🙋🏻♂️
Prog House, baby! Good vibes and fond memories. I remember owning several discs from the GU series, and they were always great. John Digweed is a Legend!
best dance memories,digweed,sasha.warren.oakenfold....
Indeed.. Was one of my fave DJs back the late 90's.. Met him once.. Best friend knew him and brought me into 4th & B where he spun an after hours set to meet him... Same friend also introduced me to DJ Dan who was kicking it at my friend's house after he had spun a set at Club Montage in San Diego... Someone there had also given DJ Dan a fat sack of K, and DJ Dan gave it to me and then spun a set for me on my friend's tables with some of his vinyl... The next day my friend gave me a CD that had the set DJ Dan spung for me...
Wow this albums a still holds up. Amazing.
My god.. This whole mix sounds like 1 one hour song. SO PERFECT.
my favorite dj is john digweed. so dark, proggy, and housy and at the right times funky, ya boy!
Still good 20 years after
aquí no pasa el tiempo, entre los mejores discos de música electrónica ...!!
The best GU ever. Miss so much such sounds.
Ah. Király. Régi szép idők 😍😍😍🙏👌
I miss progressive house mixing - 5 minutes + of genius, flawless mixing and perfect record selection! Nothing comes close to these days. If you know you know! We owe it all to Global Underground! Walking into HMV happy to drop £18 a weeks wage on the double disc of inspiration :)
Adrenaline pumping, super baggy pants, fresh comfy sneakers stomping.
A new movement for us fueled by techno beats and of course: peace, love unity and respect.
I love it then I love it now. Good times in our beloved SoCal :]
Indeed a good Digweed
First heard this cd along time ago w the hottest guy ever. I still get shivers! This mix is timeless. Sexy and powerful stuff. My pink Floyd of techno. Great to drive to it, it soothes a girl! Need more of this stuff!
these mixes are also superb , check them out

Still listening to this in June 2022...this sounds as good if not better than anything out there today.
Last Friday of every month @ Twilo...
Hey I only saw them at TWILO NYC …. About 15 times…. Shit is still sick
recuerdo que habia fumado marihuana en aquel entonces y el viaje que me di con esos paisajes sonoros ....expectacular
Lets have it right, the best time for prog house and trance was the period 1996-2001.oaky,sasha,digweed,seaman,warren,etc were our beatles. what have kids got now.shite "r+b" and bianca gascoine, pixie geldoff, lauren pope and peter andre's brother' dj'ing dahn the "'suga hut mate" fuck that!.i'll remember 'whoop it up' down the velvet rooms ta very much. i probably sound like me grandad having a moan at me dad when he watched the stones on ready steady go.for those in the know. i salute you.got to admit though I was a fucker on the gear back in those days!!!!!
not only about muzick , might kinda new for me while those years clubes kinds of dressup self characters concern types of sectors ravers roams up the atmostphere , turn kinds of attractive while not expect wears for go to supermark with grand pa and enjoy together
The only thing that topped the Whoop nights at the Velvet Rooms was Renaissance at The Cross :)
Yeah clubbing never did get back to that golden age. House and trance was amazing then. Especially when your pilled up ;-) John the dentist and John 'oo' flemming were great to. Must be something about guys called John and the music lol
Word.. those where the days... The year that Tranceport was release (Oct of 1998) was when I became a RaveR... Turned Kandi Kid in Jan 99.... I miss those days when everyone would use Ravelinks to find those underground raves.. And of course the quest to find and get to said rave before the sun rises and the Pills and K run out...
20 years guys...
My favorite. Still.
Timeless 👏👏
Brilliant album
This is so fine, DIgweed out of this world as usual. 💖💖
Jd never really got the love from me and my fellows back in the day, but now the man is a legend..

Must agree though with previous poster that love in traffic is the only weak link
Legjobb!!!!!!!!!
John digweed is both dj and producer, not all the tracks he plays are created by him.
valuable life insurance
Global Underground's contribution to Dance music is unparalleled. What Digweed, Tenaglia, Oakenfold, Sasha, Satoshi Tomie and Deep Dish understood is, a DJ SET is about the journey and taking listeners to places they've never been before. Some good DJ's out there now playing good track after another, BUT they've lost the journey aspect of dance music.
well said m8
Could not agree more. The journey has been, on the whole, lost as a concept with exception of DJs like Kollektiv Turmstrasse and a few others. I think the issue may also be to do with how similar productions are now because genres were a lot looser 20 years ago and DJs included a wider variety of tracks in their sets. The move away from analog to digital production is a factor too. And of course, there's the issue of BPM. Music always changes and comes back on itself and I'm hoping for a renaissance but whatever happens, the scene will never be what it was in the late 80s and 90s. Just be thankful we were there to experience it.
Yes mate. Representing the underground
Amén!!!
Amen brother 🙏
After 15 years this still sounds fucking amazing and i will probably continue to listen to this set for another 15 years... people bash on progressive house/trance, but one thing that it certainly has more than popular music these days is that it will always remain timeless.
+Skars which drugs you used alcohol ,weed ?
+Janemary keepitreal A bit of both, why?

Skars - FACTS.
One of my fav's as well from Digweed. Never disappoints.
When I listened to this album for the first time, even when I was a huge fan of digweed but I didn't like it, I was more into melodic trance and even most of the progressive house I liked was different than this album so I just quite didn't get this album, I couldn't understand what digweed has done so I just put it away, but since I spent money on this so I decided to give it another chance, I listened to it again and I don't know what happened, it was like I was listening it for the first time and this music was unlike any other music I ever listened to, literally blew my mind, it was dark, wicked and the best mix I ever heard, it's been two decades now and it's still my most favorite album, no other mix comes close to this masterpiece. I can't even count how many times I have listened to this and it still feels as great as it felt that night so so long ago.
I'm glad you finally got to discover it's awesomeness!! :)
I remember this album well. The first track, after arguing with my dad after drinks on a May Bank Holiday. Bedroom, no fucking about, full blast on my Aiwa system. To be rudly interrupted and escorted out of my father's house. What a fucking mix it still is. ❤
my thoughts exactly. i didnt get it, at all at first until maybe the third or fourth time when it slapped me round the chops. I shouldve known better than to have doubted the genius of Diggers. old silky himself. big love. JD
Decades later.....this album is still unbelievably good.John Digweed ahead of times.
Always
absolutely
This compilation should be mandatory in music school / universities' curriculums
No doubt buddy these DJ from the early 2000s were the true pioneers of mixing & compilations how true DJ set should be mixed it told story no randomized! Likes David of guetta calvin harris sought after
But U wanna go the best ever mixed and compiled cd's ever made Paul oakenfold perfect presents another world fucking amazing DJ set & no body didn't better than oaky in those days! Something Armand van bureun was chasing to inspire & and learnt shit

Still listening in 2023, this and Nick Warrens Iceland mix are still my go to DJ mixes when I look for inspiration on I can improve my mixing. The mix is just flawless, perfect timing on baseline drops it’s still the cream of the crop.
Iceland mix is one of my favourite ❤❤❤❤
Reykjavik, what a brilliant album 👏
DAVE SEAMAN JOHN DIGWEED PAUL OKENFOLD AND SATOSHI Dany tenaglia Sasha Nick Warren, you are my best dj!
Hernan Cattaneo, Anthony Pappa
20 odd years later and here i still am. Still as good as the first time.
VERY odd years 🤣 and still saving my life.
Fucking outstanding isn't it
Big time
So dark, I loved the progressive house that JD really pioneered. That whole era was amazing, when DJ skills where more than a MacBook. Jimmy Van M, Danny Tenaglia when he was in the mood, Deep Dish, Cass & Slide, Danny Howells, Max Graham, Sandra Collins, Hernan Cataneo...
One of the best memories I have is driving down the coast with my older cousin and him dropping this CD. I would’ve been about 14 and I remember that day because it started my journey through progressive electronic music
I did something similar when this first was released. I was working up in San Francisco and was driving down to LA for new years and had just bought this mix. I left San Francisco to Sasha's GU 9, had something playing after while driving down the 5 and Digweed's GU19 started just before I hit the 405. Quite serendipitous timing and made it all the more memorable descending down into LA.
@@dreadsocialistroberts I did the same thing back in England in '95 listening to Sasha's Essential Mix CD full blast on my mate's mum's car stereo of all places! Couple o bongs, autumn evening, orange sunset, purple sky and Sasha's thunderstorm intro setting the scene for a lifetime of progressive listening.
That was the first that got me.. Then Renaissance 1

When it came out i thougt it was rubbish as I was more trance biased
Now at 41 ,I can see how wrong I was
Saw him at Club Hyperia March 17 2001 in Houston. Played for 10 hours. Master behind the decks. The journey was incredible.
deep dark progresive. this is one of his best sets.
this is the best set ever made
57:07 oh my god!! Nostalgia!! ❤️❤️
Thats the best xxx
A f*cking groove! Love this song. 😎
Thesis as close you can get 20202021 56:56
So dark and groovy, still loving this one!
By far the best mix I ever heard. I'm listening to house/techno for over 20 years now and heard thousends of dj-mixes. All of them never came close to this Digweed mix. The build-up is magical and the tracks are supreme progressive. Love in traffic, My Release....More than excellent produced tracks and a trip to listen to. Digweed is the right DJ to mix those tracks, he does it like no other, perfect! Big trip this L.A. gig!
I seen him before he wank DJ he only play 1deck time he does not like is music
Lay off the drugs Gareth
I like your comment because you know nothing about nothing. Put your toaster on mate and eat before you go bed.Tip,dont chop wood in an a dingy, peace.

I know the end 30 min is fuckin amazing starting at 45:45 ho-ley-SHIT!
This is a perfect antidote to the shit that the corporations pass off to the kids that listen to the anti music in the top 40.
i wish i was 20 again dropping E like there is no tomorrow hahahahaha
Me too bro !!!!!
Me too my friend, me too :)
Yes bro where are these days..
dropping E?? ohh youre one of those who only liked the scene and the music if they were E'n... LOL
Yea - but it got shady - Those were the days though. The community that existed around music just like this was amazing. It took a rainbow colored black sheep like me and made him feel accepted and wanted. The party scene was my life and world. It saved me as a teen, for sure.
Digweed has a majesty all of his own. In all the years of listening to his mixing I have never heard anything that is other than sublime. Still the best in the business.
unfortunately, he had changed as well :( ....but he was the one of the best of the great prog era (99-06)
it's all about seeing Digweed live these days. I don't particularly like his podcasts or 'live in' mixes - but seeing him DJ always hits the spot.
This is the truth dj can only play music thats out
@@tau-ceti True . He is a must see live!!
fu.k it's 2019 and this blew me away 2002 and today too.....
This is the only man where i cant hear any transition to another track whatsoever. He is technically brilliant!
Flawless mixing on vinyl also 😍😎

I was at the gig in LA that inspired this mix and I can assure everyone that his 8 hours of mixing was flawless. I was forever changed after that gig
unreal set from the golden era. just incredible. years and years ago i read a review that described this as nuclear. not sure i know a stronger word to describe this. when diggers starts jacking it up at around 48:00 minutes in, how can can it get better? i'm at twilo, centro-fly, arc in 2000 - 2002 again.
The best clubs and best nights I have been to! What experiences!
Truly dark, so deep.
Digweed - progressive master -
I can't get no sleep!
A Haiku for you.....
"We're predicting third stage shut-down in eleven minutes, fourty-two seconds..."
"This is Apollo Control at 22 hours 49 minutes ... the crew has been awake for some time according to the surgeon."
the best part of the set!
Wow! Thought this thread was dead. JD was on the decks my first time at Twilo. 1999 I think. Crap I'm old!
An absolute monster of a mix never to be bettered. Diggers was and still is the master of his craft.
God damn right
Have to disagree my friend, Oakey.
@@nicholasmolloy7343 you like the commercial side of techno… it’s cool

Here I'm tripping as an adult to my teenage best album. Around 20 years window this still amazing!
I'm 42 and still tripping to this album mate!
I can feel you for sure..
Diggers just sets a mood for the dance floor. In complete control of his programming and presentation to the crowd. Straight legend.
Everything about this is special. From the opening track to the purple sky in the cover with the trees in the background. It all just comes together in a way that every time I hear it I'm taken away to a different world.
Read the album cover...the way the scene was described was awesome, but can you imagine being there when this music was going down....no words!
@@Shoksable even thinking about getting this huge blasting banging deep tribal progressive house sound as early as the end of the year 2000 in the club is just mindblowing... so daring, dark and often times cold and scary yet sexy and irresistibly high quality underground house music.
Had the privilege of seeing seeing him many times in LA and actually hanging with him. Cool guy! Wish the the vibe was still the same... Miss this era of him and Global Underground!
Lucky you!
I saw him several times in LA as well, this CD was one of the few I missed him as my friends wanted to go to see/listen to Tiesto's Majik 7 recording at the Myan that same week and I couldn't do both my friends said it cemented their belief he is the best DJ in the world and when it dropped and I went to see him at NYE that year I agreed, that NYE was the best live set I ever heard him play - just as epic as this CD for 12 hours
@@richierich2867Avalon NYE, was there as well. Great night.

Diggers to the rescue!!!!! My man never disappoints. Been following him since Renaissance's '94 double CD Mix release.
When he and Sasha play together its ALWAYS STELLAR!! Seen them 6 times live together. Can't count how many times separately, but its a LOT.
who can replace sasha and digweed ? they have had some great releases.
Bought this 16 years ago and still sounds fresh. Deep, atmospheric yet percussive. Every aspiring dj/producer should be given this
Amen
Cavo Paradiso 2001 13 hours live set....Best night ever...Never Forget...
13 hours? Really?
I was there. Best night of my life man
Hypnotically beautiful. Diggers is just the best, and this is him at his absolute most epic. Deep and dark
Totally agree. Always forever one of the high points of the music.
The club nights at Twilo in NYC and Avalon/Axis in Boston from 98-03 will always have a special place in my soul. I still remember a night when Dave Seaman closed the night with Sweet Dreams with a deep, dark bass then cutting out when the chorus came up with the whole club singing it
The light looks incredible, with contrast. He doesn't always pastiche with moody, sombre though. Listen to his releaseMXCII, the album title has Roman numerals Im not certain if that is correct. Great album, more downtempo style from Thomas./
Love In Traffic. Still one of my prized records. Took ages to track down at the time and eventually one of my mates got a copy. I think I swapped him x4 other quality records for it. Just had to have it. Love from time to time coming back to the old Global Underground CDs.
Took you ages clearly the shops u were going to were shyte .. or not good at ordering vinyl .. ..u asked for
this album and that track in particular, made me abandon the fluffy trance stuff and embrace the darkness. Never looked back after hearing that record.
Love in traffic is my fav too
Dirty Harry - 'Musica' -holy crap! What a monster! Tune slays the dance floor.
fact.. imagine hearing some of theses tracks on function 1!! there is tracks off both of theses cds that would fit perfectly in most techno sets theses says.. still though no one will ever create what John has done here.. The transitions are on a different level mixing wise..
that Satoshi's remix of "Mine to Give" to Simon's "Groove Is In The Air" transition is out of control, and these remixes are probably the best ones out there for those tracks. I saw Diggers at The House of Blues in Chicago during this album's release tour, and my buddy, who mind you is an avid Diggers follower, couldn't get into that set, and ended up leaving -- i said, there's not a chance i'm walking out of here.
It is the wrong track name
Artist is Hydrogen Rockers actually
Digweeed is the best of his kind.
