I understand Tamil and Hindi. And I now know why Tamil audience get directors like Vetrimaaran, Lokesh and even Venkat Prabhu for that matter. These directors don’t take audience for granted. Even Mani Ratnam doesn’t take his screenplays for granted although he’s a master storyteller and can tell stories without dialogues. Anurag Kashyap hasn’t been identified by the masses yet because he hasn’t gone out of his limited genres(except for Manmarrziyan and DJ Mogabatein something 😂). Hindi is very limited because the audience take content for granted, eats gutka, votes based on religion and castes and arrive in trains to Chennai to do labor jobs. I’m a huge SRK fan but I didn’t like Pathaan and maybe that’s why it did very less business in south.
