I’ve recently pass my test this month in Atlanta and I wanna thank you guys, since the beginning of my journey your videos has helped me tremendously in mastering these maneuvers.
Just passed my first week of pre trip and off set, on my way to 90s on Monday. I'm trying this and I'll let you know. The instructors at my school teaches to complicated this seems simple and easy
@@adangerousmind357 I passed my final exam 10/5/23. The trucks at school are single axle. The trucks they are using is double. That's why they have to do a hard left or right at the beginning
Thank you so much for making this video with the drone view! I’m currently having troubles nailing this on my own but the view and recap in this video is exactly what I needed to really get this down!
I’m currently in cdl school, extremely crappy trucks we’re using, but anyway, those 3 color lines on the side of the truck are genius and would definitely help me allot with this offset technique,I always over shoot the turn after aligning then turning the truck and trailer at 90… instead of the 45 degree turn that you should take, thanks allot…. Again this lines are great
THANK YOU I have been doing so bad on my offset and this is so great a break down how to do it and the steps to take I have one more time to get it right or I can't get my CDL thanks so much I will post what happens this is GREAT. again thanks
From the sky view, it looks like when the tractor and trailer are at a 45 degree angle, the inside front corner of the trailer is pointing at the driver’s seat when backing to the right, and pointing at the passenger seat when backing left. Would you agree? I get the concept but i’m trying to find reference points to help me.
I was looking at the DOT red & white reflectors as a reference point on side the bottom of the trailer...looks like the tractor "ate up 2 DOT reflectors" on the trailer ( aka 2 disappeared)and then stopped. (Only thing is, will I be able to see it looking out my mirrors?🤔
Yea my instructor said the same thing about “look for the v in the landing gear” but these guys look a lot more knowledgable than the school i’m at lol
Interestingly enough, we used to teach the end of the trailer tire. Next time you get out and look, you will see the end of the trailer tire and the corner of the trailer are one in the same. We just think the corner of the trailer is an easier mark for new drivers to hit. Good luck driver, you got this! 💪
Congratulations bro I test Thursday I hope I pass this offset really got me stressed I hope the video really help me out I was real confused until I came cross it and u might have to start off wit sum like depending on where u located
I am at a school having a hard time with this maneuver. So now matter what the size of a truck I’m using this maneuver will work if I line up the cone with the end of the trailer and make the hard left then hard right?
@@lukeswe2013 it will work, but backing a short 28’ trailer is much harder than backing a longer 48’ or 53’ trailer because they react so much faster. So just go slow and make small wheel turns.
It depends on what kind of tractor and trailer to u are driving if you are driving a pup trailer which I believe is 38 ft it off sets faster so you only do one full turn revolution
Still the same concept, but it'll be much faster. If you ever back a dolly, just a quarter turn for less than 1 second. That's why some drivers slide the tandems to the very rear when they back. I prefer my tandems all the way to the front when backing. Shorter wheelbase length, but the rear of your trailer will swing out more. Everything has pros & cons. None of these trucking school mention this. When you're going forward, you're PULLING. When you're in reverse, you're PUSHING. Don't understand the concept, push/pull any object, like your phone or cigarette box. It's all about the placement of your tandem. The front of your vehicle, it doesn't really matter where it is, left, center, right (if you have plenty of space).
seems ike he was too close to the driver side cone when close to the parking spot. You can see it in the overview better, but you cut the ground view showing his correction to move it to the passenger side more when backing. Perhaps he even needed a pullup to get it more centered, but we dont see that nor the best way to do that. newbies rarely do a perfect maneuver. they need to correct the "imperfect" setup, so its good to see videos showing how to make corrections.
The cone was directly behind the back tire. Theres no way he would not have run over it. They had to reposition tht truck so the truck wouldn't hit the cone,no doubt . Thts why they paused the filming for a second . Wish they would show it again. but, correctly this time.. Because I'm havg a hard time with my offset as well.
I feel the same way this video is great you guys explain everything way better than the trucking school I'm in now. It's frustrating and some days I feel like throwing in the towel and just getting a regular job but I'm determined I hope watching this video a few times helps me
@@DanzBeGaming I have my appointment on the 24th of this month I'm hoping for the best 🥲 but we will see hoping I do alley dock instead of parallel since you use that in the real world
On your road test they should get this exact amount. It is state regulated, federally regulated. However, your training yard may not which is OK. It will make you a better driver and when you get to the road test it should be easier. Good luck driver 🤘🏻
Well.... That's one way to do it. But, I do have to say that if most of the DMVs around the Country see those "cheat" marks on the trailer they will end the test and send the student away. The way I teach you turn the wheel 3 times. And don't waste a get out seeing if you crossed the center line. Mostly, SMH at the "cheat" lines though.
We teach this way, then if the student gets comfortable they can do rolling offsets. If they don’t, that’s OK. They can do it this way and pass their test.
Today I pass A license and thank to you sir. This help me a lot.literally just watch and did backing directly in test without practise and job done..Awesome tips.!🫡🫡🫡

Yes

Is this a 45 foot trailer
48’
bravo 👍
Thank you!
You must look not at the rear corner of the trailer! You must look at the rear axle of trailer!
Every time i try this, i always in front of the center corner .Idk what else to do . This is really depressing.
Your adjustment is slightly off. Try lining the rear corner of the trailer on the center lane.
