    I have owned both of these motorcycles.
    First I bought the Kawasaki....Sooooo many problems, Still getting recall notices.
    Sold it.
    Then bought the BMW....The BMW is a much better bike.
    I wanted to believe in the Kawasaki but it was just a pain for problems.
    To say they are similar bikes would suggest to me you have not owned both of these motorcycles!

      I've also owned both. 2 kawi's for price of one s1000rr haha only issue I've had was with the CCT which was replaced with a manual. The extra money was a lot of trackdays and tires =D

    The finger got detached during a wicked racing highside. It compromised my guitar playing, but it cut down my fingernail clipping time by 10%!

    My dad and his bud had these bikes and traded for about 3 weeks. They both agree that the ZX10 had better handling and is easier to get along with but the BMW is focused and better at feeling and being a liter bike overall. Both REALLY excellent though.

    Surly the ZX-10 is the winner if it performs identically for 2/3 of the price?

      Here in germany the new 2015 s1000rr is only 500€ more than the 2015 zx10r. The 2014 s1000rr was even cheaper than the kawa. I dont know how the prices in the US are but in Germany theres just a slight difference.

      Skare147 its probably cheaper in germany because they dont have to pay that much for exporting and importing fees and taxes aswell as insurance.

    Great review, one of the better I've seem from you guys. Those are two fantastic bikes, I don't think I could choose between them either. One question though, how did the guy in blue loose his finger? I'd assume a motorcycle accident.

    I have to agree with them. I've ridden both, hard!... and they are both very impressive! My brother has the new zx10r and get to ride it all the time...I can tell you, ironically the zx10r is a little bit more refined, and stable thru the turns but the bmw has a tad bit more midrange power edge. However, both are capable of GODS amount of power if you upgrade...or if you have the ca$h!!!

    If this is a Track Ride then I'am an astronaut!
    The words are cheap .We running the s1000RR on the streets also at the track days.
    Don't cry kids maybe someday you gonna have the option to drive a better bike cause the japanese are in the classroom.......until then a s1000RR will be always in front of your eyes.
    At last when the time gonna come to sell your bike , don't cry if you gonna sell it for half the money that you paid.

    Sound and emissions require more restrictive exhaust system in the US. Europe has different regulations so the system is less restrictive giving more HP than the US version.
    Also the ECU is set different so the bike makes less, simple Exhaust upgrade and ECU flash makes the difference, which is what most riders do anyhow. CA models are even more restricted because they have a charcoal canister in the pipe as well. Just ditch it and you get the ponies back.

    As to power, purely power, BMW remains still the number one. It got 189 HP against 178 HP from ZX 10R (Power on the rear wheel) according to Motociclismo Magazine (2011 Master Bike, Brazil's May edition)...

    Stick to MCN review or Motorcycle USA for descriptions of these motorcycles. I don't think they give an in depth review to give a proper description here

    Stop your bickering. The first inline four in a bike was a Larurin & Klement, built in 1904. So they all copied the Austrians. Thank you for your attention, goodbye.

    Both bikes are great. Only reason i'm getting a BMW is the price for me is much better and the BMW have nothing but good news, No recalls!

  • @1997TL1000
    @1997TL1000 12 років тому +1

    I totally agree, I was looking at the Red White and Blue Race colors $21,500 with the pipe, windscreen and Tail cowl and tax out the door. 2012 ZX10 $16,000 with extended warranty maintenance package tax prep doc out the door. $5,500 dollar diff and if I take off the extra warranty and maintenance package which the BMW did not have that jumps to an $8,000 dollar difference. Now the Double RR is a nice bike but $8K worth? I'll save the green and get some carbon wheels and upgrades! sorry BMW!

    BMW wants the front to look asymmetrical. That's a technical styling nod to their design teams over the years which produced bikes that ran smoother and more reliably but had to be slightly asymmetrical by design. It's a conscious decision by BMW. I don't love it or dislike it. I accept it as their individual styling choice and it gives them brand distinction. Japanese bikes are very well made (like their cars) but as everyone knows they're dull and generic looking too (just like their cars)

  • @BMWRWankers
    @BMWRWankers 11 років тому

    BMW has the same model in the USA and Europe, every one else has different models for both markets as different noise rules apply. Figure that out? The BMW does not have a RAM air intake system, so the Kawasaki has the most efficent RAM system every devloped, a 163hp Kawasaki has the same dynamic performance as a 174hp BMW and it won't breakdown. Seen too many horror stories of BMW;s with major engine problem failures. The ECU on the BMW can be upgraded with and optional HP Power Boost Kit

    I think I'm gonna see a breathtaking comparison race, or some great overtaking in HD, but what I've got is just two people talking. Totally disappointed, since the internet connection is very low in my place, buffering video is really "precious", and I'm not expecting something like this... *sigh*

    I dont really agree with this review lol. Reason being is because i've got the august issue of these bikes. The bike of the year was that rsv4. Which I thought was bs but it was number one. The zx10 came in second and this bmw came in third. Based on what i read, the ninja power was better. They didnt really have any negative thing to say about it either. The bike pushed out way more hp than what they talking about in this vid. On the street, the 10 killed the bmw. bmw system was a bit better

    man the BMW front is such an eye sore. what were they thinking? if it's a person, it's a cross-eyed person. looks like an uncomplete design or they weren't sure what they want so they mix and match.

    I admit the "review" wasn't very good, but why the hell do you want a race? You think the difference in these bikes is so great that a "race" wouldn't just come down to rider skill? There's not a guy in this video that can ride either bike at 100% of its capability.

    Vain, but I'd totally take the Kawasaki purely for the non-hideous headlights. I wish BMW would make the headlights modular so people could choose themselves if they want their bike to look like Sloth from the Goonies or not.
