    I would keep a piece of thermalite in my workbag and rub the trowel down with it and a bit of sand and water at the end of a shift. Finished off with a dry rag and a drop of linseed oil on the plain wooden handle of my Marshaltown. I was schooled in tool care by a 60 year-old bricky back when Work Hard & Starve meant something else!
    He carried a small bottle of linseed oil in his workbag specifically to upkeep his wooden plumb-level, the type with a line and a bob-weight built-in.

    steve alex..you ever done thin joint blockwork, were you use a sweet scoop type of tool instead of a trowel..the whole innerleaf goes up first and each block is 4x the size of a traditional, when blockwork is complete the lid goes on and the other trades start on the inside whilst you start on the outerleaf with brick and mortar. just another way to get the houses completed quicker ,like timber frame or pods.

    • @brickbybric

      I see nearly new w.rose trowels on eBay U.K. fairly often and it’s usually the same auld yarn as to why they are selling them .can’t get on with them. if you message them as to the specifics it’s usually a gammy handle angle is the problem ( Mostly to high ) . That one Steve got of rodian just needs the handle angle adjusted downwards and it will be a rolls Royce of a trowel . The metal used in the rose trowels is American manufactured steel way better than the metal in the Ox , or m.t . ua-cam.com/video/NLX9fdb7D5s/v-deo.html there the new bon keystone forged trowels manufactured in Philadelphia. They look the biz.

      Yeah buy them from Speedcrete mate. Last 1 got direct from Kraft tools via speedcrete. Philadelphia wide heel. They didn’t advertise the proform handle in even in digital Kraft online book. But contact and they put 1 on no problems. Thing is W Rose are well priced. £37-£45 bucks unless you use Amazon or that may pay £60 range. Speedcrete best to use as they deal direct with Kraft tools. Think most just go with what’s easy to access and that’s your marshaltown there 10 a pennie in tool place or merchants.

    Hello mate what do you mean by the steel being pitted ?🤔 and do you think it'd a bad idea to clean a mixer with brick acid 🤔😅 nice vid mate 👍👌

    • @SteveAndAlexBuild
      @SteveAndAlexBuild  2 роки тому +2

      Pitting is when the rust sets in and eats into the steel so when it’s cleaned off you end up with tiny pits .
      As for the mixer if it’s bad knock out the worst build up then Chuck a bag of 10 mm limestone and water and let it run for a good 40 mins and it will polish it up a treat .
      As for acid once on steel it’s very aggressive and you can see the rust actually forming as you look at it . Avoid it 🧱👍🏽
