My immediate thought. Have heard only two people do this well in the 15 years I've semi-regularly gone to karaoke shows. They both burned the goddamn house down, and still probably paled in comparison to this dude. Unreal.
That's the most amazing thing about this video. If you've ever booked or thrown shows before it is almost impossibly rare to shut up a bar audience. I've seen it happen before but this one is magical.
Totally agree. I’ve watched this like 100 times over the years and I love how by half way through the first verse all the laughing and chatting has stopped.
This is the sort of person who should be famous. Amazing voice, clearly musically gifted and very charming. So much more deserving of it than any of the popstars around today.
Even though it's been 10 years since you commented, things are happening!! July 17, 2024 he's playing his 1st gig in Nashville!! We're coming from all over to see him! Reserved tables are already sold out!!
I am a long time voice / guitar / piano teacher. I show this video when my voice students & I start talking about how to "place your voice" and how to "manipulate tone". How to be "emotional" with your technique. Josh is the MASTER at this. We analyze every line. We listen to his tone, his resonance, the breathiness, when he pulls his tone back in his throat, when he gets nasal. We take note of his vibrato & how he uses it effortlessly. His phrasing too !!! We watch his mouth, neck & body. We also watch how he "works the audience" and adds humor & story to the performance. There is so much to learn from studying this man's beautiful voice & his mastery of his vocal instrument. FANTASTIC !!!
MUSIKRant Productions stop talking shit, he is a gospel singer of 20+ years experience, maybe if you talked less and practiced more you would be doing as he does instead of teaching ? Gobshite.
@@fistingendakenny8781 pretty dumb comment. So NFL coaches cant teach football because they cant play as well as the players? Teaching is one thing. Doing is another. He is simply commenting the man. My band and I have played multiple shows with Josh. His band has so much energy and always kept the crowd moving, but this was always my favorite part of the night. It's so cool to see this video going viral because I always thought more people should see this man sing and now he's in front of hundreds of thousands!
Thank you Josh. I played this for my uncle Bill (UB) on 8/22/22 at 12:22pm, as he passed at 79yrs old. He loved Waylon Jennings and Dolly Parton. No matter how old, this performance is still relevant to all, on many significant levels. 🔥🤘🏼🤙🏼✌🏼🖤
This man took a world wide hit and literally made it his own. He made me feel like it was my first time listening to this song. His emotions played into this song differ so greatly than the original. Whitney will always be queen but this man… this man right here… did this song more than justice. Mad respect. You broke my heart singing this song and I will forever give you my respect. Much love. Keep being you!
This is actually a Dolly Parton song, she released it in the early 70's and it was a hit for her. Of course then Whitney used it for The Bodyguard and we all know what happened. Dolly probably built Dollywood with the royalties. This song has taken Josh all over the world. He's played it for President's, Ambassadors, all kinds of things and he plays it every live performance he does!! I love hearing Josh sing it, it has brought him so many fans and followers, still does to this day. I've been a fan/follower for 19 years and counting. He's been blowing up social media doing country, he is a country boy from Texas after all and I predict he's fixing to blow up everywhere! He has his 1st Nashville gig July 17th and this Texas girl is going to be there! Keep your eyes open, I believe Josh Weathers is fixing to SOAR!!!
I liked this years ago while watching it on repeat. And, well, here we are close to the end of 2022. This would win any singing talent show on TV hands down. 🎉🎉
He has my favorite voice of any human ever it just hits me this was the song my wife and I danced to this version she has been gone 3 years now and this song is the happiest and saddest part of my day thank you Josh for the greatest day and memory of my life
Oh, I was!!! And I knew he was gonna nail it! Nobody even attempts this song unless they know they can blow it away! I just wish I could have heard it live. Probably would have been on the floor rolling around like a blubbering baby!!!
That's the underrated (and not talked about enough) part of this video is the guitar playing & dynamics he brings to the guitar are near perfection for how he's singing. Just an amazing "arrangement". He's a beast!
The quietness & enjoyment of the audience is the ultimate respect for The Voice, who's without an equal in quality or extent; matchless. Undeniably, The GOAT, Ms. Whitney Houston.
I get chills EVERY time I watch this & it kicks into overdrive at the 4:20 mark give or take. Unreal. The control is sick. And NOBODY talks about the dynamics and control he displays on guitar either. It's a perfect fit.
We were lucky enough to stumble into a bar where this dude was playing a few years back. I've seen a lot of bar talent... he was the best I'd seen then, and the best I've seen since. And so humble too. Well done Josh.
And that ladies and gentlemen is why Texas Music is so amazing... So many talented musicians in one place, from one place, playing hundreds of shows in between a couple of rivers to loyal fans every weekend. It's always so great when these guys get the respect they work so hard for, their tenacity is unmatched in my opinion. The irony is Texas music is known so much for the artists' songwriting, yet Josh, as well as many other Texas musicians, can display that same delivery through a cover... That is the talent ladies and gentlemen.
Speechless.. Someone give this man a respectable and lucrative record deal so he can keep making some real music.. Something the music industry itself is in dire need of..
