  • ***One deer is shot*Others hunted*hounds on busy B roads**
    North Cotswold Hunt,
    Wednesday 18th December 2024,
    Point to Point course Paxford.
The hedges around the meet were drawn blank. A hound was lost on the B4035 and a danfer to himself and motorists. The hunt then moved to a thick covert just north of Marfulong Farm. There to the west a holloa was heard and "Gone Away". This means a fox has been sighted, no other reason for it. The pack, however were hunting east and crossed the B4035 just below a blind bend towards Ebrington.
Screaming could be heard where the hounds had just been. The sab' present believes that this was a deer and as she was trying to get to them, Tim Pearce May dismounted and also tried to get through the fence. Before the deer could be reached a gunshot was heard. We do not know what happened. Deer do get horribly injured after being caught up in wire. They also get injured on the roads, ill etc. Any of those things may have happened but there is also the possibility that the deer was injured fleeing hounds or caught by some of them. Last season fresh remains were found where deer had just been and a few seasons ago we witnessed a muntjac being killed by the pack.
They continued to hunt around Marfurlong farm and then east of the B4479 where ( as a sab' was told) there would be no one to hunt as all the foxes had been shot. Hounds were not heard for an hour or so as they indeed found no foxes. Second horsed at 13.00 and then to the remains of the old village of Upper Ditchford. They hunted a fox over the road to Bogdan Banks and Blakemore.
To the east along Paddle Brook the sab' stayed near the bridge and saw one poor deer trying desperately jump wire to escape hounds. They did so successfully. Just south of the brook, a deer was seen running with at least one hound on their line. The sab' crossed the bridge sprayed out the area and gave the hound and the rest of the pack following a good telling off (rating) with whip cracked as well. It did the trick but silly Sam (kennel huntsman/whipper in) 1. didn't even seem to know they were hunting deer, 2. encouraged them to continue along Paddle Brook. Since Sam called said sab' "A useless c**t" earlier in the day maybe he needs to reflect on why it is up to sabs to do his job for him?
There was enough confusion though for the hounds to just look befuddled as 3 deer went their way unhindered. Master and huntsman Ollie Dale arrived and took the hounds away it is though to Ebrington where a few followers were watching not very much at dusk.

It is brutal the way some animals are hunted. There does however need to be regulated culling as foxes are predators too...I hunt deer for meat. Eating a plant based diet because it suits us better than other diets is understandable however claiming to be a vegan because of a moral highground is BS considerin they're all probably wearing man-made rubber, drove there with petrol vehicles. Electric is worse. That deer can't jump the fence because its semi domesticated & has never learnt & naturally grown strength to do so as opposed to real wild deer thst have no trouble jumping a 6ft fence. There are levels to this life guys🦌🦌🥩🥩🥩🥩🍻

Why don't you campaign against all the countryside that's going to be lost with starmers big house building projects. That's more of an issue.when the countryside gone it's gone
