Excellent video. Your video made the installation so simple that if my boxer had opposable thumbs, he could have done the install. And I did have the bracket on my 2023 F-150 tailgate. The bracket removal was shown in the instructions that came in the package (the instructions may be more recent than yours, I ordered the kit in November 2023).

Great video. Just installed this kit on my 2023 F150. I slowly closed the tailgate, and that black tie down hit on the tailgate shock. I figured the black piece didn't really do anything for tailgate functionality. But before I removed it, I went to UA-cam and saw your video. So now I put that black piece in a cloth behind the seat. Thanks for your clarification. Because instructions said nothing about the bracket.

Couldn’t you also raise the tailgate up a bit to install the top ball mount of the gas cylinder instead of pulling it out by hand ?

It absolutely should. Just skip to the end of the video and take a look at the bracket locations if you want to make sure but I’m 99% sure the 21-22 have the exact same tailgate set ups.

I installed one on my 03 F150 for my 5’-1” wife. Our tailgate is much heavier and when it came down it was a lot for her. So for safety I guess.
