The dancing is absolutely amazing, as always, but I'm sad they've changed the original high-waisted shorts with celtic designs to plain black bikini bottoms. I think the original costumes were more flattering and a lot sexier, even though they showed less flesh.
AGREED! Also maybe it’s just me but I prefer the older, less “armsy” choreography. I hate all the stuff with the arms out to the sides. Just looks cheesy. I loved the original costumes and choreo. It showed off their talents and their sex appeal without them having to try so hard. But I love Bernadette she is amazing. Just do not like these changes at all
Since it was in 2012 - The 1996 version was way better due to the strong lines and moves. I hope future renditions of the choreography will return to the original version.

Well, it's what she was told to do by the directors and Michael Flatley himself. And, when given directions, it must be followed. Or the show will end up a disaster.
Theirs zero and I mean zero chemistry going on with those dancers the lead is meant to hate the villain and why has the costume changed to a bra and knickers?
I used to know every single move to all the girls dances but I actually thought they changed Bernadette for another dancer she’s changed so much from the 1996 version of the dance don’t change perfection people this was perfect back in the day 🤦🏼♀️
How do they manage to dance without their tear-off mini-dresses not falling off? I don't mind them dancing in black underwear and tights but it now looks like a dance exercise workout video.
Blame Michael Flatley for this. They have NO say what the costumes are. Michael went all out Vegas. You'd think a drag queen would have come out and do a jig! ( hence the hideous wigs the girls are wearing) LOL.
@@sallyrickerson9139 I agree with you. As I've stated in other messages, Michael deviated from the incredible talent that he showcased in Riverdance and it makes me sad. Someone as talented and gifted as he was, should not have had to resort to sleaze and what became a strip show. These productions were originally designed to bring the beauty and elegance of Irish dance, music and culture to the world but now it's taken a backseat to stuff that has nothing to do with Ireland. If these shows don't get back to their former glory, I'm worried that in the not too distant future, they will be consigned to the entertainment garbage dump. At least Riverdance has stayed true to what it was supposed to be and I never get tired of watching it; this show is another story. I do like the original from Dublin in the 90's but not this 😮. I've seen multiple versions of the " new "" LORD of the Dance" show and I'm shocked at how small some of the venues are. For a show that once sold out stadiums, Radio City Music Hall and the Pointe Theatre, it's disheartening to see that some of these crowds couldn't even fill 1/3rd of a stadium. The venues look like they are no bigger than a school auditorium and the show once had 50 or more dancers, the newer versions have maybe 20 at the most. A sad commentary on how this masterpiece has deteriorated. Are people loosing interest because it's not what it once was? You have to wonder.
@@jocelynharris-fx8ho Hi Jocelyn. Your response holds very true. I prefer Riverdance because they did stick to the elegance and beauty of the Irish roots , the music, and the costumes. When Lord of the Dance spun off of Riverdance, the very first shows were good. The costumes were still somewhat dignified and proper. Fast forward to the current shows, and it is a blend of Cirque du Soleil and a Vegas Chorus line show. The Men's costumes are outrageous.I actually pity them they have to wear all that extra gear to dance, which is a distraction. The number Breakout is nearly embarrassing. From Hyde Park, where the gals were wearing it seems to be like athletic spandex shorts, to now, it is a tiny little bikini bottom, and yes, their bottom bum shows. Lord of the dance surly went Vegas style. I watch the videos of current, and I just don't feel it. The show seems almost sterile, I can't put my finger on it, but I don't get the chills. The smiles are 100% forced trained smiles on stage. I do LOVE Riverdance, they are by far my favorite and I am grateful they didn't change the show too much. God bless~
Wow my boyfriend mark just loves this dance. He's gone to get his special dance outfit on to dance along! But he'll never be lime Micheal.. he sure looks good trying though
Je ne me lasse pas de vous admirer tous les jours...j'apprécie votre légèreté, votre précision et synchronisation..vous effleurez à peine le sol mais l'harmonie qui se dégage provoque un réel bonheur
Amazing to compare this with the original 1996 version, much smoother and faster in motion and more sleek. Plus, not as over the top as the Feet of Flames with elaborate costumes and such.
I like this one! I did this dance back at my promotion at Barbara Comstock Morse Elementary (I'm in college, Consumnes River College, now). But that move where they rock on their ankles I'm still working on. It's way too hard for me!
Minuteman No No No you wouldn’t........... you would for about 6 months, but then things would change slightly, and then by 7 years you would be pissed off every time she spoke, burped, farted, nagged etc etc!

I agree, the original look is nicer.
They always change it to fit in with a more sexualised modern day society

the dance is very clean here but the old moves that they did in feet of flames 1998 was way better.
I agree.
I prefer the original version to this one, god damn it.
The little duel at 1:15 was so much better in the old version. You could literally read off their faces, I hate you bitch and Bring it

Why does Bernadette keep doing those random bent arm movements? stopppit.
