  • Eleven long years in the making but Jack's Lovely fine scale scratch built Britannia makes it's inaugural run at Walton Park.
    This is a highly detailed but functional model, all the detail is scratch made with no use of lost wax castings or shop bought fittings.

      I've inherited my grandfather's Britannia and black five and a 4mt witch is unfinished he sadly passed before he could finish it and all the locomotives sat for years while he was unwell. As a child I used to stay with him and watch him make them in his shed he was well know for making boilers him self and testing them the point I'm getting to is I saw all the blood sweat and tears going into making these so thank Jack for a beautiful locomotive.

    This magnificent model captures the thrill I got as a kid watching Britannia and others of her class tearing through Bangor station in North Wales pulling the Irish Mail express, or occasionally pulling the Emerald Isle express, which stopped in Bangor. Britannia is on static show at York, but is quite different when stone cold.

    Beautiful engine that brings back memories of myself driving my grandfathers 2.5"ga Australian C38 when I was a wee lad.

    Truly a great engineer. Well done. One question. Do you notch it back when running?

    Hello Jack, my father started a 3-1/2" 7 series Britannia a few years before he passed. I , his retired son has it. Can you advise me on acquiring drawings and cast parts for this 4-6-2 steam engine? Thanks, Richard

    How much weight can those scale locomotives pull? They seem to be able to pull a few adults no problem. Fantastic locomotive!

    • @ukmodelengineering
      @ukmodelengineering  9 років тому +2

      Hi jmadd9000, that is a difficult question to answer, it depends a lot on the model, the Britannia in this video will pull 20 passengers with ease. The most I know of for a 5 inch Gauge model of a British Standard gauge locomotive was a 9f 2-10-0 made by Jim Ewins and named 'Lode Star', it pulled 89 passengers at an estimated haul of 2.75 tonnes.

      Wow thats very impressive. How much pressure is your boiler capable of producing?

    • @ukmodelengineering
      @ukmodelengineering  9 років тому +2

      jmadd9000 the boilers working pressure is 100 PSI.

      @@ukmodelengineering Do you know about what the horsepower rating of it would be? Awesome build, from stack to track. Well done indeed.

    why the dual gauge track?

    • @cadser0engco
      @cadser0engco 6 років тому

      Sam Green because they run 3-1/2" locos as well.
