Question for Jewish Learning Institute or anyone knowledgeable out there:
My sense is that the Talmud is a living, dynamic and ongoing work, always subject to discussion and debate. First, for existing commentaries in the Talmud what credentials did the authors have to have and who certified their commentaries as being appropriate to be included.
Secondly, a similar question; if someone today wanted to add a commentary what would they have to do and who would certify their commentary? How would it be added, as a reprinting of the Talmud?
