- Welcome to Steam Sequence, a series where I attempt to play and review as many Steam games in alphabetical order as possible to sort the Trash from the Treasure.
This means that I'm playing through all the terrible games so that you don't have to. Please enjoy my suffering.
This episode features:

In case you're wondering, Steam organizes games starting with punctuation first, then numbers, and then the actual alphabet. It may be some time before I reach the letter "A" on my journey!

I discovered this series through the racist Alamo game. I love this, and I wish you luck in seeing how far you'll get through this gauntlet of a project.
Thank you for the support! I just hope it's as entertaining to others as it is to me!
Lol. I also randomly got the Alamo review recommended to me. Wonder why *that* one got picked up by the algorithm.
Same, the alamo video popped up on my youtube feed.
Also came from the Alamo game. Who knows why it was blessed by the algorithm.
Same
"It's arson with extra steps" is not only a great line, it's also my dinky PC trying to run any game that released post 2018
I'm glad to hear that someone appreciated that line haha
Hey, this was made by the same guy who made the Captain's edition mod for FTL: Faster than light! I played that ages ago and it was quite good, and this game looks aweseome. Gonna pick it up for sure
I had no idea! No wonder I was getting FTL vibes from it, there was more than just an influence
So that's why it looks so much like Hyperspace Dogfights, another game by the same guy.
He also made 3 other games, including a 2d metal gear V roguelike set in a gas giant with submarine mechanics (Swirl W@tch). Sleeper Games is a sleeper hit for sure

Judging by the colorful background, it’s entirely possible that you’re inside of a gas cloud, which would let flames burn
The little hover-over text for things like fuel canisters do specify “oxidizers included”, so that’s probably what allows it.
Honestly it looks really good. This journey is definitely showing off so much that would otherwise avoid spotlight.
It was a delightful find that I would have otherwise missed!
Thanks for crediting my full run video (as low effort an unedited video is) I did want to say though that you didn't quite get to all the content as once you defeat the final boss for the first time you unlock endless mode which has an extra final boss you can challenge that once you defeat unlocks "coordinate nodes" which are basically just challenge modifiers. I haven't beaten that boss yet though cause it's really difficult.
Oh my. I hadn't found anything about a super boss! In that case, I'm kind of glad I drew the line where I did, otherwise it would've been months before I got this video out.
Thanks for being cool about me using a section of your content!
Definitely a neat-looking game, worthy of being categorized as a gem. Also, I noticed how you had to use a } symbol instead of a > in the title and description, because the > and < symbols aren't allowed in those places.
Well spotted! I wasn't aware that UA-cam didn't allow them in the title or description until I went to post this video
I gotta say, seeing you able to gush about a game is so refreshing!
It's nice to have a good game to play every once in a while!
Games like these are exactly why I love this series of yours. This game is absolutely up my alley and the fact that I likely never would have discovered it is an absolute shame.
Keep up the amazing videos, Grael!
Thank you for the kind words! I just want to use this platform to shine a light on overlooked games =)
I'm loving this series. You're doing a great job. It's fun learning about games I'd otherwise never knew existed. I can see you doing very well on this platform if you keep doing what you're doing. Thanks for the quality entertainment. My only complaint... I want more videos!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm working on it!
this game looks SO cool visually i love the colors
also ive caught up on this channel after discovering it basically yesterday so yay looking forward to more videos
Wow! I'm glad you're enjoying the content!
This looks genuinely impressive. It reminds me of Cogmind.
I haven't heard of that game before, I'll be sure to check it out!
Found this series today through the !Anyway! review and watched some of the videos out of order then went back and watched the rest chronologically. I really like this concept and your videos are fun, for a new channel you've got a great style and the structure of the videos are well done. Hope to see more of these in the future.
Thank you so much for the kind words, I'm glad you're enjoying the content!
I so much wish your channel gets more popular not only because you deserve but also because you could bring attention to all those hidden gems
That's my hope! The channel isn't really about me. It's about shining a light on overlooked indie devs, and forming a community of people curious about obscure games
oh no i'm caught up!! been binging your channel since i found it, haven't been this excited over a youtube series for a while! as a long-time jam game participant and player, seeing what kind of oddball games are out there is one of my main passions, and seeing someone else so passionate about finding the gems in the rough is quite encouraging! just please dont burn yourself out on this insane project lol cheers!
Thanks for the support! I'll do my best to not go crazy, but I think we're far from the worst that Steam has to offer...
i just found the channel and i really love the idea of playing through all the games on steam in alphabetical order despite the fact that i highly doubt anyone would actually be able to play every game on steam in their entire lifetime its a cool idea, i subbed
Welcome to the channel! It's definitely an impossible task (Reaching the "A" section will take around 14 years, based on 1 game per week), but it's all about seeing how far we can get!
Just discovered this silly series and binged through all of the videos so far
Very great content, looking forward to see more!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my content, I really appreciate it!
And yes, the series is silly! But, it allows me to discover games like these that I otherwise wouldn't have known about, so I think it's worth it =)
@@Graeldon Oh yeah definitely! I am surprised how many good games there are even! I woulda expected way more trash density
Btw, have you come across any downright unplayable games yet or do you just skip em, because there's not much to say about that
@gumbarius one visual novel was unplayable due to the English translation being missing, but the game itself still functioned.
Other than that, I haven't come across a completely broken game....yet.
The algo suggested me the 3rd episode on the series. Instantly subbed for the premise alone, plus the videos are very well paced, edited, and fun to watch. Keep up the great content!
I'm glad you found the channel and are enjoying the content! Welcome!
I saw you playing this game on your Steam page after seeing one of your reviews on Steam. I started binge watching your reviews from there 😅.
I was really interested to see this come out because this seemed to be a completely different caliber of content than what you have thus far reviewed!
I appreciate you taking the time to check out my content, thank you!
This game was definitely a step up from anything else so far in terms of quality and quantity of gameplay - it was a great surprise!
I just finished binging this series and am loving it so far! Though I do feel bad for any hidden gems with names that start with Z.
Have to start the search somewhere!
Damn, it's going to take a while before you get to S and see our awesome game "Self Defense Kinda..." *Sigh*
All jokes aside, great series! The idea is awesome and riped with potential that you live up to as a new video gets released. Great Job!!
Sounds interesting! I might look into taking requests in the future if I'm able to do more than 1 video per week =)
@@Graeldon If you do decide to do that. We'd be willing to send you a steam code for the game (when it releases). A series like this will require a lot of purchasing and a lot of money lol
Happy that you found another good one. Hope the developer gets more attention from this video. I will certainly check it out!
I sincerely hope this video creates a few more sales for the dev, they put some love and care into this one for sure
This actually looks amazing and I love the concept of it. Might just wishlist it.
I love how you put that ..the just one more go mindset of roguelite😮s
My dude, you played on a Nintendo virtual boy as a child, my condolences... Amazing video by the way.
Very nice review! Like others I found this through that AWFUL alamo game but am excited to see the series progress. It's a shame one of my favorite Diamond in the rough Visual Novels is probably a few years out in the future... It starts with a W you see...
I'm glad you're enjoying the series! Unfortunately, I'll likely be well and truly dead before reaching the W section.
However, I'm considering taking game requests in the future, if the channel becomes large enough. Might be a chance then?
taking game request, selecting by random or having more people could help, maybe doing some genre specials or specific games for some days of the year, like a christmas one, you can miss a lot without even reaching A, so alfabetical orden could be broken, not at all, of course, but playing obsure games in steam could be the way to go, infravalorated games or thank to god abominations that no one know for a obvius reason, just an idea of a viewers that LOVES your content, great seeing you grow a lot every single day
@@GraeldonI hope you like the idea
This game actually looks pretty fun! Roguelite is probably the genre that I spend most of my time playing. I'm glad you've come across some gems during this project.
You know it's a good game when the mechanics are present even in the title. Well worth the price.
I think we've found our first diamond, albeit a tiny one: Pretty, expensive and really hard.
0:52 I can't wait for you to make it to Hyperspace Dogfights, Hyperspace Deck Command, and Swirl W@tch. They are all even more underrated and cool ^^
I managed to catch your livestream of this game. It was really fun to watch the full play through. Can’t wait for more streams!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, it was great fun to hang out with everyone!
Looks pretty good. Evokes fond memories of endless Asteroid games in the arcade.
I mean, it's no Snake 2 DX, but nothing is, is it? :)
I knew the game would be either an absolute banger as soon as the video didn’t come out for a week lmao
It was a challenging one, but I really enjoyed my time with it!
I love this series, but there's no way you manage to finish it unless we find a way to make humans negligibly senescent. Do you ever plan on getting other people to help go through games in this series?
I plan to either pass the channel on to another creator before I die to continue the project, or become immortal.
Either are fine.
But yes, the series concept is literally impossible, but I think that's what makes it so fun. How far will we get?
Funny enough the Virtual Boy is much more pleasant when not glued to your face :p
I love watching this series and I’m glad that In this episode you found a gem
We've honestly found way more than I was expecting
wooo! another amazing video! thank you for showing us these amazing games we might not have discovered otherwise
It is my honor to shine a light on some overlooked games!
So found you yesterday and now I have finished all videos ^^ well the streams are next then :D super enjoyable content so keep up the good work you really deserve that the channel is blowing up :D
Thank you so much for the kind words, and for taking the time to check out my channel!
The live streams are totally optional content - the games shown there will be reviewed in the Steam Sequence series. But if you want to see a bit more about a game, it'll be a good way to see it!
@@Graeldon ah I see then I will wait for the videos and not watch the streams in the future ^^ (Like VoDs more)
For anyone watching this now - they added fishing. It’s so fun and cool.
Fishing?? Can't say I was expecting that!
@@Graeldon Yep, sometimes some V-FISH will show up between waves, each with a little gimmick to nabbing them, and if you can reel them in and make contact with them, they provide a unique and fairly powerful upgrade, from passive healing that charges after some waves, to random elemental effects on harpoons, to a projectile-repelling magnetic shield, and even randomly cursing enemies every wave start to make them take extra damage and explode into an elemental hazard region on death.
really looked forward to you reviewing this one, seemed really fun from the store page and it looked like it was fun in the video too
It was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be! A lot more depth than I was expecting for sure
@@Graeldon i bit the bullet and bought it, looks like i know what im doing my entire weekend
I hope you enjoy it!
Great video! This game looks pretty fun, I would play it if it was on switch but obviously not everybody has the resources to port a game to console.
Can't wait until you play 0n0w, it's a hidden gem of a game and apparently games with numbers aren't that far from appearing.
I've seen 0N0W coming up soon in the list, and I'm intrigued by it!
"How are flames in a void?"
Rule of cool.
But I guess you could argue that the oxygen that was IN the ship doesn't immediately disappear but instead fuels the fire. Once the oxygen is used up, the fire should immediately be extinguished.
But rule of cool.
Rule of cool always trumps logic
The hover-over text on the fuel canister objects says “oxidizers included”, if I recall. Though I’m not sure this explains speed-crashing while on fire spreading it to other ships.
love this series so far, beautiful looking game!!
Cheers! This one definitely deserves some more love
Welp, I know what game I'm buying next
Those videos are great
Since there are so many games on steam, do you think you would ever make a team of people to help you make videos? Like multiple reviews from different people on one channel that goes through all the content on steam. That way you could at least make a dent with your project.
I just thougt id pop in and ask you that. This is a wonderful concept. Im current watching the elevator rougelite video. I just thought id pop in and ask you my question.
Keep up the good work. Your doing great.🎉
Look like good game.
Awesome upload!
Great game, thank you for show it on your chanel!
That "controlling battleship through your mind" is oddly familliar 🤔
If you’re wondering, the worldbuilding inspiration for the game series this is a part of is the Culture series of novels by Iain M. Banks.
great vid as always
Thanks!
this is my new favorite series on youtube
That means a lot to me, thank you! Glad you're enjoying the series!
I dont think this is a game id be very good at myself. But it definitely looks interesting! Im also interested in what other wacky or cool games you find in the ocean of stuff on steam.
Stay tuned for this weeks video then!
I was introduced to your channel with a game made to increase someone else's numbers, then you reviewed a game featuring a fictional illness, then you did a bait-and-switch, so I'm just going to assume that this resembles (Another) Wizard somehow.
Welcome to the channel!
It is nice to see that there are some great games to discover eh?
Reminds me a lot of Captain Forever, so I'll definitely check it out.
Ok, fine, I'll sub, happy now, you masochist? Keep up the good work.
Is there a possibility that there could be some kind of ranking video for the rare gems? Of course it may be a while before you even have enough decent games, so in the meantime I still enjoy seeing you pick apart the awful ones. I just think it could be nice to see which ones are worth playing without going back to watch every review.
I'm planning a top 5/bottom 5 for when I've covered 100 games!
this was a great one
This game's visuals are so beautiful
Goes to show that just because you’ve never heard of a game, that doesn’t mean it’s not good.
Absolutely! I was so happy to stumble onto this game. Never would have found it without this series
could you make a seperate playlist for games you enjoyed at some point?
I've got a spreadsheet linked in the video description, and I'll look into a playlist when I get the time =)
Can I be annoying and nosey and ask whether you're from Britain or Australia? If I were to guess, I'd put money on South Australian but I can't tell for sure and it bugs me way more than it should.
ps- great videos, I have a small suggestion for the series. Perhaps instead of going directly down the Steam directory in alphabetical order, you could review one random game from each letter of the alphabet then start the cycle again once you get to Z.
It just might give you a chance to play more varied games than trying to get through the entire game library alphabetically in one go.
Heya! I don't mind the questions =)
I'm actually from West Australia, so you weren't too far off with your guess!
As for the series; it's literally impossible to play every game on Steam, no matter how you split it. So even though I'm doing it in order, it's still effectively random because the games are so unknown. It also makes it easier for viewers to see what is coming up for the series, and for my own sanity to track it.
Found your channel through the Arcane Raise video, starting watching the rest of your channel, albeit not in alphabetical order. (but rather at random) Although I would like to share one weird quirk with steam alphabetical ordering I found recently. More specifically, differences between how the steam wishlist and the steam search order alphabetically. A game that starts with 𝄞 on the wishlist will get placed in between punctuation and numbers, while that same game on steam search gets put.... somewhere below Z.
I know wishlist isn't all that relevant to this series, but I wanted to share that regardless, since I was surprised when I initially noticed it, and just wanted to share it with someone. (Oh and the game I noticed this on is Gaia's Melody: Echoed Melodies. I thought I'd note that since throwing 𝄞 into steam search yields 0 results)
There are indeed differences between the Store listing and the Library listing for games, making the sorting in both a bit different. As an example, quotation marks seem to matter in the store, but not in the library.
I need MORE videos! :)
Already writing the script for the next one!
Can’t wait for noita in like 50 years
See you then 😉
good video
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it
You need more subs dude
The channel has gone from less than 1000 to over 15k in a month.
Can't complain about that!
@@Graeldon Still need more sub! Its a crazy journey and you are so underated!
holy shit it looks so cool
This game is still receiving a lot of updates from the dev as well! Definitely worth a look!
This game looks sick, I may get it
It's not perfect, but if you like rogue-lite style games and top down shooters, this is a pretty great time!
Apparently whoever titled this game did it while having a stroke on their keyboard.
It's meant to be the words as part of a tether (far right is the pointed harpoon tip), but yeah I get what you mean
this game looks great!!!
1:22 I reckon they don't call themselves whatever "the contemptors" is in their language
No, they genuinely do. They kept racking up formal GC censuring for violating the code against “explicit scorn or contempt against equally- or less-advanced civilizations, organisms, or constructs” until they literally started wearing that name as a badge of pride. It’s literally like if a government got enough stern finger-wags from the UN for mistreating minority populations that they renamed their nation to Racistland because they just loved being awful that much.
man i really need to hurry up making my game before you get to A so it can be featured in yer videos
You've got about 14 years to finish the game then, should be plenty of time!
cool game
I feel like there can be some really crazy speedrun tech for this game. I'm bad at games though
There's definitely a high skill ceiling for this game, and I'm nowhere near it haha
I’m excited for when you get to black souls II it’s really fun
Gonna watch the Video Later because of Birthdays Lets go
0:33
⭐⭐❤❤❤
Here's a reference you won't get
You can always finish it in your free time
As a huge slut for spreadsheets, this is awesome
The control looks frustrating. I like the sound effects a lot, however. It reminds me of Armored Core a little.
Nice man. btw, when’s the first game with a letter?
15 games until we reach the first numbered game. There are then approximately 744 more games (included some bonus punctuation ones) before I reach the letter A. Assuming 1 game per week, that's a bit over 14 years of content.
Oh dear.
@@Graeldon hey I’ll stick with you till then. Hopefully you can get an editor so the process is easier to do
@flyingpiggy1475 I'm definitely going to get an editor when the channel grows a bit more!
@@Graeldon I hope you don’t me asking a couple of questions but what’s the time it takes to research, record and edit for a video? And do you have a option for supporter to back you like Patreon?
@@flyingpiggy1475 I'm trying to find the time to look into Patreon/UA-cam Membership. I plan on doing a community poll regarding possible rewards soon(ish).
The play time for each game obviously varies, with Red Tether being the longest, while others are only 20-30 minutes to finish. Script writing and recording can take 2-4 hours, and the actual editing is usually 6-10 hours.
I do all this in my spare time outside of work, so sometimes it's not a bad thing when a short game comes along 😅
Just found the series and got caught up the same day. I am curious if you have a plan for dealing with a game with massive amounts of content or wait time. I know the rules say no MMORPGs and that you're not going for 100% probably for this exact reason, but you have mentioned cookie clicker, which made me think of Antimatter Dimensions which is the first game that you'll hit that I personally know of that could still be a problem of this kind. It is a kind of similar idle game, and unlocking all of the "mechanics" in it can take roughly a month.
You kind of touched on it - for super lengthy games, the plan is to experience the core mechanics of had to offer, or to complete the narrative. There may be times where a video takes a few weeks to complete as a result.
Notify me one you reach the actual letters. It'll probably be a while.
Roughly 14 years. See you then!
Could you make a playlist with all your stream VODs?
There will be a community poll soon to vote on having them on this channel, or a separate vod channel 😀
WAZAAAAA
👋
@@Graeldon hello
i do have to wonder... what will be your first tripple A game in this list? (assuming it continues long enough) not that it really matters, this series is more about the smaller titles than the ones everyone knows about.
Honestly, I have no idea! And that's kind of the fun part!
The first big game that people may have heard of is the .hack series, and they actually aren't too far away
for the algorithm
looks interesting but the artstyle can be quite grating, think it might put some people off.
I can appreciate how the art style isn't for everyone. I think it's serviceable to the game, and at least has a consistent aesthetic
My game SourceForts was on steam back in the day, you'll be missing a lot of classics because steam redid it's store
What do the base buildings do?
ayy
Wtf two gems back to back.
hyphen hyphen hyphen
Red
How many reviews did it have?
hey you should give coin flipper a chance
Great video, by any chances as the series continues are there going to be more games that deal with touchy political things?, i mean im not entirely opposed but i just don't have fun with it.
Hopefully not! Rest assured that I'm not going out of my way to find any games with political themes.
I may find one eventually though, and I'll have to cover it when I do. I'll put content warnings up next time though haha
If you do find one, are you going to examine it based on your personal beliefs or like leave it on who game presents it. Like i don't have any problems when people give own on their own perspectives in the subject, it is when people give simply an unhinged and twisted perspective to fit their narrative that it becomes a problem for me, and i'm not referring to any side in particular as it applies to both.
If there is another game with those kinds of political views, I plan to simply discuss them objectively as "these are the views the game is presenting", and if they are particularly offensive I'll likely have a short statement to say that I disagree with them, and then move on.
Possibly even a disclaimer at the start to say that the views represented in the game are not my own.
But I wouldn't go into discussion on if they are right or wrong etc. I don't want to open that can of worms again
@@Graeldon Yeah i have seen your video of Alamo, don't get me wrong if something promotes harm it should be denounced no matter the ideology, but i have seen some your followers that really have a mindset that anything that goes against their views is "fascism".
@@Graeldon As a whole i'm really more concerned as what your followers might say that what you might say.
can't wait for your review of X-com!
See you in approximately 1300 years. I'm not kidding.
Patreon when?
When the time feels right =)
Why did you go from the A’s to D’d to J’s?
What part of this is alphabetical? It makes it very hard to know how far you have gotten.
Ah, the punctuation is part of the game's name, and Steam sorts by punctuation first. I we'll be at the first numbered game by the end of the year
Are they hyphens, minuses or dashes?
D: All of the above
Should I name my Steam game to be really high in alphabetical order, just so that you would get to review it? Free coverage is free coverage, ey.
You're welcome to, it's your game!
