Dwan's first scene is the best scene (and perhaps only good scene) in the movie. How luminous, effervescent, and charismatic she is in this moment. No idea what happened with the rest of the movie but this one scene is dynamite--thanks to Lange.
They should have taken the ship further out to sea, very silly to think the natives would not be more interested after the hostility they presented so quickly

King was ugly in this version of the movie. He didn’t look that natural but the whole story was very different and beautiful. Jessica Lange was perfect for the role.
