I'm so sad you didn't love this one. This was a love at first sniff for me personally. I don't think it's overly sweet on my skin. I don't really get lemon, i get orange and vanilla and It's almost a beachy scent to me, and the bottle is just Gorgeous!

Me too I love it. I just got a 100ml bottle for half price at a discounter and I’m so excited. I was almost ready to buy it just for the bottle alone, but luckily I tried it and actually really loved the scent.

I completely agree I don’t love lemon or citrus fragrances and I smelled it in store and didn’t hate it but definitely didn’t like it either…these companies need to stop raising prices it makes me so mad they’re making record profits and the cost to make perfume versus what they were already charging was ridiculous enough let alone raising it more.
I totally agree that the opening is tough. Luckily, on my skin it dries down to the most DELISH fragrance for me. It's so so so beautiful and I ended up with the 100ml. I think this one will largely depend on skin chemistry.

Haha I was hoping you would love it 🥲😝 but your nose isn’t broken.. this is what’s fun about fragrance, we can all pick up different things and we have to call it how we smell it 😋 I do see what you mean with the opening because my favorite part of this scent is also the dry down because the vanilla takes over on my skin. Loved your review! 🥰 you might like Lira more because Lira in my opinion has more depth and more florals coming through so maybe you can try a sample and see if you prefer that one. First release I had to have right away!!! I'm in love!! Thankfully I don't get the artificial lemon but a yummy vanilla with hints of something else!! Def could be a daily grab!! So sad u didn't love it!!
As a gourmand lover I love this scent. I love lemon tart type of smell. So candied lemon, lemon with sugar or lemon with caramel are so fab to me. There are some gourmand lemon fragrances in niche category and I promise U thst if u would try them… devotion is not THAT sweet. But obviously I can understand your opinion

I will definitely say if you’re not a fan of sour candy, then you definitely won’t like this perfume. I personally love it, but I also eat sour candy on the daily and prefer it over sweet candies like caramel and chocolate. To me, this smells like an creamy orange vanilla cake with lemon icing drizzle. But every now and then this pop of sour patch kids comes out when I’m wearing it throughout the day. 🤓

I got a sample card in the Ulta magazine, fell in love and I ran to Ulta next day to buy it. When I first sprayed it, I was terrified because that orange blossom was waayy too strong and I thought it wasn’t going to smell the same . But as soon as it dried down a bit, it was what I wanted! It smells so amazing to me. Definitely not a blind buy, though!

When I first sprayed it all I could smell was oranges, later on once it’d dried down it smelled like creamy peaches and I loved it more than first sniff ❤
I first smelled this perfume yesterday and bought it the same day. It’s delicious to me, very interesting and sweet. It smells exactly like Kissing by Kilian. After a few hours the candied citrus note settles down a bit and you get a very warm and sweet scent ❤
I smelled it at Ulta last week and I wasn’t a big fan. I sprayed on my hand and tried to let it settle but it just never settled. It was so screechy. And I adore lemon stuff. I’m wearing Lira today. So much better. 🍋🍬

Devotion is like a lemon meringue pie on my skin. The fragrance notes are in perfect harmony. Very soft on my skin and not artificial at all. But on the seller's skin, the smell was different. A bit like how you yourself described the smell. So these are the chemistry and dna stuff. Although Burberry's Goddess has stolen my heart, Devotion is delicious.
I had to try this scent because I do love lemon! I love BBW Iced Lemon Pound Cake. The longer it’s on your skin, the lemon fades and the vanilla on your skin is yummy and it lasts for hours. I couldn’t stop smelling my hand and my wrist and it lasted through multiple hand washings. You might change your mind about it later but if you decide to sell it, I’ll definitely look out for it!
I really like this one start to finish. The dry down is so good. And I feel as it sits it’s only going to get better. So sorry it didn’t work out for you. But hey that’s the nature of the game. TFS your thoughts!!

Ok first off I ended up buying the 3.4 oz bottle…agree with you on the opening…as when I first sprayed and sniffed it on my wrist I turned my nose up cuz to me it stunk…major…but…then it turned around by the time I got home I was getting compliments, and I sniffed my wrists again, and I was in heaven…the dry down turns into this warm creamy boozy ambery vanilla scent which is warm and inviting and I can still smell it tonight…It is delish…so for 10-15 mins avoid the skank smell…then just breathe it in, cuz it does a 360° & it’s gorgeous and that’s the bottom line, as it’s the scent that stays with you! That’s what you’re paying for…not that heady lemony scent at the beginning! It has stayed with me longer than the Burberry Goddess that I thought was going to be my fave…& I do luv it, it’s just it doesn’t have the projection or the lasting ability that this one does…🤷🏻♀️
I definitely agree with the sentiment that this fragrance is doing something new with the candied lemon note, but I don’t think the scent profile itself if very unique. There are tons of lemon dessert scents out there like Akro Bake, TK Lemon Tart, 4160 Tuesdays Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits, etc. This new Devotion is cute, but not very new to me at least, which is why I’m probably not gonna add it to my collection. I agree that the hype around this one is crazy too!
Agreed. Especially after Akro bake coming out, I have no interest. I like Bake better, it’s longer lasting, & has more of a journey in my opinion.
Finally! I went to a terrible Sephora in Kohl's and I was like oh they must've did something to this fragrance because it smells awful. Then I went to a really nice Sephora and I was ready to make to make purchase if I liked it. I smelled it again and I was like this is lemon Pledgey. How is everyone on fragrantica loving this and I'm getting lemon pledge?

So sad you didn't love this!! We love so many of the same scents!! (I felt the same way you do about this one for Burberry Goddess... did not love). Absolutely love it!!! I bought the 100ml the day after I smelled it. It already has a pretty sweet dent!! Thankfully I'm not getting the lemon. Don't get super sweet but a yummy cozy vanilla on the drydown. That is where the MAGIC is!! Best 2023 release hands down!!

There are so many citrus gourmands out. At this price, I'd prefer to try the niche versions first. If you liked Vanilla 28 from Kayali, you'd like Lira. They're not the same, Lira is better, but they both have that molecule wearing experience. I personally don't like those types of fragrances, but the scent overall is nice. Lira has no tartness about it, so it's not a lemon cleaner vibe. There's also Akro Bake, Kerosene Unknown Pleasures, Sora Dora Brocéliande, and way more with an orange gourmand experience.
I love it. You have to like citrus fragrances to appreciate it. I only get the scent of a creamy lemon custard with whipped cream on top. I really don't get a synthetic scent from this one. I usually buy niche over designer because I find a lot of designer fragrances have some type of synthetic scent to it. This is why I love fragrances because everyone interprets scent differently.

Devotion smells almost spot on the same as Tutti Dolci Sweet Lemon Buttercup - one of my all time favourites from Bath&Body Works. I love it!
Don't feel bad, I didn't like it either. As soon as the sales lady sprayed it on me, I immediately cringed. She noticed right away and said "give it a while it has to grow on you" 😂 We both laughed! Once I got home, it smelled better but not my fav.
Girl me and you are the same. I HATE lemon foods but i love lemon. I was waiting for your review because you abd i love the same scents. Im glad you were honest. I believe people get paid for saying perfumes are good when they arent.
You are def not the only one. I have the very same opinion: kind of lemon candy, kind of cleaning product, overall not something I enjoy at all! And I usually love sweet scents.

I did not like this perfume. On my skin it smelled like lemon cleaner and faded super quickly.

It is different, as soon as I sprayed this juice I kept on sniffing myself the whole 24 hours, it smells like a lemon, whipped cream, vanilla, birthday cake. This is very very long lasting ❤❤❤

How good does Lira perform? Does it have weak projection? Do Lira last long? These are the con's to Lira that's been floating around the internet. I've been trying to decide is Lira worth getting.

I love lemonade, but I'm also not into most lemon scented things due to some bad cleaning experiences with lemon scented products (which is my own fault). I can 100% understand the preference you have :)
I smelled it in store today and was super disappointed about how powdery it was. However, the new Valentino pink pp fragrance was everything I hoped devotion would be. I hate how ridiculous the price is though.
I agreed 💯 with your review/opinion ! I tried it and hated that fake synthetic lemon candy opening 😮 it screams cheap and childish to me. I don’t want to smell like lemon cake walking around. I don’t get the hype at all

Totally agree. It was too sweet and strong for me. This is a smell I want in my desserts and not my skin. But I wouldn't mind smelling it on someone else passing by. On me it lasted even after I showered so the longevity in this one is a plus for those who liked it. I do have to say it is kinda addictive to smell, I kept smelling my arm throughout the day even though I didn't like it.

Ksenja, I think you should still try a decant of Lira if you haven't already. To me, there's more to that fragrance than Devotion. While I didn't hate Devotion I didn't love it either🤷🏽♀️ I love Lira though!
Another perfume creator here on UA-cam said “You and I are both right”. In other words, if you think it stinks and hate it, and I think it’s the smell of angels or viceversa-we are both right. Perfume is a 100% subjective experience. So don’t feel bad you aren’t a part of the masses. C’est la vie 🤷🏻♀️
I like it I don’t really get the lemon I get the orange and it reminds me of B&BW Orange Vanilla Twist and I think it would layer good with Mont Blanc Signature as well as some others Thanks for sharing your opinion 👍🏾😊
Yes I tried this combo today after Not Another Perfume Channel review and she mentioned it. Loved the combo and lasted all day. I also added iced lemon poundcake on the top before I left for work.
I have heard some opinions that it is similar to Lira but the lemon is more zesty (not sour:) even though candied and that the orange blossom brings something new slightly refreshing comparing to Litra :) to me it sounds great !
I love this perfume. It smell like lemon muffins, which is my favourite pastry. So sweet and delish.
I feel you are spot on. To me this starts off as like some sorta lemon floor cleaner, then goes to Bath and Body Kitchen Lemon, and then finally the dry down is pretty. I really wanted to love it but I just can’t. Maybe on someone else it’s gorgeous.
I kinda feel this way about BR 540. I just don't get it or the extrait version - nothing about them do I like.
I didn't really like Devotion either... like you said, the notes together just don't work for me.
However, Devotion is COMPLETELY different from Lira. The only similarity is that they both have citrus notes. Lira literally smells like a lemon cake.

I think it’s totally normal to not like a perfume that has a huge fan base. I pick up ginger, some sort of spiced lemon. It’s not particularly strong, but on my skin is gets pretty creamy. It’s not worth the price point but it’s a good/different release from them. Prada paradoxe had a huge hype around it and I can’t stand it. It smells like every other perfume release.
You and I feel the same about artificial fruits. It's especially prominent in peach and banana for me. You might like pairing vanilla oil and Love's Fresh Lemon. Super affordable, simple and refreshing.

To preface...I have over 300 fragrances... Backup bottles rarely happen for me...I bought a backup of this after one wearing... It's amazing...I just wish it had beast performance😢
I have a travel size coming in today and I’m pretty excited about it. I just got the full size and a travel size of Goddess, which I love! There’s so many new fragrances coming out, my wallet can’t keep up. The KayAli Oud collection alone was A LOT!
I did go to Sephora and quickly sprayed D&G Devotion and I have to say I was not into the opening. I kept my piece of paper I sprayed it on and set it in my car. About five minutes later I kept smelling something sweet so I picked it up and was pleasantly surprised by how much softer it was. I loved the dry down but I haven’t tried it on skin and that’s going to be the real test. Hopefully, I enjoy the dry down on my skin. I may try layering it with Iced Lemon Poundcake.
I smelled this at airport a while ago and got excited…then disappointed. And I LOVE lemon.
I didn't like it either :( It reminds me of Lush bath bombs with the opening and I'd prefer that scent to be kept for the bath. Not a bad scent, but not what I want in a perfume
The opening gives me scented candle vibes but that dry down is absolutely amazing AND the longevity was 7 ish hours which is a win. Not sure if it’s worth keeping - still undecided

I smelled it last week, and was underwhelmed. I love the name and bottle of the perfume, and I was hoping to love it, but walked out of Ulta without it. I was hoping it would smell like a lemon version of Lolitaland by Lolita Lempicka, but it doesn't. I'm just going to stick with Lolitaland, which I LOVE!

I thought I was the only one too. It has a kitchen lemon opening and then dries down to something similar to the dolce garden perfume. Both smells that I detest.

I go back and forth on this one. Bought the travel size yesterday and have worn it both last night and today. Lasting power and sillage seem impressive for designer for sure. Giving LVDBS vibes to me, not the biggest fan of citrus mixed with orange blossom as it comes off cleanerish to my nose. Dry down is fluffy but a powdery almost smarties candies or lucky charms marshmallow vibes. 💯 not gooey fluffy. Sometimes this smells good to me and I think I’ll buy a full bottle but I’m holding off for now. I think I’m also upset that I don’t love it like everyone else.

Lol this reminds me of when I smelt Akro Bake and I was like.... errr why does everyone love this?! I get Lemsip! An absolute aroma-chemical mess to me but people LOOOVE Bake! Looking forward to smelling Devotion but it's exclusive to Harrods in the UK so I'll have to wait for it to arrive in the other department stores!

My top notes on my bottle are candied citrus not candied lemon?!? I do not get lemon at all!! I get a dreamy Creamsicle scent!! I Absolutley Love it paired with my orange Creamsicle lotion!! It lasts all day on my skin and clothes!!🥰

Artificial peach and lemon scent with gourmand smell horrible to me. But I like fresh lemon scent like hand soap. Not to spray in my body. So I understand.
This one doesnt last at all and it doesnt smell good to me nor does it smell gourmand. Sugary water with a hint of some old lemon.
Tested it many many times in store and it never gave what everyone was saying it was giving. I am absolutely a fan of the light blue intense but this one is not worth my coin.
Also really wanted to love dylan purple but that ones also gone in 30 minutes.
So sad. Wanted to love it.
I have a suspicion that this might smell close to an Arabic perfume oil (super duper affordable) Al-rehab's soft. That smells like lemon pound cake. It's sweet lemony and a little creamy-ish. I think you would like it better. Even that is considered to be a dupe of lira.
Do give it a go whenever you're shopping for perfumes next. It shouldn't cost you more than a couple of bucks.

I think it’s an easy reach, but it’s not mind blowing. I already had Lira and Bake so I definitely didn’t need this, but the bottle is pretty and I don’t feel bad using up this bottle so I can reserve my Lira & Bake 😂💖
I thought I wouldn’t like lira either but I got a sample and the scent is addictive to me! You should smell a sample or try the oakcha dupe (i’m planning on getting the oakcha dupe bc lira is too expensive 😅)
This smelled like a Lush fragrance to me…I can’t remember which one since it’s been a long time since I’ve been to a Lush but I smelled this D&G scent in store and it brought me right back to college when I was obsessed with their bath bombs lol
I love sweet scents but this felt a little too sweet. But I tested it a couple days ago, sprayed it once on my arm it was like 3pm and I could still still smell the vanilla note on my arm the next day 😲 that blew me away so I want to try it out again.

I just tried it in store & wanted to see how I felt but then smelled it on my shirt the next day and I’m ordering it today for the perfume sale.
I smelled it at sephora and initially didnt like it at all and neither did my husband. When i got home and smelled the card again i thought "hm that actually smells ok" and I had my husband smell it again and he said "oh what is that? It smells good!" He didn't believe me at first that is was the same scent. I love lemons but typically dont like lemon candy or scents either but i did like the dry down on this. Im going to buy the small 1 oz bottle next week.

I agree on this, I don’t love this one. I was shocked as I LOVE lemon desserts, but something about this just is not doing it for me. BUT the first time I wore it, my husband complimented it and he never notices my fragrances. Also got some compliments from strangers on it. I’m keeping it for that reason because it seems others like it on me, but it’s not my favorite unfortunately

I will say dominant lemon scents can go either way (especially in the beginning). I didn’t love Soft by Al Rehab right away. It made me think of cleaning products in the opening when I first got it. After sitting for a couple months I ended up really liking it. It’s a nice lemony pink sugar smell.
I’m not a fan of Under the Lemon Tree by Replica. That was straight cleaning products to me (& not even the good kind). I had to wash it off.
However, I do love Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue.
I still want to get my hands on Lira, and give it a sniff. I heard the longevity & projection is lacking though.
I guess I’ll add this new one to my smell list as well. 😌

I am only going by a tester strip I did in Ulta a few days ago, but I had the same reaction. Something at the opening offended me. Interestingly, after a LONG time of dry down on the strip I started to like it. I'm guessing that's because vanilla is the only note left now. I need to get a sample to test it properly & on skin, not paper, because it is still intriguing me for some reason.🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
I don’t know why some reviewers including yourself here on YT are saying that there are only 3 notes because according to Fragrantica, there are another 2 notes in the middle - panacotta & rum. Maybe that’s the “cleaning product” smell that you’re getting - it could be the rum mixed with the orange blossom

This is a near similar clone to Zara Sweet Pastry to be honest. Unique to me. BUT TRUST ME……let is sit for a couple weeks!!!!!! For me it was exactly like when I got Kayali Vanilla 28. You need to let it sit!

I just returned this one. I tried to like this, but there is just something in there especially in the opening that I just cannot get past. I decided that I have too many great perfumes that I love to keep one that I really don’t love. The bottle is beautiful though!!
Oh no! I am so interested to smell this and almost blind bought it because of the spectacular reviews 😂. I have a 30 ml of Lira for sometime now. Sadly i keep on smelling that bugs spray scent especially at the opening. I let it macerate but still the same. I have it more than a year now. Thanks for this review. Definitely won't blind buy it. But I will still try to smell it in stores to double check😉😊
