How does NYC still have hundreds of high-rise projects in working condition, while Chicago’s large complexes were wrecked by their residents and eventually demolished? Robert Taylor, Stateway, Rockwell Gardens, Horner, Cabrini-Green, etc. Is it the population pressure in NYC, or do they just have a better class of tenant?

Hi Christian. Not just Chicago. All major usa cities with high rise housing projects did the same thing except NYC. Philadelphia, Newark, NJ, St. Louis, Baltimore etc. All those cities had large housing projects like you see in NYC today. I wouldn’t say they have a better stock of tenants but indeed NYCHA and more federal funds keep these projects in better condition than any or most major U.S. cities.

I've only been to Brooklyn once in my life, (2006) but there seems to be some pretty nice cars parked along those streets.

NYC slum areas always look 500% better than those in Philly, Baltimore, Chicago etc. Few burned out, grafitti painted ruins, no street gangs lounging around, the shops are open. This area looks like any of 30 other neighborhoods in nyc.

I don't see the danger. I grew in East Williamsburg and had childhood friends move to Brownsville and I never had a problem. What makes it dangerous? You only see black people walking around? Not true.

You became "used" to living in those conditions... it's to late to change...

It was really bad back in the 70s thru the 90s but I hear it has changed a lot and has been decent for the past maybe 10 years.

You have a very low standard of living.. 90% of these people are on section 8 housing. 65% also on welfare. Crime in NY is the highest ever.
People do not leave their home after sun down. 65% of cars will be broken into every year.. "Looks Good" .
