Ray lewis is original raven ed reed was drafted in the 2002 nfl draft. Ed reed and ray lewis both went to the university of miami. They played together until the ravens went to the superbowl. Ed reed went on to play for the jets and texans before his retirement.
Gotta had T Sizzle (Terrell Suggs) to the mix to, another beast of a defensive player they had Life long patriots fan here, but have always love the Baltimore style of play
For a decade the Ravens were one of if not the top rated defenses in the league. That squad made the Ravens one of my favorite teams to follow no matter who they played.
@@larryparr2799 Yea man I feel you on that. Its so sad they just never had a real offense during that time. If they had a top 10 offense with that defense, they would have won 3-4 no problem.
Marlon Humphrey is another Raven you should watch. He straight punches the ball out of receivers hand on a constant basis, leads the league in forced fumbles
As I am a Ravens fan, I know alot of players that played for us, such as Rod Woodson, Deion Sanders, Chris McAlister, and Haloti Ngata, Terrel Suggs. Duane Starks, Peter Boulware, etc
I personally think Ed Reed is better then Sean Taylor just because we didn’t see enough of Sean Taylor, Ed Reed was dominant for so many years, RIP Sean Taylor and if he had been in the NFL for many years they would be very close imo.
I miss both Ed and Ray. Wish we had them today. We got spoiled watching those 2 legends. I'm glad this video showed how Ed Reed was very good at blocking kicks early on in his career. People forget that. I'm glad he finally won that title in 2012. By that point his wheels had almost gone flat and it was awesome that it was Ed who made that play on kapernick to seal the deal. When he charged him it forced him to throw the ball b4 he wanted to.
I saw nearly every game he played. For like a decade he averaged it seemed nearly 8-9 interceptions a year. It was crazy. He was always in the right place at the right time. As a Ravens fan we got excited every single time the announcer said a pass was down the middle of the field. We knew Ed Reed was gonna be there to pick it off. He finally won a Super Bowl in 2012 when he was at the end of his career. He was the best safety to ever play. He was just as good if not better than Ray Lewis.
Not only did Ray Lewis and Ed Reed played together we also had Terrell Suggs on that defense. 3 absolute monsters the 2012 Ravens defense was the best defense in NFL history in my opinion
Terrell Suggs for the ravens was also a beast he went to the highschool I go to now and my high school coaches told me they knew he would be a hall of famer his freshman year
Love this vid. Yes, played with Ray for I think 11 seasons. I'm from Baltimore and the most insane play was that 109 yard int return for a TD against Philadelphia. Most insane thing I saw live in person. Two side notes about that game. First, they benched Donovan McNabb and put Cobb in who got picked off by Reed and secondly, I found it hilarious that all the Eagles fans sitting around me during the game criticized Andy Reid not stop about how bad a head coach he is. He might of made a mistake benching McNabb but he is turning out to be one of the best head coaches of all time. The reason they didn't win more was the offense for years was atrocious.
Another Raven great that you should check out is Jamal Lewis. He didn't have the longest career, and a knee injury derailed a couple of his prime playing years, but he was a 250 pound back who ran a 4.3 40yd dash. The dude was a monster, and had one of the greatest single seasons for a running back in history.
Yes, they played together. At that time the Ravens had the best defense in the league. That's what Baltimore was known for. In many, many games, the defense scored more points then the offense. Absolutely dominant! Check out Terrell Suggs, who was also part of that defense.
Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Halotai Ngata, Peter Boulware, Cris McAllister, Tony sirgusa, samauri role, Bernard Pollard aka the hardest hitter ever. Ravens have had the best defenses for a long time. And Ed and Ray played together for the majority of each other's career. They were THE most feared tandem. Haunted QBs nightmares.
As a pretty young Ravens fans I can only imagine how dominant they would’ve been if they had an above average QB all those years before Joe Flacco. Had some decent weapons too, Todd Heap, Derrick Mason
Haloti Ngata was a fucking beast on the Dline seen him manhandle 2 guys every snap with ease. I fucks wit the big men who put in work guess because I’m a packers fan ie Gilbert brown 💪🏾
You gotta do a review on Ronnie "The Playmaker" Lott, dude was a beast. He played for the 49ers, Raiders, and the Jets. 3 rings, and broke plenty of records throughout his 14 years in the league.
Terrell Suggs was a beast too. They all played on the same team at one point. The Ravens are also notorious for have great defense, including their legendary 2000 defense.
You gotta do the Seattle Seahawks defensive secondary. They had that enforcer Kam Chancellor, AKA Bam Bam. Earl Thomas which is like a baby Ed reed, and one of the biggest trash talker, but highly educated Richard Sherman. They each have their own respectable and great highlight reel, but together they were known as "The legion of boom"
Reed wasn’t on the 2001 super bowl team. He came in the league in 2002. But him and ray won the super bowl in 2013. As a ravens fan and someone from Baltimore I can tell you that Ed is the best to ever do it at that position.
Shawn Taylor is who you are thinking about. He was Ed Reeds backup at the U. Reed and Lewis were on the Ravens together Reed missed the first superbowl but they played together on the second superbowl
Ed Reed holds the record for the longest interception return in history, and the most career interception return yards. He's also the only player in history to score a TD on a fumble recovery, interception return, blocked punt and punt return. The man just had a nose for the endzone. THE. BEST. SAFETY. EVER.
Ray and Ed were the dream pair, I loved watching them together...and the rest of the team completed them. Suggs, Pollard, Rice, McPhee, Yanda, Smith, McAllister...the list goes on. They played freaking beautifully together. I was ready for someone to get carted off the field each game
Growing up a ravens fan my whole life watching Ray (best inside LB ever) and Ed (best safety ever) was honestly incredible as someone who loves the game
They all played at Miami but only Taylor and Reed played together 2001 Taylor’s freshman year when Miami won the national championship. Ray Lewis was drafted in 96 and Ed Reed joined Miami the next season 97 as a red shirt.
Wow your channel is blowing up, honestly think you’ll definitely hit 10k by June. Also react to Rob Gronkowski or Brady they’re playing in Tampa right now. I’d recommend watching game highlights occasionally as well.
Yes sir. They were both on the same team. They were life time ravens together. Ed played one year after the super bowl for a different team, but I hardly count that lol
Yes, they played together for a few years. They also had Terrell Suggs too. You should do a video on him too. 6:00, I was at that game, we went nuts when he scored on that pick.
That is why he always tried to take the ball to the end zone. Ray lewis made the joke that at Miami the coach told them to take it to the house no matter where they were on the field
That Ravens defense is arguable the greatest defense of alltime. Up there with the 1985 Bears defense. Regarding Sean Taylor, he never had the chance to reach the Ed Reed level but many believed he would have if he didn’t get murdered. Sean would have def been an alltime great.
While Ed Reed and Ray Lewis won a SB together in 2012, the best Ravens defense (and constantly in the argument for best all time) was 2000, before they added Reed in '02 (Lewis was on the 2000 squad). So the possible best defense of all time *added* Ed Reed in 2002.
The redskins guy your looking for is Sean Taylor. Honestly, if Sean was still alive he would be up there. However, the 2 had very different play styles imo. Sean Taylor was a thumper who really liked to tackle, but i never saw the interceptions like how Reed did it. I could see Taylor play as a strong safety or as an undersized linebacker in today's NFL. Ed Reed was what we call a "ball hawk". He's famous for his turnovers and actually played a little bit of wide receiver in college. What I'm getting at is it would be hard to compare because they have 2 different play styles. Ed Reed is the best free safety of all time though.
Reed is the GOAT! I think Sean Taylor had the potential to be the best. Crazy thing is they played college football together for the Miami Hurricanes. Sean Taylor was Ed Reeds protigé
6:14 this clip in its entirety is way funnier. The coach was so mad at Ed for taking it out, crying for him to go down in the end zone. It then turns to absolute hype as he gets free for the TD. So much history here man. Making me sad. Miss them dudes.
Ed Reed was THE greatest safety of all time. Sean Taylor might have hit hard than him, but his pure ability to make things in the run AND pass game made him the greatest. Dawkins and Polamalu are two other greats at the safety position, but I think Reed still has the edge.
