My dad and I made an outdoor aviary in September last year. It has double doors - for extra safety, and a load of nice natural perches and toys :) I was first nervous about how the budgies would adjust, since most of them were timid, especially Bluey. Bluey was a runt as a chick and he is half the size of the other budgies. But he fits in perfectly :) H gets pretty nervous sometimes, but, to my surprise, he, and all the other budgies, got used to the aviary soo quickly. In autumn we made a ventilated warm large box for them in there for when they were cold in the day, and we would put them in there at night. I was, and still am very anxious about thunderstorms and how they would cope, but they've been through a great deal in the past pretty well. My main fear is predators. Cats wonder into our garden at night (But thankfully they are fairly bad at hunting, and are rather fed by their owners lots) And we've got a little rascal doggo. A while ago a sparrowhawk actually came up to the aviary, hoping for a snack, but the double-wire proved well. (Though I hope the sparrowhawk still gets enough meals, but not any of the precious birdies) One ongoing problem is rodents. A rat actually once broke in and got one of my budgies, Lewie. She was sadly killed by the rats and I only found out later that day. Mice come in lots, now, and nothing seems to be working. I'm looking into getting some concrete for the floor, and possibly putting something comfortable over for the budgies. But I'll have to put them back in their indoor aviary for that and they wont be so happy. Other than that, I really like the idea! Gives more space for the budgies, and gives them a taste of the outside :) So happy you made one too. Now, for me it's rodent-preventing time XD Also, your channel has inspired me so much. Two years ago, when I first got two budgies, Bluey and Goldey, I had them in a tiny cage. I did my research, and knew it wasn't enough at the start. It was just convincing my parents to get a bigger cage that was the problem. I showed them your channel, which taught them too, and eventually we got a nice indoor avairy. It used to be home to african greys who unfortuantely passed, so I cleaned it for hours every day until we were sure it was safe for the budgies. It was good, but I kept feeling the urge for something more for them. Something... bigger... So, after a ton of planning, we built our outdoor aviary, which I'm still ever so proud of today.# Edit: I have almost 30 budgies today, hence the breeding. We're selling the babies to good homes now they're old enough.
I can confirm, sunlight makes a world of difference on their feathers! Plus it's really good for their mental health, which obviously can directly affect their physical health :)
very good work . I think it is better to watch the sky and nature. But I fear them from other animals. I hope the house is strong enough to repel the attacks. Thanks for the sharing . I hope you are well and so are all your birds
I wanna thank u for inspiring me to have pet budgies and let me tell u,I now have 26 budgies! we ( me,mom, dad ) made a 5 feet by 7 feet aviary in front of our house and I’m happy with it love from bagladesh❤️
We have an outdoor aviary now too and my cats do exactly the same up the bars. They all had free flight in the house but since going out into an aviary it’s lovely to see their natural behaviours and they are breeding to.
My first thought was it wasn't level and no cement to secure the posts, but I love what you did. The end results is great. Love the windows. I do have a few questions though. Could you show more on what it is that you used to make the little fresh water fountain for them and is the aviary protected from the rain getting inside? Great job.
@@gamingprofi2584 If you can't find any vets that specialize in birds, do you have any zoos or bird parks in your city? Maybe you could try approaching them to get help for your bird?
I feel like one strong gust of wind will blow that over. Also, is it safe to use paint? I always wondered this, because I worry my birds will chew and eat the paint.
Your new aviary is SO beautiful and I also love your garden - It is a wonderful place! Your birds are so lucky! Thank you so much for this great video, Alen ❤🐦🌞🌷🌹🍓🌼🌺⚘🐈⬛
It's all sooooo gorgeous! The cute and curious, hungry, hungry kitty 😺 made me laugh. He probably said, "Mmmm, yummy, dinner." Lol I'm considering making a small aviary in a corner inside my home.
Wow you are quite talented at many things. 👏 very impressive man! A family man too. How beautiful your family is including the adorable hedgehog! The buildings are beautiful and your country is GORGEOUS 😍 ❤️ Yoyr yard is amazing!
It's amazing but just a suggestion of you can install some small nest in it aswell so they can stay safe from weather and can lay eggs in it too. But In general its amazing how u build it. BRAVO
great first effort. One item you should consider is Rats. Mice and Snakes. I have a plan to line the inside of my structure with mouse mesh as mice can get thru the budgie mesh. Mice / Rats can easily eat through the wood you have used on the walls. Do you get frost where you live ?. I used to put a tarp over the mesh during winter but now have green house plastic on removable frames that I screw on during winter to protect against frost and cold.
Great job ! Time will tell if its animal and weather resitant, and should there be any defects or other issues, I am convinced that you will solve them. So meantime i wish you all the luck and fun with the birds and the aviary! Greetz from Belgium !
Heyy I love this aviary! But I have one concern and it's having so many smooth perches the birds could get bumble foot from it so I would recommend you get natural perches to help with that
And perches with a variety of widths, to help keep the foot structure healthy. But he did mention about getting natural apple-wood perches for them, so maybe once those are available? Maybe it is not the time of year to harvest from the apple trees (think he might have to wait until they start going dormant, in the winter-time, to avoid harming the trees before he starts cutting branches off them? My only apple tree is very small and young, still, so I have not had to prune it yet.
Very beautiful , I often wanted to build one at the garden , but I have lost two pidgeons to a fox some years ago . You didn't let all outside ? Snowflake and Angel and the new babybudgie ?
I think we all know that already but yeah that true I love his budges I have two budges today my neighbors birds aka budges died only one tho I saved one of their live they were so weak bc the husband didn't do there food and water I said I wanted to look at there birds I saw the yellow in the food bowl there was only birds foods dust the other one it was shaking and it was like it looked like friend wake up he looked so sad and lonely again thank god I saved one before it died it didn't have food or water for three days but the husband didn't say anything the poor thing couldn't even eat it was so weak I care too much about my birds and other birds I was so sad... 😭😭😵🧚♂️🤧😢
That's so spacious and cute! This Aviary looks too difficult and complex. Btw, Mila is sooo cute! Tom is definitely a big threat to budgies. Thank u so much for naming him "COCO". 👏🤍 Lots of support from India.
Nice aviary! But I would make some modifications for safety and the health of the bird: 1. On every corner starting from the ceiling place a 4-6” wire cloth around the aviary where your budgies/cocktail will gnaw or chew the corner because sooner or later they will create a hole and escape. Budgies/cockies are notorious chewers 2. The shelter or covered part should have a partial wall from the top about 3 feet with peep holes for the birds to go in and out to block draft or wind into the shelter that could stress the birds. 3. Install vent holes on the top of the shelter on each end to create a draft for hot air to escape in the summer Enjoy they they are beautiful!

My budgies cage is outside he can easily escape
I love the cage, so spacious and fun for the birds! Also on a side note, I think one of your yellow budgies have a blood feather? Hope they're ok!
Ok thanks
I like but worry about their safety outside. They are so vulnerable.

Hi! I've been wondering about how much does it cost to build an aviary? I want to know the difference in money in buying one or building one yourself.
@@quadri136 I'm not sure about exact prices, but building one is roughly cheaper :)
I really don't understand how people let their "pet cats" wander outside and killing the wildlife. All councils should ban and fine these people
