldn't'
And then I spent three days trying to figure out how to reassemble before giving up
Great job. I watched several others. They sucked. You made it doable.
Thanks for the feedback! :) Glad my video helped!
How do you keep your peices well without chipping or scratching them? I really don't use force at all and they still chip or scratch occasionally.
Mine is pretty new. Maybe that's the reason.
Today I solved it, I disassembled it in leas then an hour, but it took a week to assemble it. But I did it, without any help or instructions!
Great job!
Thank you. Now I can get some sleep. This kept me awake at night, because I was not able to put it back together.
Glad I could help. I know that feeling.
I cant get past the first rotation it just locks
hmmm. Wiggle it a bit, but don't force it. Make sure it looks exactly like what I do.
Thanks that helped me
they changed the location of the stamps so ... you can't go by stamp orientation alone. It only marks the pairs.
A little help here? I have the quartet couple in the "normal"/starting position, whereas the Hanayama are rotated 90 degrees. I can't go back to starting position for both couples.
I found this puzzle the other day when I was volunteering at goodwill and got it for free csuse they were gonna throw it away.. I have almost all of the Hanayama puzzles and needed this one.. but I haven't tried it yet but looks lkke a pain in the a$$
I eventually got the puzzle disassembled, but only thanks to your tutorial I got it back together. This is a very hard puzzle and I love everything about it. It feels great to handle, a very well designed piece! Thanks for the vid, it was very useful and not hard to follow. Well done.
Thanks for the feedback! :)
In the last configuration in the bonus section, you forgot to spin it :) it comes apart neatly
the forbidden move
I can't manage to turn the hanamaya peice in the last step, is there a trick to it?
The thickness of pieces appear to be same thickness, they are NOT it is a spatial illusion once you realize that there are no tricks! Very easy! LIKE A Boss! Nd is that all its got?
Good job!
Cool!! Which one is your number 1 favorite?
My favorite to date is still the NEWS. It is just such a little gem and I can carry it around with me a stump most people, then in a second almost everyone can solve it. So I like that about the puzzle.
@@EricBuffington Thank You Eric... I ordered one :).
thank you! i sorted it out, but just could connect it 😂
Well done!
The 'wonderwoman' config reminds me of the Weyland-Yutani Corp image heh.
I found a third pattern with bonus one.
That's great! I really like this puzzle!
I some how got it into it's "initial state" but with un-matching pairs together
hmm, I've never had it that way.
This is what mine looks like!!!
managed to take it apart without even really thinking about it, but putting it back together is frustrating me so much
Perfect way to lose angry thoughts
me over here throwing it at the wall trying to break it then counting it being broken and a success😂
Mine are now two trapezoids and they are completely stuck and I can’t get them back
Swastika 9:39
I was able to unlock it in minutes, but failed to put it back together. Even I’m watching this video I have to pause several times to make sure I follow it correctly.
What is your number one hanayama puzzle?
I have two that I think are my 'favorites' Hanayama NEWS and Hanayama Enigma. You can get them here: amazon.com/shop/ericbuffington
This is ok, but I have a much easier way of doing this. Using the Hanayama pair as a “base” and moving the quarter pair around and then apart. Sliding the side of the one quarter part takes a lot of practice though.
Sounds cool! :)
Mine is just shot got it done then tried to reasonable on it is so messed up
Oh no! I've gotten this one tangled up pretty bad too. Keep working with it until one of the steps looks like something in this video.
I got mine tangled and I can’t get it out now
Oh no! I had mine get tangled several times too. Try watching the video and getting it to any state you see in the video and work from there. This one can be very tough!
Mine is in a completely locked state right now. Does anyone have tips
SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER! * Yzma *
Not even the first move works for me. And I followed exact orders. What is happening?
I followed it exactly, accidentally had one piece in the wrong position, now it’s stuck forever.
oh no! I'm not sure what to do about that. ugh! Sorry that happened!
I've tried for days and can't get it back together.
What's your 1st favorite hanayama puzzle?
Probably Key II. Cause I can bring it with me and it's fun for all level of puzzlers.
my hanayama peice doesnt rotate but my quartet one does im so confused
That is strange. I'm not sure what to say. ???
2:28 how the hell are you able to make it appear that simple? Mine won't rotate in this step.
lots and lots and lots and lots of practice! :)
Solved this by only hearing
I got it apart in 3 minutes, but I can’t get it back together 🤣
To be honest I don't know why I'm here this just looks interesting
Thanks for watching! :)
@@EricBuffington no problem I'm looking forward to more videos like this
Cool but where's the gigantic 19 year old mob boss?
I think we got a fake, the paint started crumbling off and it was a mess
3min to dissemble 60min later still not able to reassemble....
That can definitely be the tough part! Best of luck!
Even with the video I can't do this. The first time I messed around with it for about 2 hours, I gave up and came back a couple days later, then just a few minutes I had a piece come off. I wasn't even happy, the one thing which I can say is something about this one just isn't satisfying. Not hating on this video. But that's my opinion.
🤦♂️ I can’t put it back together, this is so frustrating!
Sorry to hear that. But honestly it's kinda cooler when it's apart. Just keep trying to follow the steps! It'll come together.
I’ve been stuck on how to put this bastard together for weeks. I got it apart but putting it together is impossible. I watched this video and still don’t get it.
Keep trying. It'll go back together.
got this at a white elephant party but i’m an idiot thx for this
I’ve tangled mine so bad I don’t think it’s even solvable
I felt that way a couple of times. Try to get it looking like something from the video and move from there.
Shouldn’t have to force it... challenge accepted
Good luck!
Eric Buffington don’t need it when you have plyers. Last rotation to finish putting it back together. It’s completed though
Did you really figure this out on your own?
yeah.. see.. thing is.. My pieces don't do that..?
Wow I must be a different type of stupid. Even with the video solution I still can’t get it back together
watch it again slowly and follow it exactly. You'll get it! :)
3 years later : still "giggling" the piece because IT WONT GO IN
:)
Ayo the last one tho 🤨
i feel like the only way to solve this puzzle is accidently
That's funny you should say that. I've seen so many puzzles solved and people have no idea how they solved them. :)
Mai to Haryana padh kar yaha aa gaya
Eric: Here we have a swastika it kinda looks like the Wonder Women symbol
Who else is here bcuz of the tic tac toe master
YES!!!
Not an easy solution if you continue to move pieces too quickly without pausing with close ups. Also, my puzzle has 2 pieces each marked quartet and one piece Hanayama. So when you refer to the quartet piece and move and rotate 15 times in 10 seconds I don’t know where the heck I’m supposed to be!! LoL.
Thanks for the feedback! :) This was one of my earlier puzzle solutions, I think you'll find the newer ones slow down a bit more. :)
I can solve this easy, have been able to for years, but I hate it more than almost all of the hanayama puzzles: There is nothing “puzzle” about it, you just jam together the pieces a bunch of times until it comes apart. The solution should be hard, but simple, but the quartet is hard, and super complicated. That is why I hate it.
It is definitely one of the most challenging puzzles. And it also can get so messed up that it makes it very frustrating to work with.
Agreed, sorry I got a little bit passionate about this puzzle
Even though i follow the directions, I still struggle every time. Tried to learn the whole recipe but i f up in some magical way and I'm so f-ing angry XD
Oh man! I'm sorry to hear that! This is one of the really frustrating puzzles for sure! Don't beat yourself up!
@@EricBuffington Thank you. You are very kind. I hope you post more puzzles in the future :)
Расскажите на русском языке, пожалуйста ❓🙂..
Please!!!
Reassembly is the hardest. Your solution is ridiculous in comparison to this: "Quartet puzzle by Hanayama SOLVED. Easiest solution + 2 different solutions"
When I found this one I about crapped myself. In relation to this reassembly it is 1000 Times simpler. Sorry for being a critic but I stumbled onto a reassembly myself so I knew there had to be something just a bit simpler than your solution. It's when I was trying to reassemble it the 2nd time that I decided to look up a few videos.
учи русский, весь мир уже говорит на русском!
So we’re just gonna ignore your subliminal swastika at 9:38? Lol
please do! That's actually the one thing I don't like about this puzzle. Almost didn't make the video because of that.
@@EricBuffington
Well don't forget Hanayama is a Japanese company and Japan still embraces the swastika for its ancient origin and religious ties. A lot of debate has been going on about it from both supporters and condoners.
theoutline.com/post/6998/buddhist-temple-swastika-japan-maps-olympics-2020?zd=1&zi=vtrbqbgm
Furthermore Quartet makes a left facing swastika.
"There is the right facing swastika, or the one highjacked by the Nazi party, which represents the evolution of the universe (pravritti), and the left-facing swastika, which symbolizes the involution of the universe (Nivritti, the process that allows creation to happen).
The left facing swastika is most commonly known as a symbol of Buddhism, and is used on maps to indicate a Buddhist temple, and the symbol is still found on many ancient temples, and other works of art."

Your tone of voice and vague labeling of corners is giving me an aneurysm
Wow! I now have to decide if I will use this power for good or for evil... decisions decisions...
I'm pissed. 20 minutes with tutorial and I'm more messed up than ever. I hate this puzzle with a passion
your reassembly is soooooooo confusing....
oops! Sorry!
Not helpful at all
these instructions suck. I'll be making a 100X more simplified version
