Oh wow, it's an ice Kangaroo!! Amazing images, Gavin. That 55mm shot of the ice columns is gooorgeous. Great to see you blokes rinsing your little weiners. Lotsa laughs, as always!
Great shots!! I loved them all. My turn to offer you a tip. You can get hand warmers that come in a little package so they're very light weight and don't require any sort of battery. They probably would heat up the tripod legs enough to keep them functional. Just a thought 🙂
What an epic adventure !!! Fair play for getting into those icicles, that first shot was quite tasty !! The subsequent shots were all incredible, Mother Nature does a phenomenal job at creating the comps !! Some cold you had there, freezing tripods are all the rage these days :-) fantastic episode Buddy
Gavin I came upon your channel by accident. Not going to lie!! But I have watched many episodes like for 2 days and I will probably watch them all!! I loved the bobcat if I had the money by golly it would be on my wall!! However I’m no photo expert but your do fantastic work and I’m so thankful that you share all of your adventures!! I also watched all of you and Amanda’s videos!! I love your sense of humor your just make work look like fun!!! Haha But I know it’s not easy for you!! So just wanted to say thanks I’m disabled and I just couldn’t see these places without you!! God bless to you both and take care ❤❤
I absolutely LOVED this video. I loved how you explained your thought process every step of the way. I loved the creativeness of your shots-which were absolutely stunning. Maybe Thomas doesn't like that phrase anymore, but it's perfect for scenes like this. Wonderfully done, Gavin. Appreciate being able to enjoy something like this to relieve the stress of current world affairs. Stay safe!
What a risk you have take to make that wonderful video and pictures. I am glad nothing terible happend. Wonderful wonderland you bring to us. Thank you so much, you are the best.😘
Yeah, this was dumb. I know because when I was your age I did things like that, too. Ice, cliffs, climbing down, shooting waterfalls and then trying to climb up again. Crossing a 3-ft gap in the ledge I was walking on behind a wall of ten to twelve foot icicles. I'm 80 years old this month and I still haven't lost the desire to do things like that. All I've lost is the physical ability. I'm still that dumb-ass. I got down on the ground yesterday hiding behind a bush so I could get a closer shot of a duck. Then I couldn't get back up. Took all of my effort and a lot of tries before I made it, but here I am.
Wait, didn't TLC say "don't go chasing waterfalls" 🤔 neck, knees, nipples, head and toes ...... the extended version 😂 I don't know what TLC was thinking, that second waterfall was fantastic. "Triangle of pointlessness" 🤣🤣🤣 I tell you, I learn something new every video👍😎👍 Colin's banger at the end of the video when your talking about ice on the deadcat and he said "it sounds cold" priceless 🤗🧊
Love photographing the mountains and streams after a winter snowfall. Unfortunately we only get a couple good snows a year. And the roads through the mountains are usually closed. But, on a rare occasion the temps are cold enough long enough that the snow hangs around until the roads are cleared. And that's when it's magic.
Great Chasing waterfalls adventure! Love the interactions between you guys lol…that’s why I keep watching your videos! And I guess for the juicy photo ops too 😉. Shots 3 and 4 were our favourites! Keep up the great content!
I loved this - because it is 90% operator experience & 10% Kit. It's why we all engage with Landscape Photography. This whole - satisfying experience & all the troubles & tribulations - were about ' Landscape Photography ' - not the gear !! It would have been the same experience - irrespective of the camera / lenses / tripods / etc etc - that you own !! Be it iphone or Hasselblad ! That is what - I think - makes us as quirky as we are !! I'm sure it isn't everybody's cup of tea !! But I loved the scrabbling / crawling / submerging & framing - that our little bit of photography requires us to do ! Anybody - I mean anybody - with a camera phone or a medium format !! Would have engaged & derived such satisfaction from the experience of being in that environment !! Well done ! You have got to be in it to win it - you have got to be there ( often at stupid'o'clock ) to get the shot - so what's the worth of better equipment ! It's about the preparation, the creation & the experience. That's why I stand in freezing pools in my wellies at 3:30 a.m. Well done !!
Very Tasty shots wow ... love the dodge and burn to emphasize the highlights on the ice and snow is very strategic spots! A true master of post production you are.
Your Forth Shot Sir is the most Magnificent and Beautiful Photograph I’ve ever seen. Words cannot describe the gratitude I have for you for sharing your time, talent and sense of humor with us all. The ice all around looks like some kind of clouds in a magical storm. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for this awesome blockbuster episode with a ton of photography! Weiner is my goto waterfall but man, DID YOU GET SOME AWESOME CONDITIONS. Never seen it like that. Otherwise, I was thinking about you and I hope the transition worked out.
Absolutely gorgeous Gavin…..I’d have been ass over teakettle for sure. Mother Nature is amazing, but takes a keen eye to capture her work. Also -can’t recommend Photoshop for Morons enough!
It's amazing what you guys do to get that perfect "shot". Not sure it would be something to try solo but it's definitely safer to travel in a group. Great images, I enjoyed it all! Thank you.
This truly done my mental health good watching this. I thoroughly, from start to finish, enjoyed this. I love how you checked out every composition possible to see what worked best and fair play to you getting in behind those icycles! Love all the shots you got. It gets to - 2 celcius here on our coldest nights in Donegal and I get fogging a lot even at that, so I used these handwarmers and wrap them on the lens, it works good! Thank you so much for another brilliant video. Love your content, Adam's too 😊
Love this video! If I may be so presumptuous as to say so, I think this may be one of your most fun, interesting, and productive videos. It combines some trademark fototripper humor with a challenging site, and produces a couple of really interesting shots. I really like the shot with the frozen clump of detail on the left side almost pointing at the waterfall.
Incredible images as always! Just what the Doctor ordered, tucked up in bed feeling like a sack of s*** as that bugger of a thing COVID that’s been floating around for two years finally got me. That video was really appreciated today, thank you.
The whole shoot was amazing, all the photos wonderful. I especially loved the one with the icy bush in the foreground. Just brilliant, no, tasty is the word you would use to describe that image. Keep up the good work!
Hi, I love the shots. The vertical shot with the ice shaped “v” to the right, the pretty green hue water and waterfall is beautiful. I also really like the ice formation shots👍🏽
Wow ,what a rush ! Thank you ! Brought back great memories of Englishman River (1980s winter ) the thrill of photographing icicles at that very spot !! Plus just up river ,a spectacular Yew tree at rivers edge ,roots all exposed, moss covered ,red wet base of tree, and blue of cold of river . Kodachrome 64 and 2 weeks to see results . Next year went to photograph tree again and people carved initials in tree . Last time up there tree had gone ,washed away .
This only happens every few years on Van Isle?! Than Im so extra happy i moved here when i did, and was able to experience it this year! I was able to capture a couple pictures of Christie Falls while partially frozen, and what a spectacular sight to see ! Great shots as always Gavin!
JUST ... a few feet of cordage would help prevent 'dropping' your camera bag down the slippery slope, ouch. "Triangle of pointlessness" oh so true, gave me a chuckle. I've watched for a bit and your artistic maturity is improving. I'm not accusing you of being mature just that the art is improving and I'm very thankful that you bring me/us along for the ride.
I really enjoyed this...was hoping Amanda was there so I could see what book she is reading! I read "The Escape Room," what a mind bender. I see your face doesn't look like a "worm that got caught in a sandstorm," so there must've been some decent sleep on this trip!
You really worked for those gorgeous shots! Love how you slowly pan through the image to show all the wonderful details before showing the full image. Many parts would make their own beautiful image as well, like the ice animal at 30:50!
Excellent job I love what you do the last few shots we're my favorites 😉 keep up the great job. I lived in Victoria for 8 years but I wasn't interested photography back then I messed a great opportunity 🤗
Stunning shots, love those icy waterfalls you find on Van isle. Colin’s was shot of the day though! Bit disappointed you didn’t get your wedding tackle wet this time!!haha!
Brilliant video. Love the images. Thanks. Very envious as we haven't seen a flake of snow in the South East of the England this winter, at least not where I live.
Beautiful shots, especially the one with the ice curve in it. Love the colour of the water, the rocks you can see through it an the composition as a whole.
Great locations and love the music. I also find ice so fascinating but honestly, I find it very hard to make it look on screen as it did in person. It ends up looking too white or too gray. Thanks for bringing me along to this spot.
Tremendous images Gavin hats off to you all for braving the elements. I hope to get the operchancity for similar shots here in Scotland before the winter is over.
Well said Nick! I very much enjoy watching your channel...your information, advice and suggestions have so improved my outlook on photography! Thank you!
Fantastic video and excellent images as always Gavin! Love the length of this one and really appreciate the effort to get those amazing shots. PS. if you want cold, come to Manitoba! Unfortunately our waterfalls freeze solid at our regular cold temp of -30C. :)
Hi Gavin coming to you from east Yorkshire UK I really do enjoy all your videos with the rest of the guys or on your individual channel the location was gorgeous and watching you getting inside of the cave with all the icicles so funny but great shot for all the fun you have it's obvious your a very talented photographer and I wish nothing but success on your photography journey thanks to you Adam and collin for a great video
Gotta keep those lenses warm! My personal hack is to take my wool socks with holes in them and cut the toe section out then slide he rest over the lens barrel making layers and pockets. I’ve used this shooting owls at night at -37°f with no foggy lens. Although I mostly use it on cold winter/spring nights when shooting the Milky Way and never has an issue. Just in case though I’ll pick up a bunch of the Walmart $1 thin, reusable hand warmers either to put in my gloves or you could put them under the Sox on lens barrel.
The branch at 31:24 . Looks like a big dog looking into the scene . Great vlog Gavin . You matey never fail to put a smile on my face . . With covid etc I’m struggling to get the get up n go to get off my arse and go take photos . I brought myself a new camera body 2 years ago this week . It has max 250 clicks on it . My mojo is rock bottom, Thanks for a bit of inspiration. Regards Martin UK .
Incredible ice formations. Your images are awesome. I'm looking at my ice cleats and they are not as spiky as yours. They are okay but I can see the advantage of the spiky ones. I think your efforts paid off. Thank you for sharing!!!
Given that weather is so rare on tropical Van Island the return might not be worth it, but there ARE ice cleat feet for tripods; I've got 'em work like a charm, on dry rock they're really good too. Very nice shots, as always. One disappointment for me in this video is that we didn't get to see you getting up the trail you slid your camera bag down :)

Wow, Colin's reverse driving skills (15:17) are next level...
Oh wow, it's an ice Kangaroo!! Amazing images, Gavin. That 55mm shot of the ice columns is gooorgeous. Great to see you blokes rinsing your little weiners. Lotsa laughs, as always!
That’s what I thought too
Great shots!! I loved them all. My turn to offer you a tip. You can get hand warmers that come in a little package so they're very light weight and don't require any sort of battery. They probably would heat up the tripod legs enough to keep them functional. Just a thought 🙂

Likely the best photography you got that year. Great segment.
For all your monkeying around... I love all the thought that you put into each shot Gavin... 👍
Excellent!
When you click on the new Fototripper video and it's nearly 38 minutes long.... Cup of Yorkshire Tea, chocolate and settle in. 👍
But what kind of chocolate?
Gavin I came upon your channel by accident. Not going to lie!! But I have watched many episodes like for 2 days and I will probably watch them all!! Superb video, Gavin! Great images and what I liked most was your explanations on your comps - those details, and then the contagious excitement. 👍
Love your adventurous spirit and absolutely gorgeous images. Hope Amanda has got your life insurance all sorted! 😁👍
I absolutely LOVED this video. I loved how you explained your thought process every step of the way. I loved the creativeness of your shots-which were absolutely stunning. OMG...you are on the verge of some macro shots with that ice! Ice is so beautiful, enjoyed the insights.
A massive thank you for taking me to those falls. I have never been anywhere that cold, and probably never will, but I was blown away by the beauty
I have to admire all of you sticking out the weather conditions and your shots are unbelievable 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Some great shots there Gavin. The saying "Mad Dogs and Yorkshiremen go out in the Artic Blasts" springs to mind!

I love how natural the snow and ice look in your final images! Well, done
Great adventure Gavan, thank you for letting us be a part of it !!!!
Thanks for this awesome blockbuster episode with a ton of photography!
Weiner is my goto waterfall but man, DID YOU GET SOME AWESOME CONDITIONS. Never seen it like that.

What superb ice shots Gavin, very well done.....Colin Devon UK....
Absolutely gorgeous Gavin…..I’d have been ass over teakettle for sure. Mother Nature is amazing, but takes a keen eye to capture her work.
Also -can’t recommend Photoshop for Morons enough!
I was so happy that I spotted that curving branch at 26:25 and then that was your composition, love it. Great video pal, ATB Marti
I nearly died when I saw your camera bag bounce down that slippery slope.
It's amazing what you guys do to get that perfect "shot". Not sure it would be something to try solo but it's definitely safer to travel in a group. Great images, I enjoyed it all! Thank you.
You have creepier and creepier moments in each video and that just makes me like you more.
What a fantastic video and shots. "I'm concentrating on not dying" 😁 I love your dedication in chasing awe!
Great road trip, up there as one of the best, plenty of info, photography and a good dose of humour. Really enjoyed this video 👏🏻👏🏻

Love the icy river landscape. Your icicle macro is stunning. Fantastic stuff!

@@fototripper yeah I’m made of hardcore Cornish stuff lol 👍
I am very envious Gavin, the scenery is magical. Love your work.🤩
Ahhh ya! Gotta love a new fototripper video! That looked so darn cold, and I live in Alberta. LOL
Lovely reflections, those close ups of the columns just gorgeous, water fall at 37 or so 😍

Epic Buddy. Good to see the macroish shots! I think those types of shots get overlooked too often!
Very interesting episode! I really like the shot with the curved shield of ice in the foreground, perfect leading line

Beautiful shots, especially the one with the ice curve in it. Love the colour of the water, the rocks you can see through it an the composition as a whole.
Really appreciate the effort you went through to bring us this vlog. Some amazing shots!!
What a place. Absolutely beautiful. Great shots and video📷👍🏼
Love the waterfall images, simply marvelous! But also the icicle image was beautiful as well.
Glad you guys got through that safe. Too funny. Thanks for the content and your continued sacrifices for your art!
Ooh YES! Putting all the shenanigans to one side. Curvy ice shard waterfall shot! Made me moist. I’m done!
Tresmendious as always Gavin - Stunning Location and Conditions. :)
Wow! You worked hard on this shoot and the results are brilliant!
Wow! Great vlog, great photos, and fantastic develop. Really enjoyed that one.
Watching this one and I see you’re walking in the snow beside a stream, and my only thought “WTF is he doing? Is he crazy?” You did some nice photos.
Great locations and love the music. I also find ice so fascinating but honestly, I find it very hard to make it look on screen as it did in person. It ends up looking too white or too gray. Thanks for bringing me along to this spot.
Some lovely shots, I really loved the second waterfall shot with the curved ice formation, really nice.
Fantastic photos as usual, and another superb video. Thanks!!
DUDE LOL...Always great to watch your videos. Your photos are killin as usual! Many greetings from South America
Tremendous images Gavin hats off to you all for braving the elements. I hope to get the operchancity for similar shots here in Scotland before the winter is over.

That photo at 31.14 is an absolute beauty!
Well said Nick! I very much enjoy watching your channel...your information, advice and suggestions have so improved my outlook on photography! Thank you!
Very good video Gavin! Stunning images!!!
Great video Gavin! I absolutely love Colin's shot lol!

Great video Gav👍 and beautiful shots👌🏻
Great photos again brilliant dedication to photography
That you go to almost any length to get the shot is inspiring Gavin
Great vid - great shots, but the one at 31:11 (Fourth Shot) is just stunning. Thanks for sharing
Gotta keep those lenses warm! My personal hack is to take my wool socks with holes in them and cut the toe section out then slide he rest over the lens barrel making layers and pockets. Awesome video Gavin I love waterfalls specially frozen ones
Realy enjoyed the vlog Gavin. Good work, great photo’s. Thnx
My mojo is rock bottom,
Thanks for a bit of inspiration.
Regards Martin UK .
The mojo will return. It always does.
Magnifique old boy! But what happened to the appropriate footwear? Surely, you could have fitted Cletus to those as well?! 😆👍
WOW ... AWEEEEEEESOME ... thanks for taking us with !!!
Absolutely fantiqua! I have photo envy as we don’t get snow at all in Queensland Australia.
Incredible ice formations. Your images are awesome. I'm looking at my ice cleats and they are not as spiky as yours. They are okay but I can see the advantage of the spiky ones. I think your efforts paid off. Thank you for sharing!!!
Yeah, the Canadian Tire cheapos are trash!
Wonderful, entertaining and educating. Thank you for chasing ave for us. G
The second to last image was amazing, witht he white snow and green water...WOW.
Great tones in that image at 24:52. 😃 But why didn't you have your Appropriate Footwear? You're gettin' soft lad, soft!
You make Marlin Perkins proud! Thank you for your efforts to bring this to us!
Given that weather is so rare on tropical Van Island the return might not be worth it, but there ARE ice cleat feet for tripods; I've got 'em work like a charm, on dry rock they're really good too. Very nice shots, as always. One disappointment for me in this video is that we didn't get to see you getting up the trail you slid your camera bag down :)
yah it was too sketchville
great location and great pictures. Love it !!!
It must be chilly, Gavin isn't using flip-flops!
..flip flops with micro spikes i say
Fototripper with another beautiful video.. LOVEE this one
