- I would pay an inordinate amount of money to see them play this song live, it quickly became one of my favourites when I heard it on the Nightfall re-issue.
The image is 'Burning of the Ships' by Ted Nasmith, all credit to him etc. etc.

Lyrics
Call the wind, I hail thee
But sail on through the storm
There's fire in my mind, fire in my mind
Fire in my mind, fire in my mind
There's no escape
And there's no return
The blood and smoke behind us
It's now out of sight
Tears you might be crying
But it's over now
For a higher cause we've come
So just keep your hate alive
The tides of war (the tides of war)
We've come to face it in these lands
We've come to face it in these lands
The Curse of Fëanor
No sorrow, no loss I count the ones behind
Come follow, don't turn your back and let 'em whine
The grief is real, the pain I feel
It's not what I've been longing for
They shall be free, they'll be released
They can't get over the sea
They were following in vain
Burning vessels, burning hope
Needless baggage on the road
Let 'em curse me, let 'em blame
They may have faced their journey's end
Boats at distant shore they burn
The wind still carries smoke
In Araman we've seen Teleri's work on fire
Across the ice, aflamed
To take revenge, ashamed
Betrayed by the insane Fëanor
You've gone too far, you've come to fail
Fëanor
All done in vain, by the oath
You delivered our doom
The tides of war (the tides of war)
We've come to face it in these lands
We've come to face it in these lands
The Curse of Fëanor
Boats at distant shore they burn
The wind still carries smoke
In Araman we've seen Teleri's work on fire
Across the ice, aflamed
To take revenge, ashamed
Betrayed by the insane Fëanor
We've gone too far, we've come to fail
Fëanor
Yet we have reached the promised land
Oh, Fëanor
The tides of war (the tides of war)
We've come to face it in these lands
We've come to face it in these lands
The Curse of Fëanor
Aaaa

@@sanin3213 well, it could hardly be left to be overlooked, now could it?
@@sortagoodish8491 I put my mind and soul into it.
@@sanin3213 is this your silmaril? The work of your heart, which you shall only make once?

Man ... traditional Blind Guardian production. Hearing this rare track more than 20 years later for the first time. Good production makes such a difference.
I'm in love with this song! everything about it is perfect!
"The grief is real, the pain I feel
It's not what I've been longing for
They shall be free, they'll be released
They can't get over the sea"
The fact that they've even added Maedhros' POV about the burning of the ships makes it all the more amazing.
Imagine this: Fëanor and Fingolfin singing this at a stage (If you look at the lyrics it's almost as if they were talking to each other), Maedhros and Fingon at the guitars and Maglor at the drums
A concert to rock all of Arda!
A Silmarillion stage musical would be metal af.
one small part is from Maedhros' POV
@@Gyrosmeister I agree
Daeron maybe too. He never got lost. Tolkien forgot to write about the concert.
Me, obsessed with Nightfall in Middle Earth: THERE'S MORE??!
I getcha man. My favourite Guardian album.
wait until you find out there's "doom" as well

Oh man I love this song. Nostalgic and new at the same time.
Blind Guardian in a nutshell
I've known this album for a decade, but I've just discovered this bonus track. '-'
To be fair, not your fault. It was never included until 2018.
What a chorus!!!!!
I'm waiting for a nightfall in middle eart extended edition with this, doom and maybe some other goodies ;)
The 2018 re-issue did come with this, doom and harvest of sorrow, with the CD release containing both the original mix and the 2018 re-mix. Not quite an extended edition but still.
Killer vocals
WHY I FOUND IT ONLY NOW?
Blind Guardians Angels!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty nice💪👌Hansi is an amazing singer.... 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Wonderful song, it is a pity that it is at the end of the album and not where it should according to the book
Well it's a new track. That doesn't mean its supposed to be the last. Im sure if they ever re-re-re release Nightfall itll apear in the right place for the story
@@rivlesbeware Re-re-re-release. LOL!
@@rivlesbeware I'm not sure it's new? I remember an interview several years ago where Hansi mentioned that there were tracks made for Nightfall n Middle-Earth that had never been released. I assume that Doom and Tides of War was what he was referring to.
@@alvedonaren new to us
Why this song wasn’t even including in Nightfall of Middle Earth album ? Although it’s clearly saying that Atar was insane (Well Moringotto drove him so), this is so good ! Makes me miss my roleplay about the flight of the Ñoldor…
The song was not finished by the time the album was to be released, and they already had enough songs. It does now appear on the most recent reissue however

@@JJJJJJJJJAAAAAA im just busting your balls. And i cant, i love blind guardian so much its ridiculous.
Can you please make a song of Beleriand and Morgoth?
Something about this makes me wish Blind Guardian and Sabaton did a concept album of Cortez's invasion of the Aztec Empire, starting with the moment he burned his ships.
Actually Cortés did not burn the ships, he simply sank them
@@juane2730 Hmm...Less Dramatic, but it could still work.
@@morgant.dulaman8733 ye. I still want this album too.
A bit late but it looks like (and is credited as) "the burning of the ships", an event from from the Silmarillion. They did it for the same reason as Cortes sinking his fleet, more or less.
@@BTCforlife That and to trap Fingolfin and his host (who just so happened to be the majority of the Noldor) from making it to Middle Earth, forcing them to travel the Grinding Ice, a region about as hospitable as it sounds.
Yea...Feanor was a bit of a jackass even before he went insane
Why wasn't this initially released with Nightfall?
It wasn't finished when the album was to be released, and I guess they already had enough tracks so they didn't bother waiting to finish this one. It (possibly) was going to appear on a planned EP follow up to the album (along with Doom and Harvest of Sorrow) but this never happened.
I guess it's because the curse of feanor (the original of the album) fits better to describe this part of the story
Demons and Wizards Рулит!!!!!!!!!!!
Which album is this from?
It was a bonus track on the 2018 reissue of nightfall in middle-earth, earlier a different mix/version (which I also uploaded) was released on an EP with a German music magazine (I forget what it's called)
Maybe Nasau Can join :)
