Let me share another delicious way to enjoy this cheese. I mash some in a bowl with sour cream and honey or maple syrup and a pinch of salt. Also pumpkin pie spice in the fall is a nice addition. It’s absolutely delicious!! I come from a Slavic background and they very often also make farmers cheese into sweet crepe fillings or pancakes, & other things too. All so delicious!
I had a gallon of raw milk and needed to get it used up. I followed along with the video and it turned out amazing!! I am going to make pizza tonight with it. I think it will be excellent. Thank you so much!!!!

Wait until you find out that almost every chef at every restaurant you've ever eaten at has tattoos. Ink under your skin doesn't impact your ability to cook. Do better.

I have a lot of milk from my Jersey cows. I’m trying to start making cheeses Mine turned out great! I added garlic and herb seasoning and kept it crumbly to easily sprinkle onto dinner dishes ❤ Thank you 😊
I make homemade paneer nearly the same! Lemon juice instead of vinegar & no salt. Twisted into a ball in cheesecloth & hung, then used to make Saag Paneer=Spinach & cheese. Served over Basmati rice ;)

Does it have the flavor of vinegar? It's better to use lemon juice and after parting the whey rinse it with water and rinse and squeeze it for the lemon taste to vanish

Our cheese turned out dry and crumbly. Can I still add a bit of the whey to it after it's been in the fridge for a day or so to make it less dry and better for spreading?
And if you want the taste and feel on farmer cheese from the store, after rinsed and squeezed add melted sweet butter and knead it roughly and it will be buttery tasty as store farmer cheese
It’s just a thin large white towel. I meant to link one in the description, I will do that now. You can use any thin lint free piece of cloth, or you can use cheesecloth if it’s strong enough. As to why it’s called a “flour sack towel” I believe they used to be made out of the bags people would buy their flour in back when it came straight from the mill.
Yes, as long is it's a tight weave and not super flimsy. You just have to be able to wring it out well and I know some cheese cloth can't withstand that kind of thing. A regular towel would work too!
Yes, it melts great! The only think with farmer’s cheese is that it doesn’t have a very strong flavor, but you can add in whatever you’d like to go with how you will use it.
So, 1tbs of Himalayan salt is too much lol. I couldn't find my sea salt container thanks to kids. I substituted Himalayan salt instead but didn't take into consideration it is "saltier" than regular sea salt. I also think I may have drained off too much whey, and my cheese is super dry.

It would affect the taste and is pretty acidic. You can use a small amount in smoothies, lacto-ferments, or give to animals. It is also used in some natural skin and hair treatments where the other ingredients are very alkaline, therefore helping to bring the recipe to a neutral pH.

In the past I've used some garlic salt, rosemary and mixed herbs. All worked out quite well.

I can’t say I’ve tried it, but maybe? It would probably just end up in your whey though, not in the cheese.

I rinse it out and then just machine wash. I only boil my cheesecloth before making a hard cheese.

Hmm… I don’t think you’ll be able to incorporate more whey after it has set up unfortunately.
And if you want the taste and feel on farmer cheese from the store, after rinsed and squeezed add melted sweet butter and knead it roughly and it will be buttery tasty as store farmer cheese

I’ve found recipes for whey caramel where it turns into a sauce you can use to flavor coffe drinks dip fruit in and put into baked goods
